Thank you melen

SoyYo · 01/03/2019 15:26

@ella now I see your posts: glad you’re already starting to think about Rome, agree not the place to clothes and shoe shop (plus Italian shoes and wide feet make me wince) but the place to sightsee in the sunshine with fabulous sunglasses you just picked up to the sound of “Bella! Bella!” 😎

@melen you are so wise, and have iron will 💪

@soups I don’t want to turn this thread into a “poor me” eulogy since I do like my curls now most of the time but HATED them growing up and as a teen as my DM didn’t know how to take care of them either. I longed for swishy straight hair and nowadays there’s lots of advice for caring for curls and I could write a whole book on the topic. My teens were particularly painful on the hair front so I do understand your DD fretting (let alone with the additional challenges). Get her the Amazon book. Flowers

dontcallmelen · 01/03/2019 15:32

Cod it might look fab, all the fashionistas are raving about it.
Next have a couple of really nice cotton ombré jumpers for £30.00 also have the cotton open knit hush type jumpers for about the same & mint green & lemon sweatshirt tops.

dontcallmelen · 01/03/2019 15:40

Soy😘 Yy the angst of curly hair when you are young, my Ds was the same & dgd has a head of white blonde curls, at least now products & awareness is much better dd already never brushes dgd hair & uses sulphate free & uses copious amounts of conditioner on her hair.
Ooh yes shopping our wardrobes, I think tbh not buying has been ok as it’s forced me to wear stuff I have already & have found an embarrassing amount of jumpers that haven’t even had labels taken off them😳

twosoups1972 · 01/03/2019 15:46

Thank you soy have ordered the book Smile dd's hair is better already, the Cantu curl activator is good stuff. Can I ask - is a tangle teazer ok to use? We've abandoned the hair brush completely but I need to use something to put her hair into a pony tail for school. And she's very fussy about 'bumps'

twosoups1972 · 01/03/2019 15:57

soy looking forward to hearing about the ombre tee in S Smile

Ellapaella · 01/03/2019 17:08

I want to order something just not sure exactly what. The Oakland is nice but reading reviews is massive and doesn't wash well.
What are all your thoughts on the dresses? Anything that would be suitable for warm sunny Rome weather? (Am thinking around 18 degrees so could be work with jacket). I need inspiration! (And a great)

Ellapaella · 01/03/2019 17:09

TREAT! OMG auto correct is so annoying.

Laska2Meryls · 01/03/2019 17:13

Have just got in from the garden where we have been hedging all day , Its lovely having a huge garden but basically the hedge is a field hedge with spindleberry field maple , hawthorn and blackthorn (and bramble) ..

Am knackered..And punctured, and need Gin . But nope, I have to go pick DGS 6 up from the ferry as he is with us for the weekend.. I am mad aren't I?

Wasnt rocking any Hush today as you can imagine .. My Ombre T (ordered both the S & M in the end) hopefully here tomorrow..

Laska2Meryls · 01/03/2019 17:21

Thanks so much Cherries for posting the very detailed info about your recovery process. It sounds like they are going to make such a difference to you.. Perky is fab!! I am still interested in maybe going for this myself in the future , so it is really good to hear from someone like you about the recovery..

dontcallmelen · 01/03/2019 17:22

Crikey Laska you are a glutton for punishment, definitely get the Gim out looking forward to seeing the ombré on you, am hoping they will still have some left when I can order.
Ella maybe the cotton lace one? I pp about some nice cotton sweatshirts/jumpers next have in the new summer range, could be worth a look.

dontcallmelen · 01/03/2019 17:25

Yy perky boobs am wel jel, mine are the total opposite of perkiness they just seem to hang rather than sit😳😳

dontcallmelen · 01/03/2019 17:26

Gin ffs this autocorrect hates me.

SoyYo · 01/03/2019 17:32

I’m sorry I’m so late...Sod’s law I had a crazy work day today with lots of calls/deadlines.
Anyhow attaching pic of ombré T in S. please forgive the quality and lack of styling, it’s just a snap as light is fading

SoyYo · 01/03/2019 17:33

It’s quite a bit shorter than the M. Even though it’s not so roomy I think I’m keeping the M and returning the S

SoyYo · 01/03/2019 17:35

Yes @Ella the broderie black dress is so Med Chic, I think you’ll look great in it and easy to add a denim jacket or cardigan to it

SoyYo · 01/03/2019 17:40

@Ella I meant this
www.hush-uk.com/womenswear/daywear/dresses_skirts/jersey_broderie_dress_black.htm
Or what about this
www.hush-uk.com/farah_midi_firework_star_black.htm?trackterm=Farah
Upthread a new poster said she’s ordered it and will report back...

But I haven’t looked anywhere for dresses lately so there may be some fab ones elsewhere

neveradullmoment99 · 01/03/2019 17:43

Well imo the medium is the best out of the two. I like it looser on you @soyo and I agree the smaller looks way shorter, so definitely agree with you but it is good to know for sure by comparing the two.

I so love the colour on you. Its so gorgeous.
@Laska, would love to see it on you too.

SoyYo · 01/03/2019 17:47

@soups I don’t use a tangle teezer but I know lots of curlies rate them highly. I’m glad you’ve ordered the book! It has lots of ideas and will help you identify your DD’s curl type and give her (you) lots of tips on styling and home made remedies to refresh, etc.
Usually I disentangle my hair with a very wide tooth comb in the shower with tons of conditioner on. Sometimes I just use my fingers to detangle as it’s kinder but super time consuming so for a younger teen may be too much unless she wants to have a go...
The thing is the moment you start combing curls (once dry and set with cantu custard or CG friendly gel) you shouldn’t really comb “through” it as you lose the curl definition and that’s when the frizz takes over. If she needs a pony tail for school then once hair is dry I would just use a loose scrunchie to tie back her curls (if her hair is very long) and try and disturb the curl pattern as little as possible...
Talking of which I’m due for a co-wash so I’m off to shower and disentangle Grin

SoyYo · 01/03/2019 17:49

Ah cheers @never I’m really frazzled here after crazy work and just threw it on as promised. M all the way it’s got a boho vibe I prefer too, thanks for confirming my gut instinct

SoyYo · 01/03/2019 18:00

@laska sorry I was too late posting and you ended up ordering both sizes but I’ll be interested to see them both on you as if we both agree M is best then it’ll save us a few pennies in the future with similar styles knowing we are the same size (though with Hush you never know)

One last piece of advice for @soups DD. Curly hair takes forever to dry, so I do use a hairdryer unless I have tons of time or it’s high summer. But if you haven’t got a diffuser for DD please invest in one ASAP as a hair drying curls without a diffuser is as disastrous as brushing it, the diffuser allows the curls to dry fast without blowing them out into wicked witch of the east look

dontcallmelen · 01/03/2019 18:03

Soy Yy Medium ombré, hope you have a well deserved relaxing weekend 🍷 & if it was Ds appointment today, hope that went well.

twosoups1972 · 01/03/2019 18:35

laska that sounds like a lovely day but not surprised you are knackered. Hope you have a lovely weekend with DGS, what are you planning to do?

soy thanks for posting the S ombre pic, definitely worth comparing and glad you are happy with the M. I might order both sizes to try but will wait to see if there is a discount coming up.

None of use a hairdryer in this house! Dd washes her in the evening, I put the Cantu on and then she leaves it to dry naturally before bed. She likes it in a high ponytail for school hence having to use the tangle teezer. I'll see if I can persuade her to just have a loose low ponytail. Thanks for all the tips Smile

ilovecherries · 01/03/2019 18:52

Haha, laska, I did think after posting that it might be TMI and hoped no one was eating their lunch!

I just was fitted for a sports bra this evening to fit over the compression dressings when I’m walking, and I needed a 32FF. I guess from a K/L that’s not too bad with a bit to go, as without the dressings I would probably be fine in an F.
