Evening all Grin

Apologies for the cheesy thread title.

Come and join the MN Perfumistas for gorgeously-scented chat (or Germolene and burnt frankfurters...)

Iambuffy · 05/06/2019 21:01

Loving L'eau de ambre
Gorgeous!

Lotsofpots · 05/06/2019 21:41

Thanks for the moral support all. Yesterday was my day off but today felt easier (helped by the boys being at home with their dad rather than at nursery).

I think I hugely freaked a stranger at work out today as I walked behind them and out of nowhere said "are you wearing jo malone nectarine blossom and honey? You smell amazing". My nose was right but clearly my social skills need some work as she looked appropriately weirded out.

SOTD was floral street ylang ylang espresso. I got a full bottle for my birthday and I love it.

YesQueen · 05/06/2019 21:58

@MotherOfDragonite definitely agree with you about clever fragrances
My "happy" scent which makes me feel womanly/powerful/sexy is sexiest scent. I love it

Iambuffy · 05/06/2019 22:22

One of my faves too queen

Iambuffy · 06/06/2019 07:06

Sotd L'eau d ambree thanks to my lovely perfumista friend:)

MotherOfDragonite · 06/06/2019 08:13

I need to try Sexiest Scent, YesQueen! I even have a tester. I just got a bit distracted... actually, when I first got started, I ordered loads of 4160 samples and then found them a bit too cerebral and gave up on them. But now I think I'm in the right head space Grin

I also feel like I need to do the rounds of the stuff I have already acquired, tbh. I haven't tried much of it in warm weather and I'm interested to know whether it changes much.

SOTD, however, because I'm lazy and get stuck on things for a few days at a time when I like them -- Freeway.

Iambuffy · 06/06/2019 21:05

Sote l'eau d ambre

teta · 06/06/2019 21:19

I'm also stuck on Fleur Du Matin too Mother.
I did buy L'Occitane Lavender eau de cologne today to spray on my sheets and clothes.
I've just been on a sunny evening dog walk. We live right next to s National Trust area and we have wild ponies on the hills that often seen to come down to the lower levels in summer. There was a gorgeous baby foal there tonight with the parents. It was so lovely to watch for a while.Wished I had my phone on me.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/06/2019 21:46

SOTD MG Plum.

Iambuffy · 07/06/2019 07:34

I think itll be L'eau d ambre again today :)

Lotsofpots · 07/06/2019 08:35

What does the perfumista collective think of Juliette Has a Gun?

YesQueen · 07/06/2019 08:38

SOTD - gypsy water. I'm a bit stuck on this at the minute, I find its my usual when I don't know what I want to wear!
My Kyse marshmallow should be here soon so I'll sniff and report when it arrives Grin

Iambuffy · 07/06/2019 10:02

Ooooh marshmallow!
Let me know what it's like!

Calmasasleepycat · 07/06/2019 10:03

MrsMoggs, how did the teen perfume smelling session go? (Or maybe it’s today.). What did they think of Bat?

Maud, I had to look up misophonia! It’s a new word for me, but I shall be using it from now on. People sniffing constantly drive me mad. I really, really want to offer them a tissue, but I’m too British.

lambuffy, I’m so pleased you’re enjoying the samples. My L’Eau d’Ambre was acquired some time ago from EBay, half of a small bottle. There was no box so it is now kept in an empty gravy container! I thought it might be your sort of scent, very definitely ambery sweet and spicy. It is the extreme version, so lasts a long time. The Jean D’Albret Casaque is a vintage from the 60s/70s. I remember wearing it as a teenager. It is a light, bright multi-floral with some grounded basenotes. Fragrantica says civet! The smell is exactly as I remember it. It doesn’t seem to have changed smell through age, although it only lasts an hour or two now (used to last longer).

I have a selection of samples to try (thanks cantbelievemyeyes!). I wore Sisley Soir d’Orient yesterday. I was very pleased to try it, as the Sisley counter can be very mean with their samples or even letting you loose on their testing bottles. It is a beautiful deep rich spicy rose, with similarities maybe to the style of Portrait of A Lady or Oud Satin Mood.

KaliforniaDreamz · 07/06/2019 10:14

Teta i am just posting my daughter to come live with you and the ponies.....

Iambuffy · 07/06/2019 10:14

I'm wearing it as we speak calm :)

I'm having a lazy day today. Been a busy week.

Ds1 is still in the midst of his gcses - he finishes next Friday - I think I've had lots of low level anxiety about it although obv in front of ds1 I'm very zen :)

Absolutely, positively NO more perfume buying until the end of summer!

unless I really want the 4160 site of course

Iambuffy · 07/06/2019 10:15

I think the Jean d albret will grow on me calm

Iambuffy · 07/06/2019 16:49

Sote Avon timeless

I've bought the 4160 sotw :)
Tokyo spring blossom - never tried this one!

MotherOfDragonite · 07/06/2019 17:59

I've only just gone and bought a full bottle of Freeway while it's half price!!!

Couldn't really justify anything else after that... Tokyo Spring Blossom is lovely, it just doesn't seem to smell as good on me as it does on other people.

SOTD is Freeway. I also spritzed a bit of my tester of Tokyo Spring Blossom and appreciated the violet notes and weirdly I get a bit of tea (but that might just be me).

Iambuffy · 07/06/2019 19:59

mother you sausage

cantbelievemyeyes · 07/06/2019 20:29

SOTD Lancome Oud Ambroisie. I'm so glad I got a decant of this: strawberries, honey, rose and oud. It makes me want to eat myself.

Glad you liked the Sisley Calm, the lady on the Sisley counter at Harvey Nichols in Manchester was lovely and offered me a sample of anything I'd like to try unprompted. Agreed on the POAL similarities and Satin Mood similarities- two of my favourite perfumes.

Received my samples swap package today (not sure if we were doing swaps in pairs or more random so not sure who to thank?) Had a blast of Ealing Green which I had been keen to try- it is a lovely fresh happy scent! Also pleased to see an Incense Flash in there, I am a fan of the Flashes.

Contemplating Tokyo Spring Blossom this week- really enjoyed a sample of it before as I am a sucker for violets.

MotherOfDragonite · 07/06/2019 21:14

Who can you possibly mean, buffy? Surely not little old me... Halo
