Evening all Grin

Apologies for the cheesy thread title.

Come and join the MN Perfumistas for gorgeously-scented chat (or Germolene and burnt frankfurters...)

Debaser sounds great Maud , I’d passed right over it as fig, coconut and tonka bean sounded cloying but from your description and a closer look at the fragrantica reviews it sounds right up my street. I really liked &Other Stories fig fiction for a fresh, sappy, green fig but they seem to have discontinued it. My list to try is getting longer and longer.

CountFosco · 13/04/2019 20:00

OK Priest. I've not tried Farenheit but now I want to. Based on his obession with the trappings of catholicism I reckon he might like one of the old Santa Maria Novella Pharmacy colognes. Maybe Acqua di Colonia.

As far as Claire goes up to now reckon either Chanel No 5 or a Jo Malone or possibly something niche and spectacularly tasteful. But now she loves Klare she'll free herself and go for something properly exquisite. I reckon fig or iris will feature prominently.

CountFosco · 13/04/2019 20:01

And I want Debaser!

MrsMoggs · 13/04/2019 20:14

Excellent work Count. To run with the Catholicism and to factor in his social exhibitionist streak, how about Seville A L'Aube?

CountFosco · 13/04/2019 20:22

Oh MrsMoggs, I think you've got it! Brilliant choice (and the description on Fragrantica makes me all hot and bothered!).

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/04/2019 00:00

SOTD FM Lipstick Rose. Have been out for dinner and eaten far too much. I don’t know what Debaser is, but because of the Pixies connection I probably want it too.

MotherOfDragonite · 14/04/2019 08:59

So, the Amberama from 4160.... aaaaargh. Tried it last night. I do love it. But I just can't wear these very edible smelling scents, it's so distracting to constantly smell food!

I do have quite a few things (including, alas, the Amberama) that I would be very open to swapping, if anyone is interested. Are there any good communities or forums to try for that? Or maybe I should eBay? What do you do???

SOTM is Maria Candida Gentile -- Cinabre on one wrist, it's a gorgeous gentle peppery rose. I'm not keen on either pepper or rose but this is so smooth and warm, I really enjoy it. And Barry Lyndon on the other wrist; the notes suggest something green and herbal but I'm also getting plenty of sweet heather on top of that.

I tried Hanbury (another MCG) a couple of days ago and it's very beautiful, a grassy sweet spring scent, but the mimosa is incredibly reminiscent of my childhood and I just can't wear it, it's too "of an era".

Iambuffy · 14/04/2019 09:10

I have a few samples I can swop if you’re interested mother?

Couple of Andy Tauers too.

Let me know x

MotherOfDragonite · 14/04/2019 09:27

What kind of things do you like, Buffy? I will go and have a look!!

Iambuffy · 14/04/2019 09:34

I like powder, Amber, warm, spicy, oriental, balsamic, vanilla, bergamot, orris, tonka.....

What do you like?

CountFosco · 14/04/2019 14:39

I don’t know what Debaser is, but because of the Pixies connection I probably want it too.

Me too but I'm trying to be good at the moment and DH has bought me a load of perfume recently so I should concentrate on what I have for a bit.

SotD Rose Silence. This is because I have rose soap in the shower at the moment so want to maintain that fresh and light rosiness when I come out of the shower.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 14/04/2019 16:00

SOTD is Imaginary Authors Falling into the Sea. This starts off beautifully with a vaguely tropical, beachy white floral and citrus...and then after a couple of hours turns into a dull detergent-y nothingness.

Pfffft. I'm off to find something more interesting.

La fille de Berlin is my Sotd.
I’ve just bought several big bottles of Savon Marseille from Tk Maxx - honeysuckle, verbena and orange blossom and some Rose handwash. The big bottles last for ages in the shower.

MrsMoggs · 14/04/2019 20:17

Have lit a teeny fire of old documents in my new Aldi mini-incinerator and it's belched smoke over into next door's garden for 2 and a half hours now Blush. Wasn't expecting to be quite this anti-social.

SotD was A di P Chinotto. Aromatic green bitter citrus (much deeper but less sharp than, say, galbanum green). This is a classy unisex option for a hot day.

MrsMoggs · 14/04/2019 20:23

Mother - we do have bouts of swapping on this thread, you could start our next one Smile. Just give us a list of what you want to sell or swap, the size of bottle/how much has been used etc. If you are happy to swap give people an idea of what you are looking for. If you want to sell, indicate a price, or ask people to PM you to negotiate. Remember to decide what to you are doing about postage costs if you are selling (People can pay you via Paypal).

Selling on ebay is usually easy-peasy, but the fees add up.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/04/2019 21:27

SOTD Miss Dior proper. I am back at work tomorrow (then working actual Easter) and full of the DREAD.

teta · 15/04/2019 10:52

I’m trying out my Rook Perfume samples out today. They’re having a closing down sale and I wanted to remind myself of how they smell. I already have a bottle of Neroli which is such a delightfully sunny scent and I’ve just ordered Undergrowth- a minty soil-tinctured Vetiver. It’s the only Vetiver I’ve ever sampled that I really enjoy. It’s also the perfect perfume for a no perfume day.
I must stop spending money........,

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 15/04/2019 11:40

Noooooo, cannot buy any Rook perfumes....cannot spend anymore this month....Thurible and Neroli so tempting though!

Read today that the Priest actor recently split from his boyfriend.
Have to say he played straight very very well.
phwoar.

yes he needs something slightly incensey- i suggested Fahrenheit as to me it is LUST in a bottle ha ha

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 15/04/2019 19:07

SOTD is Floral Street Wild Vanilla Orchid. I'm not keen on this as I smell like a Barbie doll wrapped up in a packet of Werthers Originals with side order of apple crumble with custard. The only saving grace is the faint whiff of Jasmine.

MrsMoggs · 15/04/2019 20:48

I need to smell some again Kali - a big frankincense note, right?

SotD is Seville a L'Aube, being Holy Week and all that. Don't think I've worn this since last Easter which is a bit remiss. (Sometimes I think a spreadsheet to guide an orderly rotation would be the answer; but that fails to factor in weather, occasion and mood...).

I do like SaL'A for early Spring. It's bold and warm and tenacious, but the orange blossom keeps it seasonal.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 15/04/2019 21:14

Ohh, I think I need some Seville a l'Aube. It sounds lovely.

MotherOfDragonite · 15/04/2019 21:25

SOTD was MH Pamplemousse. Very wearable indeed.

I will try to do a post here soon with things for swap, that is a really good idea. Am a bit too knackered to face it right now though. Buffy it sounds as if we have really similar taste, would that work for you if I post a list and you can give me a heads up if anything floats your boat?

Poor old Notre Dame :-( it is extremely sad.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 15/04/2019 21:52

I'll try and get a swap list sorted this week as well - it's been a while.

SOTD JHAG Mad Madame.

It’s so awful, mother.
