Evening all Grin

Apologies for the cheesy thread title.

Come and join the MN Perfumistas for gorgeously-scented chat (or Germolene and burnt frankfurters...)

I also bought something - a new bottle of Fleur du matin . I don’t think I can contemplate not having this over Summer. Why are all my old favourites being discontinued?
Naughty @Buffy and @Mother.
Ealing Green and Tokyo Spring Blossom are my favourite 4160’s.
@Kalifornia she can bunk up with dd1 who used to be obsessed by ponies. We used to trail in and out of lessons for years with the three younger ones in tow - all 3 within three years and very tiny. The stables hated us as the kids scared the horses and once made them bolt by banging on the glass windows. And they used to denude the pampas grass and fight using the stems as swords. The funny thing is dd1 now as a Vet student will be doing work experience there as they remember us well.

SOTE is shay and blue black tulip, thanks to my lovely parcel from my secret swapper. It is very familiar - perhaps it has shades of black opium? - but blimey I like it a lot. It doesn't smell like anything I own and yet instinctively feels very "me" (it's a gourmand, surprise surprise).

KaliforniaDreamz · 08/06/2019 10:02

ahh Teta you had your work cut out for you.

as i watch mine grow up i am so sad about it all.... really am soppy at the moment.

Iambuffy · 08/06/2019 11:00

Well my strapping (nearly) 16 year old asked for a high this morning!

He's in the midst of gcses and exhausted :(

teta · 08/06/2019 11:21

@Buffy ?

teta · 08/06/2019 11:25

You've been reading those Michael Gove stories again Grin

MotherOfDragonite · 08/06/2019 11:35

SOTD is Anima Vinci Wood of Life. It's lovely and relaxing.

I don't know whether it's the damper weather lately, but suddenly the smell of oud has become super strong for me --- I was going to wear Scherzo, in which I'd previously detected the tiniest and most subtle oud note, and this morning it just smelled whompingly oudy!

MotherOfDragonite · 08/06/2019 11:36

buffy, do you mean a hug?!

teta, your life sounds and looks so incredibly dreamy from a distance. I suppose because it's so different from the urban hum of life around here!

Iambuffy · 08/06/2019 11:55

Oh lord....🤣

Yes! A hug :)

MotherOfDragonite · 08/06/2019 11:56

I am so exhausted at the moment. The toddler is just on overdrive -- desperately independent and wants to do everything by herself, but is a massive risk and has no common sense whatsoever. We have lots of tantrums when I have to hold her hand or put her in the buggy to cross the road!

Any recommendations for a soothing lavender or (and?!) vanilla scent? I totally need something calming! Grin

Calmasasleepycat · 08/06/2019 13:05

Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male has lavender and vanilla. It also has a strong note of mint. It’s on my “to buy sometime” list. I love it, but I don’t think of it as calming.

teta · 08/06/2019 13:20

I love the L Occitane lavender eau d cologne or Penhaligon is worth a try. The only Vanilla I enjoy is Mona di Orio’s .Its absolutely stunning.
I don’t know any perfume with both.
I use This Works deep sleep pillow spray every night and it’s mainly lavender with Camomile and Vetiver. It’s very soothing and calming.
Hope you have a calmer day today with no toddler tantrums. I remember that stage well and it’s exhausting and testing.

Iambuffy · 08/06/2019 14:54

Sotd pp by the fireplace

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 08/06/2019 16:16

Well I never thought I'd see Michael Gove on a perfume thread! What do you think he'd wear - Franck Blocet COCAINE EXTRAIT DE PERFUME?
www.parenteprofumeria.com/gb/perfumes/2189-franck-boclet-cocaine-3575070054446.html

Thanks Judy this fluey cold thing is a stinker! I can hardly smell anything. Bah!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 08/06/2019 16:23

Mother you may like Mon Guerlain as it's lavender, jasmine sambac & Vanilla tahitensis.
It feels very comforting.
Toddlers! I remember that stage especially the throwing themselves on the floor when they are having a complete meltdown.
Remember the adage this soon shall pass.

Iambuffy · 08/06/2019 19:30

Oh yes - mon guerlain is a good one.

Sote Avon timeless

KaliforniaDreamz · 08/06/2019 19:39

Tracy how about Poison he he

The toddler stage is horrendous. you have my sympathy mother - between 5-12 is best !

buffy my teen boy was rude to me yesterday and i got all huffy and upset (peri menopausal here), he came and apologised later and i cried on his chest. bit of a weird moment to feel him comforting me but no bad thing imo.

sigh.

Iambuffy · 08/06/2019 20:03

Aw kali how sweet. And infuriating. Just like teenagers, really!

Ds1 is very tired. And fed up of exams.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 08/06/2019 20:03

Evening all!

My teen boy is very very funny, affectionate and chatty...when he wants to be. The rest of the time I'm lucky if I get a grunt. He's not accepted hugs for a while now (I think it tied in with the start of revision and exams, actually) but he will put up with me ruffling his hair and squeezing his spots Grin Grin poor boy.

SOTD has been Habanita as I've had to spend the day being grown-up and professional. It was my faculty's first Open Day of the year and I was there doing meeting, greeting and promoting my programme. I was even wearing heels and my calves are killing me now.

Iambuffy · 08/06/2019 20:10

Ds1 is lovely. But he's feeling the pressure atm I think.

I introduced him to the new bbc show "what we do in the shadows" so we've been laughing away at that for the past couple of nights.

KaliforniaDreamz · 08/06/2019 20:25

ad for this to my right... anyone else got that? spooky......

copycatfragrances.co.uk/collections/female

MrsMoggs · 08/06/2019 20:36

Ah Teta - I was out an open day today but didn't smell anyone in Habanita. Smile

It was fun, thanks, Calm. We sniffed around a fragrance wheel then tried a few mystery things - good format, thanks for the suggestions.

SotD is Encens Flamboyant - which is actually a very unexpected bluntly balsamic pine (almost numbing, like clove, rather than in any way fresh or sharp). A smoky, clean aromatic. Would repel germs or malign spirits.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/06/2019 20:38

SOTD L’Air de Rien. The weather here is so miserable I am still in autumn/winter perfume, I am desperate for bare legs and beachy scents.

MrsMoggs · 08/06/2019 20:45

There's a missing *at in that sentence - sorry.

MrsMoggs · 08/06/2019 21:01

Mother Molinard's Lavande is a very straightforward lavender/vanilla. Comforting and undemanding in a clean beds sheets sort of way.
