New thread for scented discussion, plus cats, teeth, and cats with problem teeth. Everyone welcome, we are as friendly as the title suggests!

Lovely bright sunny day here, needed after no sleep with a teething monster. SOTD is 4160 White Queen which I haven't worn for weeks, and adore.

67chevvyimpala · 01/04/2019 12:39

Snow showers predicted here from tomorrow!

1frenchfoodie · 01/04/2019 21:10

You lovely people have led me astray. I finally cracked and spent some birthday money on Bois d’ascèse (Naomi Goodsir) - promising DH to spray away from him as he dislikes it. Somehow 11 samples of other scents jumped into my basket too Blush

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/04/2019 21:29

Thank you mother. Glad you’re feeling better, chevvy.

SOTD Bella Freud Close to my Heart. I keep sniffing the Tauer lily of the valley, and love it so much. It might be my next full bottle. I spent today running boring errands, then working on my side project (writing exams and modules) with the Tauer in mind.

Sote pp by the fireplace

MotherOfDragonite · 01/04/2019 23:29

chevvy, you mention it so much that I feel compelled to order some and try it out!

No SOTE here as the Scherzo lasts so well (and I'm still in the mood). DD1 still poorly and I'm still exhausted. I got my essays in yesterday though. Not sure what I was thinking when deciding to do a masters -- a triumph of hope over reality?! Any other single mums here?

1frenchfoodie · 02/04/2019 03:57

Single mum + master mother, you must smell of self discipline and determination! My partner is a SAHD and still I’m not on top of house, garden or most life admin.

Is pp by the fireplace true to the MMM chevy ? I like that though find it a bit too sweet/vanilla so anything leaning further that way would be a no no.

My big lot of (11) samples arrives tomorrow. I am irrationally excited.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 02/04/2019 07:02

mother, I feel your pain - I was a single parent when I did my MSc, working shifts and doing on-calls at the same time, utter nightmare but it was worth it in the end, especially when you see that work published. Now I supervise other people's MSc dissertations - keep going, you can do it! Grin

SOTD is Sundrunk by Imaginary Authors. Big juicy oranges - fabulous for a hot sunny day but perhaps not quite so appropriate for a chilly morning like this!

CountFosco · 02/04/2019 07:25

Horrendous day yesterday. Car broke down on my commute, got it off the dual carriageway at 5mph and onto a quiet street, called the RAC at 6.40 and they said it would be 2h. 2h later no-one has turned so I call again and they tell me at least another 2h! So I call a local firm and they got to me in 30 mins. But I was so cold and it was my period so feeling very sorry for myself. Got home, doused myself in Etui Noir and wore acosy woollen dress. Still haven't got the final cost of repairs from the garage so WFH again today. Think I can cope with a more cheerful perfume today so wearing Fleur d'oranger baie rose.

67chevvyimpala · 02/04/2019 09:11

I think it's very true to the original. Maybe not as sweet?

count nightmare!!!

Sotd AT ACDD

teta · 02/04/2019 09:29

I’m seriously impressed too Mother.
Anyone seen the query in further education about someone expecting twins in August and asking whether she can resume her course 2 months later😁.
Everyone’s saying no, definitely not, not surprisingly.
Judy Carillon Pour Un ange is my favourite Tauer. However I find it so powerful that you only need one spray. 2-3 sprays and I can taste it 😩. I’ve just ordered 2 of the samples and I can envisage them lasting for months if not years. I’m wondering if Andy actually sells many bottles of this particular perfume?
Hope you have a better day today Count.
Sotd is Patchouli Clouds.

Calmasasleepycat · 02/04/2019 10:10

Judy and teta this is what I wrote when I first tried Carillon.

Have been wearing Carillon pour un Ange today. Was there ever a nicer name - Chime for an Angel? It’s so beautiful, opening with squished green stems, lily of the valley, and strong lilac notes. There are some indolic notes, perhaps from jasmine. The effect is like a whole bush of lilac in bloom all at once, where you wonder if it’s overwhelming and then realise you can’t stop smelling it. As with all Tauer there is a richness underlying everything. It lasted most of the day.

I have tried it several times since and there’s still some left in the tester. The opening notes remind me very much of the opening notes of Zoologist Elephant, but the development is quite different. I would love to buy a full bottle as I really enjoy the mixture of lily of the valley and lilac. It’s heady and indolic, rather than fresh. I want to buy a full bottle of either Au Coeur du Desert or Zoologist Civet, so the Carillon will have to wait. But may well buy another discovery set.

KaliforniaDreamz · 02/04/2019 10:13

Morning All
Am having a crapp time with peri menopause and dousing myself in TImeless for the comfort.
I found PP By the fireplace too sweet and gave it away. sorry.

I hope you're all on course for better days ahead. I am very impresed with the credentials on this thread!

FloofyCat · 02/04/2019 10:36

Mother I've literally just seen your post, I have some By the Fireplace I've been trying to offload for ages as it doesn't suit me (sorry Chevvy!) so I'll pop some in for you - pls excuse the mangled packaging! I'm just on my way to the post office Smile

67chevvyimpala · 02/04/2019 10:43

Some very clever ladies on this thread!!

(Well, on mn in general tbh)

I'm joining a gym! dont laugh 🤣🤣

My menopausal weight gain has gone unchecked for too long!

teta · 02/04/2019 11:09

I’m furious with myself. I’ve missed a really important appointment yesterday as I thought it was today. Bloody menopausal forgetfulness and general idiocy😡.
I can recommend Hrt patches..... but they don’t seem to work on the brain.

67chevvyimpala · 02/04/2019 11:57

Oh teta!

I feel your pain. I used to be relatively organised!

FloofyCat · 02/04/2019 12:31

I've finally sent off my parcels to whoever I promised them to, interested to hear opinions!

I also share the pain of forgetfulness (do we need another Venn diagram? Wink) but mine is brain related made worse by epilepsy meds -dreading adding menopause issues in top of that! To be honest, I keep forgetting who people are here after the name changes BlushIn awe of people here "proper" studying - I'm doing a MOOC (is that the term?) and struggling a bit due to said memory but I thought it would give me a sense of achievement and DH bought me a fab fountain pen for it so I have to do it Grin we definitely need another Venn!

SOTD Seville a l'aube as I was desperately hoping to feel Spring like, went outside and it started bloody sleeting Hmm so will have to swap to something more apt.

Welcome all de-lurkers, is it the time of year to talk about Yardley Jade - especially for green lovers? Much love for this here previously and an absolute steal - is it Cristalle it resembles?

67chevvyimpala · 02/04/2019 13:18

It's a great bargain:)
And yes it's a very, very good dupe for chanel christalle.
No spring scents here...its horrid and cold out.
I'm loving ACDD today. It's like catnip to me :)

67chevvyimpala · 02/04/2019 13:34

I'm considering it (further education that is).

But..brexshit. sigh.

teta · 02/04/2019 14:27

I’m skiving today as dh is away and it’s lovely to have the house to myself.
So far today:
I’ve forgotten I’d left cashmere in the tumble dryer. Luckily it’s recycled cashmere from Turtle dove and hasn’t shrunk.
Accidentally Washed a £10 & £20 note in my trouser pocket.
Yesterday I bought pizza for ds2 but when I got home I couldn’t find it anywhere. Went back to the supermarket and it hadn’t been handed in. I think it must have slid off the roof of my car as that’s where I think I put it🤦🏼‍♀️.
I need a brain intervention. I’m not sure I have enough brain left to do any more degrees.

FloofyCat · 02/04/2019 15:05

Teta If it makes you feel any better I got fully dressed earlier then realised I hadn't put my knickers on...

Did the notes come out of the wash OK?

KaliforniaDreamz · 02/04/2019 16:11

I'm already on the gel!!!

yeah brain is wrecked

67chevvyimpala · 02/04/2019 16:14

I have a thing at 7.30 later.

Forgot totally last week.

Sigh.
