Mother Timeless is such a nostalgic scent for me. i couldn't get on with by the fireplace tho.

Yes, I know what you mean. It doesn't hit any big emotional memory triggers for me, though -- this is an interesting point. I am going to try to examine my memory bank of nostalgic smells... (I don't think any of them will be perfumes specifically as nobody I grew up around wore any, but certainly PP By The Fireplace evokes something of the wood stove and burning cedar logs so perhaps that is why I loved it so much immediately!)

Kalifornia, on me, Scherzo is like a massive great pear drop collided with an incredibly expensive florist's shop. The pear drop smell dies down and it gets a little oudy but in a very sweet way. I can't identify the types of flower but they smell expensive . I love it and come back to it a lot.

SO cold in my stupid house today that I've had to resort to a hot bath to try and warm up. Now in pyjamas, dressing gown, fluffy socks and Creamy Vanilla Crumble. About to get stuck into a huge bowl of mac and cheese. Nose is bright red with incoming cold. Am literally a GODDESS.

SOTD MMM Fireplace. I haven’t left the house all day, between the weather and feeling grotty. maud we just had cottage pie and broccoli, then apple pie and custard. Proper comfort food.

teta, that sounds delicious. Why are you using almond milk -- for the flavour? (I would have assumed vegan but the white chocolate sounds non-vegan...)

SOTD Marina Barcenilla Spring Rain. I like it a lot but not quite enough to be able to justify a full bottle, so am enjoying using up my sample.

SOTE is now 4160 Centrepiece. I got a strong blast of anise when I put it on this time and I can't figure out if it's because I layered it over the last of Spring Rain, or if it was there last time and I just didn't notice!

Very tempted by the sound of 4160 Amberama, which is their half price scent of the week.

I need to re-try my Amberama sample tomorrow I think, and maybe indulge myself with a little half-price scent. I can't really remember what I thought of it although I'm sure it's my kinda thing

SOTD is Floral Street Ylang Ylang Expresso. I love the massive white flower hit laced with ground coffee & a hint of seaside donkey fur. YYE makes me feel Christmas & Summer all rolled into one & I'm reminded of being a child & going to the posh department store food hall at Christmas that smelt of freshly ground & roasted coffee. Memories of childhood Mediterranean
holidays (& those UK seaside donkey rides) & grown up holidays in Greece/Cyprus.
I think I'm liking this just as much as London Poppy, so need want a full size too.

By donkey fur I mean that salty leathery smell. (as I know some donkeys can smell ahem a bit rank.)

SOTD MMM Lazy Sunday Morning. On a Friday, like a rebel.

I had a lovely trip to Libertys last week, where I was able to test as many of the perfumes as I wanted. The sales assistants are very knowledgeable and don’t pester, but at the same time are there if you want them. I tried all of these on tester strips (mouillettes):

Kurkdjian A La Rose - pleasant but not interesting enough for me.

Van Cleef Gardenia Petale - Nice, but I don’t think I like gardenia as a main note.

Houbigant Quelque Fleurs - good quality floral, but didn’t sing to me.

Robert Piguet Fracas - tuberose, which I like, but that was just too heady and bubble-gummy

Hermes Un Jardin Sur La Lagune - hated this as on me it smelled like a pungent, cheap, man’s perfume, cheap and woodsy. (NB I love Un Jardin Sur Le Nil, and always have a bottle.)

Diptyque Do Son - pleasant, wearable tuberose with other florals. I wouldn’t buy this as I already have Madonna Truth or Dare for when I want a tuberose fix.

Frederick Malle Carnal Flower - classy, heady tuberose, easier to wear than Fracas, but for me as above re Madonna. (My sister loved this one. They do a hair oil spray in this fragrance, which smelt amazing on her.)

Diptyque Fleur de Peau - this is definitely a grower. It is a quiet musky iris and smells like the softest cuddliest skin, only more. Tester needed.

Byredo La Tulipe - this is a beautiful, distinctive floral, fairly quiet but long-lasting on the tester strip. Tester needed.

Hermes Un Jardin En Mediterranee - dry, fragrant, herby with some citrus. Beautiful. Will have a good spray at a department store to test.

Le Labo Santal 33 - I decided to try this after all the recommendations on here, but didn’t like it on the testing strip initially. But several hours later, and several days actually, the strip smells amazing. Tester needed.

Van Cleef & Arpel First - this is a floral with oomph, a “proper” perfume. I loved it and am gutted that I saw it in TK Maxx, but didn’t risk a blind buy.

Le Labo Thé Noir - interesting smokey tea with depth. Loved it, but may be a bit too similar to Imaginary Authors’ O, Unknown! (I already have a bottle of this.). May get a sample of it.

Wow, that is quite the sniff-fest, calm! Love Liberty, my happy place.

I tested Byredo La Tulipe about a year ago and remember really liking it, best of the Byredos imo. Might try and get myself a sample - ebay usually comes up trumps.

What a smelling spree, calm! I love being able to smell things in real life. Although they often smell totally different on my skin, so I really need to restrict myself to trying out four a day (one on each wrist, one on each inside elbow).

SOTD is Miller Harris Coeur de Jardin, which I find I return to regularly and particularly like wearing when I know I'm going to be out in the fresh air as I really love how it smells in that context.
