I'm sure she could single handedly revive the fortunes of M&S and encourage harm to make decent clothes again Grin

BrizzleMint · 24/02/2019 23:36

^ them not harm !

Rhubarbisevil · 25/02/2019 01:09

Yes to M&S! 😆

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 25/02/2019 03:32

That kaftan looks like a stretchy one size fits all sofa cover.
Meghan looks awful.
Another hugely expensive Dior maternity dress which will never see the light of day again.
Wasteful.
She should have worn one of two things; a beautiful local designer as a compliment to her hosts or as I’ve said many times and has been said upthread, she should wear British.

On foreign tours, she is a British duchess representing Britain.
A diplomat for the UK, funded by Us.
She is an intelligent woman. But now round the world people will be browsing the Dior website.
Claire Waight Keller may be British, but she works for a French brand.
Britain needs all the trade boost it can get but it’s not going to come from Markle Antoinette.

BartonHollow · 25/02/2019 03:44

Think that's a bit strict Curly

Still British Talent

Stella was still the daughter of a working class Liverpudlian when she was at Chloe

banivani · 25/02/2019 04:39

I love the dior dress. Who said matronly in a good way? That’s exactly it. Queenly. You swan in with Althusser floppy fabric wafting around you. Super!

The Swedish rf are pals with the owners of H&M so wearing the brand reeks a litre of favouritism. But like I said, we have no real critique of the rf here. It’s gossip or fawning really. And no one wants to be mean to CPV because she seems lovely.

queenofarles · 25/02/2019 04:56

I kinda agree curly that wearing something local would have been a nice gesture, there are some incredible kaftan designers in Morocco ,not cheap though but no way near Dior bespoke and a million times nicer . I always like to browse at the tiny shops at small courtyard in the Mamounia hotel , they have the most beautiful kaftans ever. And it’s from all over the country . It’s really incredible how Each region has its own Distinctive embroidery , at Fez the emobroidary is so intricate , and always looks beautiful on silk kaftan.

"Markle Antoinette"? Sorry but has this turned into Mail Online suddenly?

OlennasWimple · 25/02/2019 06:11

There's a challenge for us: dress the duchesses completely in M&S...!

Rhubarbisevil · 25/02/2019 06:15

Well,it could be worse. Have you seen some of those Oscar dresses? Are we now expected to float along dressed as Barbara Cartland? ShockShockShock

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/02/2019 06:17

'Cartland Chic' is a term I thought we'd never use Wink

OP posts:
megletthesecond · 25/02/2019 06:29

I'm loving "Cartland Chic".

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/02/2019 06:32

The caftan-y dress Kate wore when pregnant was very Cartland Chic

I love the Dior, I didn't like the red.
Lots of people have commented the stitching on the Dior looked poor, I haven't seen pics like that so if anyone would post that would be great. I thought the sparkle on it was amazing.

LovingLola · 25/02/2019 07:43

Markle Antoinette"? Sorry but has this turned into Mail Online suddenly?
Well, it has always been obvious from the very beginning which posters on these threads do not like Meghan. 🙄

The young woman who did her henna tattoo must be in a state of absolutel joy!! It was lovely to see it with the Dior dress !

beanaseireann · 25/02/2019 07:45

Apparently Primark in the UK is better than Penneys in Ireland though they are the same company the stock can be different.
I think it's owned ultimately by the Canadian Weston family., as is Selfridges.

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/02/2019 07:50

@PeakTransedAgain Check out the Mad about Meghan blog. Charlotte who runs it always has great photos on there and I find her commentary balanced and thoughtful.

Having given this a lot of thought overnight Blush surely the ultimate British designer for Meghan is Kin at John Lewis?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 25/02/2019 07:59

You can see it in the photo Peridito posted above, and once you see it you cannot unseen it, peaktransed.

It's the dress, not Meghan, she looked lovely, but for a Dior dress the stitching was a bit per Una.

frugalkitty · 25/02/2019 08:03

Lola I agree, it was lovely to see the henna with the Dior gown.

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/02/2019 08:09

@AnnaMagnani I think of Kin as John Lewis Cos!

OP posts:
Paradyning · 25/02/2019 08:10

Ha yes! Very per una!

Paradyning · 25/02/2019 08:12

Was thinking last night too. Vivienne Westwood is now a Dame - so she must be very accepting of, and had acceptance by the Establishment. Despite her great history

peridito · 25/02/2019 08:17

and finally ,which gives a better idea of it in motion .

Really I think it's v hard to get a true idea from still photos . I imagine that in the flesh it was lovely .I can just make out the sheen of the fabric which with the sparkly edging I imagine was lovely .

but I don't like that high tight looking neckline ,or the crossover bit .Softening on the colour as think as said upthread the flashes will have drained it .
