Let's keep criticism to the clothes rather than the women please...

Now that I’ve searched for Meghan's reasonably-priced alternative tour wardrobe, my fb is full of ads for maternity wear Hmm

Including this which would have been a great option for her, I think, and in the Isabella Oliver outlet so also #thrifty

All Hail Queen Olivia. Here is a costume from The Favourite as a mark of respect 👑

That pink dress is very bland. I'd rather a ridiculous Liz Taylor style kaftan, at least it gives some talking points!

motheroftinydragons · 25/02/2019 10:14

Hmm. I'm not massively keen on the Dior in photos because it looks beige, heavy and a bit drab. Bit odd round the chest too, a lower neck would've been more flattering same as when she wore the white dress the other week. However in the videos it looks more golden and flowy so I'm a bit torn. Lovely make up as always, and really knows what suits her.

On a separate but related note in some pictures you can see what seems to be baby Sussex sticking limbs out, looks like he or she is either lying transverse or having a really good old wriggle and roll! I bet she's getting to that really uncomfy 'limbs poking out like alien' stage.

I hope she goes on maternity leave soon (as much as I'll miss the frocks) and has a good rest. Hopefully the press will back off and leave her be if she's not out and about for a bit.

Wondering if she and Harry will do the whole baby greeting the world on the hospital steps thing or keep to themselves? After the recent press coverage I wouldn't blame them for hiding away to be quite honest! It'd be lovely to see her dressed down in her yoga pants and flats but I doubt she'd be allowed.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 25/02/2019 10:17

I bet she would be allowed, but whether she'd want to is another question. I'm sure no one internal compelled Kate to get out on the steps of the hospital in a pale dress, heels and an immaculate professional blow dry within hours of giving birth, but she probably felt pressure to look good. Who'd be a woman, eh?

Spudlet · 25/02/2019 10:21

The steps thing will be a bit of a dilemma. If thy do, she'll no doubt be lambasted in the press for touching her newborn baby in an attention-seeking manner or 'competing with Kate' or somesuch other nonsense. If they don't, it can be spun into them being aloof and offish, and it raises the value of pap shots of the new baby. Really crap position to be in.

If they do, I hope she wears those flat slippers she likes and some soft comfy trousers with a flowy top - doesn't feel the need to go full heels and dress. I've always felt sorry for Kate doing that, although she obviously feels it's what she needs to do.

Hello again btw, have been lurking on and off but not posting for a while. Still like looking at the pretty dresses though!

motheroftinydragons · 25/02/2019 10:28

I agree @Spudlet. They can't win either way really. A quick hello probably increases the chances of them being left alone though. There is no power on earth that would've compelled me to get up and looking pretty in the 24 hours after I'd given birth either time even if I had the access to money and help like they do.

Depends also where she's choosing to give birth I suppose. No one actually knows obviously. She could be looking to stay at home or going somewhere other than The Lindo. She's an ex actress, she might be headed to The Portland or somewhere like it.

BlueJeansNiceTop · 25/02/2019 10:34

Hasn't she chosen Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey?

motheroftinydragons · 25/02/2019 10:36

No idea @BlueJeansNiceTop . Whatever's been reported may or may not be true although do they confirm to the press beforehand? I thought they did with about a month window with the DoC but could be wrong.

banivani · 25/02/2019 10:42

I love and adore Olivia Coleman and can heartily recommend David Tennant's podcast where he "interviews" her.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 25/02/2019 10:44

I think Meghan would get more kudos for wearing yoga pants and flats and one of Harry’s shirts on the steps of the Lindo wing.
Everyone knows that Kate is superhuman. It would do Meghan’s pr no end of good to look relatable rather than showing up as a polished, blow dried duchess 2.0
Luckily for Kate, despite th hg with all 3 pregnancies, it would appear that she had no problem with deliveries.
As we all know, another human being leaving your body can have any number of permutations.
She’s going to be moving house, so she should just lie low.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 25/02/2019 11:01

Kate is not superhuman Hmm. Nice to see people already lining up to slag Meghan off if she does come out looking polished and warning her to keep behind closed doors for fear of bad publicity...

frugalkitty · 25/02/2019 11:09

Meghan Green is seen in Morocco!

itswinetime · 25/02/2019 11:19

I think because DoC is giving birth to the heirs so to speak it is all a bit different for her.

Does anyone remember what Andrew and Fergie did pre? I know they had pictures after so I think we can expect that but did they announce before hand where and when?

Meghan will be criticised and then compared to Kate and probably Diana no matter what she does its ridiculous but that seems to be the story these days!

Spudlet · 25/02/2019 11:20

I'm not slagging anyone off! Hmm

Wetdogloveshubert · 25/02/2019 11:20

Meghan looks fab there, but I wish Harry had chosen a jacket without a hood. It spoils the line!

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/02/2019 11:22

Andrew and Fergie did the steps thing but then he's the child of the monarch rather than the stepchild.

Oh, a serious Freudian skip there Queen.

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/02/2019 11:30

Oops! That should've been grandchild, not stepchild!!

PineapplePower · 25/02/2019 11:37

Re Meghan “presenting” the baby on the steps thing, I recall Chelsea Clinton doing the same exact thing (blue dress even!), so it’s not a superhuman feat or anything. It shouldn’t even be a thing, but here we are.

But then, I guess Chelsea is as close to American royalty as you get (with the exception of Meghan Wink)

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 25/02/2019 11:51

On the topic of her evening wear choice, Meghan is beautiful and would look lovely in just about anything.

Having said that, that kaftan doesn’t look very comfy. Her bosom looks like it was hoiked up by a crane and held in place by scaffolding. The neckline looks like it might choke her.

Hats off to her for not looking like Demis Roussos though, as I would have done at a similar stage in pregnancy!

As others have said, the more obvious choice would have been to pick a kaftan made in Morocco. Why not highlight a company like Maison de Marrakech? It's based in London and imports handcrafted items from Marrakech.

@afifth
Meghan is moving house = knackering
Last month of pregnancy = knackering
She should lie low = have a rest

She should not bother dressing up, when presenting her newborn as a) it must be exhausting
And I repeat b) she would be more relateable in yoga pants

Kate has been described as superhuman, albeit tongue in cheek on these threads.

It is impossible to make any comment on these threads without the Meghan police jumping down your throat.

As I recall Sarah was wearing Yves St Laurent for Eugenie, as she got a lot of criticism for her weight, ie wearing a maternity dress with her first baby
