Previous thread

Let's keep criticism to the clothes rather than the women please...

I've met Harry multiple times through friends and then crossed paths with him through various charities that we both support and he is not dim. Certainly not academic, but in his role being emotionally intelligent and being able to connect with a wide amount of people is more important.

Feminist soundbites such as "Yes the paternal narrative is strong here" is a very American way of trying to sound like you have something substantial to say without actually having anything significant to say. Alhough, that quote is taken from a poster up thread. I love that she spoke in French though, I think that shows an extra effort that goes a long way.

Both of their outfits would have been nice for a casual day in London, but I don't think they were dressed up enough for this visit. That being said, I am sure they were told what to type of outfits to wear here so perhaps it is completely fine.

Mmmhmmokdear · 24/02/2019 17:57

I like that. Reminds me of the lovely dress with the cape Kate wore in Scandinavia.

rosewater20 · 24/02/2019 17:59

I like the Dior. It looks like it fits well, and is well made (as it should be for Dior). As always, her makeup is spot on.

NorthernLurker · 24/02/2019 18:03

I've liked all the outfits so far. I do hope she's ok. The press coverage is awful. The DM has a headline today about her looking at the bump!

peridito · 24/02/2019 18:08

Thank you for the new thread Queen .

I'm so not qualified to comment but ...

The red dress looked terrific IMO ,as often the case even better on video
with movement .The inverted pleat bit at the front and the cape made for a streamlined ,flowing look .

In the casual clothes ( which I bet in the flesh when you can appreciate the fabric ) they both looked great ,tho I personally don't like that flat flooted gait that pumps can give the wearer .
And ouch for when she had to rest one knee on that pebbly ground !

The Dior gown I don't like so much on her ,the crossover effect and that high round neckline seem to broaden her torso and make her head look out of all proportion to her body .
But it might look much better when she's moving . One still shot is v hard to judge .

@QueenOfTheAndals

I genuinely think Harry could've gone there if not for Di's death, it just didn't suit William

Zara and Peter went and Harry is like his grandfather, I'm sure Charles was able to see that though it wasn't a fit for him it was for Harry.

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/02/2019 18:14

A headline about her looking at her bump @NorthernLurker? It's a sad day when that's what passes for news 🙄

Wow I think she looks gorgeous tonight! I hated KM's caped maternity evening dress in Scandanavia - much prefer this on MM!

BlueJeansNiceTop · 24/02/2019 18:15

That Dior dress... amazing! Must be about £20k?!

SenecaFalls · 24/02/2019 18:16

I always try to find video because it gives a better sense of the full effect and also of how clothes function. Kate's green frog dress, for example, looked much better in video than in still shots.

ElspethFlashman · 24/02/2019 18:18

Oh god I don't like that Dior at all, sorry.

But then I generally hate flesh coloured clothes actually, so its not surprising.

I think it looks like a stretched out bandage with the ends wrapped around her neck. And I don't think it's flattering at all as it gives quite a wide effect.

I do like the pointy silver shoes though! (grasping at straws)

beanaseireann · 24/02/2019 18:24

I agree that outfit widens Meghan.
I'm disappointed she isn't showcasing British designers/ British fashion houses.
In the uncertain Brexit climate it would be such a boost.
She is such a pretty woman getting so many column inches and interest, it's a shame the opportunity is being wasted.
I'm not British nor a designer.

hopeishere · 24/02/2019 18:28

I'm not sure about it. It looks a bit nylon! And the heading looks cheap. I also think she's overdressed.

hopeishere · 24/02/2019 18:28

*beading not heading.

hopeishere · 24/02/2019 18:30

Love the bag though!

ElspethFlashman · 24/02/2019 18:34

Obsessed with these two looks from Letizia. The houndstooth is a two piece.

😍😍😍

Really disappointed by the Dior kaftan. It does nothing for her and is another opportunity wasted where she should have been wearing a British designer. It is as if H&M don't seem to realise their job is to promote Britain. They are so far down the line of succession now they need to earn their keep.

BartonHollow · 24/02/2019 18:41

I LOVE the Dior only so much you can do with your Shape when you're only a few weeks away from giving birth

Notmyrealname855 · 24/02/2019 18:42

Ooooh it looks like a crap version of Eugenie’s wedding evening gown, and she looks like a floating head. Would be difficult to dress a big belly though so not many options there. Sad to see more non-Brit designers Confused

frugalkitty · 24/02/2019 18:51

I rather like tonight’s kaftan, just not the high round neck (but as I’ve said before, this is probably because I hate them on me so when I see one it makes me feel constricted round my neck). I completely agree that she should be wearing more British designs, or local, I thought that was usually the done thing on tours. I do think the people around them need to consider more carefully how they will be perceived over some of their choices (like the 56K engagement gown) and there is definitely a middle ground to be found, I’m sure no one expects the royals to be 100% high street. Anyway, overall, I like tonight’s look and hopefully if there’s another baby in due course some of these expensive gowns will be reworn.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 24/02/2019 18:53

Didn't someone do a fun style challenge a few threads ago? Maybe there needs to be another one: find an outfit that you would have dressed Meghan in tonight, only it must be by a British designer.

(I don't think there's anything wrong with a heavily pregnant woman looking wide, I think it's nice that she's not apparently trying to make herself look smaller.)

itswinetime · 24/02/2019 18:59

I liked the casual look earlier. I like the Dior dress in terms of fit and cut I think it would have been in another league in a colour. I was also wondering if those are the same accessories (shoes and bag) as yesterday? Which would explain the slightly odd colour choice of nude and red yesterday but I might be wrong.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 24/02/2019 19:04

Not sure about today's dress, or the red dress yesterday. Not really flattering and today's kaftan did strain at the sleeves. It does seem pregnancy is a lot harder to style on her, outside of her usual blazer/trousers thing which looked much better. Then again, pregnancy dress can be difficult for all, and she's doing it being watched by the media.

Her face is radiant though.

One thing I do find very strange though is that she seems to avoid British designers.

hopeishere · 24/02/2019 19:05

I think she could have worn these and looked better. Some fab jewellery / bag / shoes.
