Looks nice but not for me, thank you. If I turned up wearing that, people would wonder if I was having a mid-life crisis/affair/gone bananas.

whitehalleve · 01/04/2019 21:15

This is so someone from the company trying and failing to promote the dress. Wrong demographic, it's a granny dress.

ScrambledSmegs · 01/04/2019 21:18

No. That is not a school run dress. It is a sundress. If you like it so much OP, buy it, but it's a no from me.

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 01/04/2019 21:18

Am I looking at a 1992 Freeman's catalogue?

Bluntness100 · 01/04/2019 21:18

I'm wondering if this post is from some daft work experience pr person for Bon marche who has just got it embarrassingly wrong and should be kicked out the office and back to school ASAP?

KimchiLaLa · 01/04/2019 21:19

School run dress? I'll do mine in joggers thanks

FlutterShite · 01/04/2019 21:19

I love the model's face. But her eyes in the final picture are shrieking "HELP ME", like someone being helplessly turned into a cyberman while their human consciousness clings on.

Yes that's what I'm thinking, someone needs to get their arse handed to them for it if it is.

School run dress? WTAF even is that?

littlebillie · 01/04/2019 21:21

Oh dear

KipperTheFrog · 01/04/2019 21:21

Hang on, I’m new to the whole school run thing, DD1 only started this September. I just throw on a hoodie and jeans to take her to school. Am I supposed to wear something nicer?!

NotAnotherJaffaCake · 01/04/2019 21:21

Srsly, Bon Marche need to fire their social media team. Second post that I’ve seen in 24 hrs about them that screams paid shill - see also the cigarette trouser thread.

ballsdeep · 01/04/2019 21:24

Christ on a bike no

Peterpiperpickedwrong · 01/04/2019 21:25

Bon Marche is where my Gran shopped in her 70’s. I have lots of old patients 65 + who shop there so I just assumed it was an old bids shop.......Isn’t it?

ScrambledSmegs · 01/04/2019 21:27

School run dress is a pretty old MN 'thing'. The idea being that it's a casual summer dress that you can chuck on in moments and look presentable when you've actually spent the day grubbing in the veg patch with toddlers, for example.

From what I remember it had to be loose fitting but not a sack, not be sleeveless, not cheap-looking but also not cost much, not too long or short but definitely not on the knee, and completely uncreasable. So clearly it has never existed.

Bluntness100 · 01/04/2019 21:27

Am I supposed to wear something nicer

Yes, yes, you're a mother now. You have to shun all your normal clothes and buy dresses just for the school run, please ensure they are as frumpy and mumsy as you can find, the Bon marche catalogue should be your first port of call.

Throw our your joggers, burn your hoodies, cut up your skinnies, give your biker jackets to charity, embrace the frump. 🤣

NannyKasey · 01/04/2019 21:27

When Bon Marche first opened locally to me they had some 'younger' stuff, I bought a couple of jumpers that I still wear now don't judge me Grin. My mum's friend bought me an absolutely hideous blouse (blue satin with a pussy bow collar Confused ) from there. The only thing I could exchange it for that I liked were a pair of quite nice actually slippers. Safe to say that I wasn't that bothered when they closed for the second time, though my DM (79) was upset

ScrambledSmegs · 01/04/2019 21:29

I actually haven't seen anyone talk about school run dresses on here for ages.

Where did you get it from, OP?

villagesecret · 01/04/2019 21:37

No that's hideous!

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 01/04/2019 21:38

Christ alive, school run dress,as opposed to clothes you already own.fuckery
How’s that actually work.given school run isn’t an event, and to best of my knowledge there’s no dress code?
I don’t do the school run,but my dp would look real priddy in that dress
At my school there are tribes,
gym bunny too much make up,
spray tan and Spray on jeans
There’s not a frumpy as fuck dressed in caravan curtains tribe

MrsPlesWearsAFez · 01/04/2019 21:39

Awful dress. Actually hideous, and Bonmarche WTF.

Sad to see so many posts querying the 'school run dress'.

I had some lovely dresses off the back of those threads over the years. Was hoping serious suggestions in the days post-school run would work as 'something to just throw on when popping to the shop in summer' dress.

mrswilson2 · 01/04/2019 21:41

No it's hideous and frumpy Confused

Bluntness100 · 01/04/2019 21:42

How much are we betting this is a bloke who posted this?

Quintella · 01/04/2019 21:44

Srsly, Bon Marche need to fire their social media team. Second post that I’ve seen in 24 hrs about them that screams paid shill - see also the cigarette trouser thread.

Poor, Bon Marche. They clearly had a meeting and said 'chaps, there's a new thing called social media...'

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 01/04/2019 21:45

Sad to see so many posts querying the 'school run dress' why sad
I’m astonished it’s an actual thing, consideration given to dress for school run
The notion of school run being an event that one must be appropriately attired for and plan for
Whom is the intended audience?other parents presumably?teachers? Why
What’s the actual gain in having a school run dress, what’s the hoped for outcome?

SoyDora · 01/04/2019 21:47

Why are people ‘throwing on’ clothes for the school run? I just get dressed in my clothes for the day when I’m doing the school run, like I do every morning.
