I honestly thought in this case school run meant the parent race at sports day Confused I remember seeing a documentary years ago about very rich women and one of them bought very expensive clothes specifically to wear whilst dropping off and picking up the children from school. Weird.

FamilyOfAliens · 01/04/2019 20:50

HotSauceCommittee

That dress says it’s just below knee length but I can see the model’s knees Confused

Selectioner · 01/04/2019 20:51

That's horrible.

Amoregentlemanlikemanner · 01/04/2019 20:51

Who wears a dress to take their kids to school? And why?

ShannonRockallMalin · 01/04/2019 20:52

It’s not my cup of tea, but to be fair the likelihood of us having more than two days when it would be warm enough to wear that for the school run is pretty remote.

Herefortheduration · 01/04/2019 20:54

That's hideous and I'm 51.

SurgeHopper · 01/04/2019 20:55

What's all this about bon marché Now?

SurgeHopper · 01/04/2019 20:56

It’s a bit Viking river cruise but I like it!

'That dress says it’s just below knee length but I can see the model’s knees'

That's because models are tall like giraffes whereas most of us are short and dumpy in comparison. They're not lying.

Gruzinkerbell1 · 01/04/2019 20:58

It’s fucking hideous

PineapplePatty · 01/04/2019 21:00

Nah it's not.

The white stuff one isn't a bad pattern but they all look like sacks.

FlutterShite · 01/04/2019 21:02

Argh, I am being battered by jaunty White Stuff prints from every advertising angle now!

Quintella · 01/04/2019 21:03

Er, no. Dress shape is okay of you like that kind of thing. The print though is hideous.

Reminds me of those sundresses everyone was buying from ebay last summer.

Hollyhobbi · 01/04/2019 21:04

When I did the school run a few years ago we used to pass other students and parents going to 3 other schools. One of the schools always had a couple of mum's who were in their 'day pyjamas' pushing buggies and smoking fags.

polarpig · 01/04/2019 21:05

I like it but it wouldn't suit 99% of people.
Bon Marche?! Hmm

Bluntness100 · 01/04/2019 21:06

Is this a new thing then op? You need a dress for the school run? Preferably one very mumsy and unflattering?

MarshaBradyo · 01/04/2019 21:07

It’s not casual enough for a throw on dress and it’s pretty bad

MadisonAvenue · 01/04/2019 21:09

I was obviously doing the school run totally wrong if you're supposed to have a special wardrobe specifically for the school playground!

I spent 11 years turning up in what I'd thrown on that morning.

DaphneFanshaw · 01/04/2019 21:09

I like it.
I would probably pop it on over a bikini on holiday if I wanted to nip and get some food or a beer.
Unfortunately I wear my work clothes on the school run, my days of dossing with tiddlers are well over. Sad

DaphneFanshaw · 01/04/2019 21:11

Although I have to say, for £35. I could get a nicer dress from Zara or something of that ilk.

MancaroniCheese · 01/04/2019 21:11

As @Tanaqui has said the SRD was a throw on quickly dress, not a case of people dressing specifically for the SR.

Although those of us who are old enough to remember the spectacularly funny Cod SRD (and other) posts have kids old enough to be at Uni now Hmm

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 01/04/2019 21:12

The bodice and straps are very poorly cut. I like the shape of the ties (I'm making a much nicer dress with similar front ties at the moment). The fabric is a bit granny's bedspread for my taste. Linen is cool for the summer, but it would probably look like you'd slept in it after 10 minutes.

Thankfully my kids get picked up at our door by the school bus, so school runs aren't something I have to think about!

SwoopTheJackpot · 01/04/2019 21:12

Avoid linen because it wrinkles. I don't like the pattern.

babysharkah · 01/04/2019 21:13

Wtf is a school run dress? It's hideous but that's by the by. Do you work for Bon marche op?

applesarerroundandshiny · 01/04/2019 21:13

I like the Whitestuff dress, even more so that it's Fair Trade. The Zara dress ( @Ivgotasecretcanyoukeepit) is worse than OP's original.
