Let's keep criticism to the clothes rather than the women please...

I think it will depend on what type of delivery Meghan has as to when and how they might present Baby Sussex to the world. Kate must have had straightforward deliveries to have been able to do what she did, so maybe Meghan will follow suit. I'd like to see her in flats with jeans and a floaty top too, but mainly because I think that's the look that suits her best. She isn't as comfortable in formal as Kate (I think) and actually does smart casual very well. I'd quite like to see Harry carry the baby out too. I don't think the baby will be very big.....I'm going to say a girl, 7lb something. And not an overly traditional name, something a bit unusual but not too unusual vague and I'd really like an Eleanor after my DD

Tippexy · 25/02/2019 12:23

Harry has confirmed it's a girl, it wasn't very widely reported Smile

AFifthOfKoolAid · 25/02/2019 12:26

I didn't mean you, Spudlet.

I don't think she needs to be relatable.

TheDistantSky · 25/02/2019 12:36

@Tippexy really? Very exciting. Do you have a link?

queenofarles · 25/02/2019 12:38

It is impossible to make any comment on these threads without the Meghan police jumping down your throat I was just thinking that !

I would have loved seeing something by a Moroccan designer , I love this kaftan Chiara wore ,

Harry has confirmed it's a girl? Confused

Rhubarbisevil · 25/02/2019 12:57

It’s a girl.

Or a boy.

But definitely a baby.

motheroftinydragons · 25/02/2019 12:58

I wasn't saying she should present the baby to the world wearing yoga pants. Just that if that's what she wants to do then she should be able to rather than having to dress up just because the DoC did.

Perhaps DoC really wanted to dress they way she did. Who knows? Must have been a big effort though even with straight forward deliveries that we assume she had. She looked great all three times. Could be that it was like part of her work uniform to her as it were, like she had a five minute engagement that she had to look good for so she dressed appropriately.

They are Duchesses, but they are also women. Just women, like us all and the one time really they are just like us is during childbirth. What they do and wear afterwards should be up to them and not dictated by protocol or press etc.

BartonHollow · 25/02/2019 13:00

No

Someone shouted "I hope it's a girl"

And he shouted back "i hope so too"

So he has a preference

He confirmed nothing so that's why it wasn't "widely reported" Hmm

BartonHollow · 25/02/2019 13:04

This thread doesn't have Meghan Police

This thread has a Bitchy Unfounded Comments About Individuals That Aren't About Clothing Police

Oddly enough Meghan attracts the majority of this

But speculation has also been shut down about other royals and other topics

Notably Prince William, Prince Andrew And Prince Philip

HTH

AFifthOfKoolAid · 25/02/2019 13:05

I doubt there is a protocol around it, just fear of press vultures.

Kate looked better just after birth than I do when I'm dolled up for a wedding! I doubt there were any palace diktats telling her to do that, though. Not that she made the decision in a vacuum, but surely there is no such protocol.

Just looked up Sophie and Edward presenting James and she looks lovely! So serene and I love her hair that length. Normal clothes.

Aberforthsgoat · 25/02/2019 13:07

I really used to like these threads as a bit of escape from the daily meh that I’m dealing with but they have got a bit spikier of late especially in regards to Meghan

Aberforthsgoat · 25/02/2019 13:08

I think Kate and William probably thought five minutes outside then we can hide away and not release anything else/show them off until we are ready

AFifthOfKoolAid · 25/02/2019 13:11

Yes Aber. You can't call Meghan "Markle Antoinette" and then moan about people defending her.

frugalkitty · 25/02/2019 13:21

Aber I agree, I think they knew to give the press the steps photos and that by doing so, the press were more likely to leave them alone for a while. I think with all three they were kept firmly out of the public eye with just a couple of photos released after?

Spudlet · 25/02/2019 13:22

They are Duchesses, but they are also women. Just women, like us all and the one time really they are just like us is during childbirth. What they do and wear afterwards should be up to them and not dictated by protocol or press etc.

That's what I wanted to say, but did so much less eloquently!

Aber I'm sure that is a big part of the reason they did it and if H&M do choose to follow suit that will be why for them too. It means they get to choose the time and place of the first baby pics, and it devalues any blurry pap shots - why bother with those when you can use the full high-res ones that have been released already?

Aberforthsgoat · 25/02/2019 13:27

yes, I think in their position I'd do the same as W&K...but I wouldn't look half as good as Kate on a bad day (if she ever has one?!) :D

I have to admit the colour of the Dior is growing on me the more I see it. I do love her casual looks though, I wish I could emulate it but I'm a short pear shape, I'm not sure it would work for me sadly...sigh.

BartonHollow · 25/02/2019 13:29

Also short and pear Aber Grin

That Dior would look hideous on me, the Press would have me in the stocks

frugalkitty · 25/02/2019 13:34

Back in Black!! This I like!

OlennasWimple · 25/02/2019 13:35

When I read "presenting the baby", I think of that bit in the Lion King where baby Simba is held up for all the animals to see Smile

hopeishere · 25/02/2019 13:37

She has a weird outfit on for the last engagement. A dress and jacket. It looks like she's pulled a skirt up over her boobs.

Re the steps. She'd dammed if she does and dammed if she doesn't. If she does "a Kate" she's being subjugated by what's expected of her. If she does yoga pants and a top she's cocking a snook to Kate's version. Very hard.

Also DM sniping Kate "snubbed" the baby shower.

Aberforthsgoat · 25/02/2019 13:38

@bartonhollow we're definitely twins! Grin

Aberforthsgoat · 25/02/2019 13:39

dammit Olenna now I have Lion King songs in my head Smile

frugalkitty · 25/02/2019 13:39

I was thinking earlier (looking at photos on IG) and I'd like to say how envious I am that her fingers haven't swelled up into sausages so she can still wear her wedding and engagement rings! Mine have never gone back after DS1 who is nearly 16, and I have a few lovely rings that I can't wear as they're too small. There was one photo that showed her engagement ring off beautifully, it's such a gorgeous ring.

frugalkitty · 25/02/2019 13:40

The Lion King is my favourite Disney film! They could do a Mitch and Cam scene from Modern Family, now that would really give the press something to get stuck into Grin
