Evening all Grin

Apologies for the cheesy thread title.

Come and join the MN Perfumistas for gorgeously-scented chat (or Germolene and burnt frankfurters...)

Enormous I’d be hugely interested, turns out I live 20 minutes from the Osmothèque and I’d never heard of it. Are you Paris based?

SOTD is Silphium by Stora Skuggan. Love at second smell, will eek out my sample to next month and get a bottle then.

EnormousDormouse · 11/04/2019 15:29

foodie I am based in the Middle East but a team came over as part of 'French Week' organised by the Embassy. It was a fabulous interactive lecture with samples recreated from ancient recipes; then moving on to modern times and a potted history of the 'firsts' in perfume - wherever possible in their original formulations (eg, 1912 L'Heure Bleu not modern reformulation). I was so happy as I'd only heard about the event by chance AND we all got a large box of Amouage samples at the end Grin
The people from the Osmothèque were so knowledgeable and friendly - they really welcome visitors - perhaps the Perfumistas should get a group and organise a private visit?

Hopefully photos will show the details of what they offer

SOTD Chanel 19.

MotherOfDragonite · 11/04/2019 21:11

SOTD has been Centrepiece, which I love more and more despite the fact that I do smell anise in it now. Thank you to whoever egged me on to blind-buy it. It's divine.

Go for it, buffy! Do you have your eye (nose?) on anything in particular? I love so many of his fragrances.

Dormouse, that looks amazing! Did you make any good new discoveries? Part of me would love that, while another part of me would hate to fall in love with something vintage and unobtainable...

teta, let me know when you put the MM memory box on eBay? I'm kind of tempted. Did you end up wanting to get FBs of any it? I feel we may have some overlap in our preferences.

Lotsofpots · 11/04/2019 21:22

count you have it bang on!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 11/04/2019 21:58

buffy surely it has to be LADDM?

It is the classic after all plus it's the cheapest

SOTD has been Anima Dulcis by Arquiste. Chilli, cacao, vanilla and cinnamon - it should be lovely but it's left me feeling a wee bit meh. Perhaps I have over-gourmanded myself recently Grin

The Osmotheque sounds amazing...

Wowzer Dormouse - that sounds amazing. By the look of your mouillettes you got to sniff some fabulous things. A day trip would be wonderful Smile.

Count - had her down for something a bit more pretentious art house niche...Smile.

SotD Les Nuits D'Hadrien. No idea about the nights - this is the most perfect daytime clean soapy citrus/amber scent. A desert island pick.

Lotsofpots · 12/04/2019 03:16

maud you have to give AD another try - I too am a gourmand lover and this is up there with my faves. There is something slightly animalistic about it which I love.

Iambuffy · 12/04/2019 07:19

Ha! I'd decided on LADDM!
SOTD prob Pp by the fireplace as I'm off to the gym again...

MotherOfDragonite · 12/04/2019 10:27

SOTD is Wood of Life by Anima Vinci. I was so impressed by it when I first tried it, but today it's a bit nothingy.

I must also be the only person in the universe who doesn't like POAL. Tried it on yesterday and just hated it. Couldn't smell anything other than a sharp rose and a slightly oily oud note.

MotherOfDragonite · 12/04/2019 10:28

buffy, good choice! LADDM is so beautiful and versatile.

MrsMoggs · 12/04/2019 10:55

SotD is Amouage Love Tuberose (a Feel Unique pick n mix sample). Now I'm not a tuberose fan, but this is the most magnificently luscious white floral. Rich, creamy but still fresh and dewy. After the opening it's rounded out with jasmine and gardenia notes, sharpened with a nip of cedar. These sit on a dreamy vanilla/sandalwood base. Worth a whirl whilst it's in stock.

FloofyCatTheFragranceFanatic · 12/04/2019 14:23

Thanks for new thread maud Smile

Just catching up and have had a perfume hiatus as a MiniFloof has been in hospital and is now recovering at home from major op. Slowly getting better which is good but I am beyond tired. I looked at my perfume tray this morning and nothing seems suitable! I want something crisp and fresh and "awake" and cheery yet comforting and not too "complicated". No burnt frankfurters wearing leather jackets Grin I went for Amazing Grace but it's too much like bed linen under the circumstances! I think I might have a peek at the Feel Unique samples any excuse for new perfume Wink

Extremely jealous of Bloom and Paris related activities! I am planning a trip to Selfridges as soon as I can leave the house - would it be sad to bring a notebook or a pen to write on strips as I forget so quickly what I've tried? Don't want to have an etiquette faux pas in the perfume hall Wink

KaliforniaDreamz · 12/04/2019 14:26

EnormousDormouse that looks really cool. Still kicking myself that on a holiday to france one year i didn't visit the perfumerie... maybe i'll go back...
SOTD Bottega Veneta eau legere

KaliforniaDreamz · 12/04/2019 14:27

Floofy i hope you're ok. speedy recovery to mini.

teta · 12/04/2019 14:56

Nerolia Bianca is my Sotd. I wanted something really fresh and invigorating as I’m feeling like a apathetic blimp. I have cheered myself up by scoffing quite a bit of Aldi’s dark chocolate with whole Hazelnuts. How come no one else does dark chocolate with lots of nuts. Not even the premium brands?
Kalifornia the lambs are lovely to watch aren’t they? But it involves very hard work. dd’s working nearly 12 hour days and then came home to two hours revision for her Uni exams. She hasn’t done any nights yet, but the farmers are living on very little sleep.
Mother Mmm perfumes just don’t suit me, even Untitled which going by the notes I should love. That’s why I only sprayed each sample once to test. Sometimes that happens with certain ranges. I also find I’ve become a lot more pernickety as I’ve been so spoilt and tried some truly stunning perfumes over the years.

Iambuffy · 12/04/2019 16:00

floofy all good wishes x

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 12/04/2019 16:17

SOTD is Zoologist Dodo. Oddly, I didn't get the big blast of lychee today that I could smell when I first sampled it in store. But, this is still fantastic nevertheless. It's herby and fruity yet animalic, with an unmistakeable aura of squashed fruit, sawdust and, well, animal shit, but it's lovely Grin

OP posts:
TracyBeakerSoYeah · 12/04/2019 18:35

Dodo sounds intriguing Maud
SOTD is Floral Street Neon Rose.
Starts off like you've just stuck your nose into an old fashioned Rose, heady yet light & airy. As the day goes on you get the sharp green of the leaves. And there's something else in it that I also smell in EL Beautiful & Private Collection.(Will check Fragrantica).
I love this too. Damn you Floral Street! Grin

CountFosco · 12/04/2019 18:48

SotD MG Lemon for interviewing. It wasn't needed, we were interviewing an internal candidate and they were very good.

Count - had her down for something a bit more pretentious art house niche...smile.

Ha, yes, maybe Secretions Magnifiques for her Sexhibition. Bet she'd love Imaginary Authors as well.

MotherOfDragonite · 12/04/2019 18:54

floofy, I hope MiniFloof is recovering well and that you're getting a little break too. These things are so draining.

The 4160 half price scent of the week is Mother Nature's Naughty Daughters, just in case anyone needs a little enabling push in that direction...

tracy, my very first blind buy was the Floral Street Athena Collection, but I just didn't get on with them. They sound so nice on you though!

Lotsofpots · 12/04/2019 19:27

Sending good smelling vibes your way floofy

mother I don't like POAL either. Based on the description I should love it but I find it utterly bland.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 12/04/2019 19:32

Sorry to hear about minifloof - hope everyone is on the mend soon.

Much as I love Imaginary Authors I am tempted to agree that Godmother would probably find them very enticing too, in a horribly pretentious way. She might also go for Papillon Salome...

Bit disappointed that it's MNND as half-price SOTW. Was hoping for something I actually want.

OP posts:
MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 12/04/2019 19:34

Another non-fan of POAL here too. In fact I've never met a Malle I particularly liked.

I'm really missing La Fille de Berlin though...now that's a rose perfume. Think I need to get another sample.
