Completely missed the ball with the previous thread so hope this thread is easy enough to find!

If Baby Sussex is a boy, he'll be Baby Dumbarton. Smile

Wheeesht · 25/01/2019 14:33

Baby Dumbarton Road would be better

(that's one for any Glaswegians out there)

Wheeesht · 25/01/2019 14:37

Tortycat I've never even thought about royals having gift registries before but it makes sense I suppose as guests are going to want to give a gift, even if the couple are wealthy royals! As an aside I bet you'd get much better presents from a celeb guest, Elton John for example, than from some dusty old Marquess.

SenecaFalls · 25/01/2019 14:39

On the Dumbarton theme, this has been in my head all morning:

My Johnnie is a handsome laddie
And though he is Dumbarton's caddie,
Some day I'll be a captain's lady
When Johnnie tends his vows tae me.

CreakyBlinder · 25/01/2019 14:45

See, we would use Dumbarton as rhyming slang for farting Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/01/2019 15:03

I read that their gift registry was only for close family and friends and they asked the majority of we'll wishers to donate to their favourite charities. Apparently William and Kate did the same, so I guess that's where they got the idea.

Then again both stories could be bollocks!

Uh, have I missed something?

I dun understaaaaand!

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/01/2019 15:04

@DontCallMeCharlotte I think it means that if the baby is a boy he could be Viscount Dumbarton.

Okay I've googled. Ignore me.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 25/01/2019 15:17

Ooh ooh. Went for a haircut today. Asked my stylist if she reckoned Kate has extensions. She said "ooh no! That hair is all real! You'd spot them a mile off and believe me I've looked". She was quite adamant.

Paradyning · 25/01/2019 15:46

@Wheeesht ha! I knew you were Glaswegian by your username. Love that phrase.
Love Dumbarton Road too!

beanaseireann · 25/01/2019 16:07

I hope they didn't have a gift register. A bit greedy if they did. Surely a donation to their favourite charity would be better.

AdaColeman · 25/01/2019 16:29

Let's hope the Baby doesn't inherit his ears from Charles, or he will be Baby Dumbo! Grin

BertrandRussell · 25/01/2019 16:36

“Let's hope the Baby doesn't inherit his ears from Charles”

I would say that there was literally no chance of that- but I won’t. Because people will be cross with me. Grin

strangerthongs · 25/01/2019 16:43

Scumbarton the locals call it

Meghan out and about....any chance to remind us she's pregnant

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/01/2019 16:55

@beanaseireann If the story is to be believed they did both, as did W&K. But anyone can make up a story about a 'secret' registry.

Camilla wearing a very nice red coat and a dress of dubious pattern underneath today.

MakeItAmazing · 25/01/2019 17:22

Except you did, B, and it's old and boring and disrespectful. And he's Charles'

BertrandRussell · 25/01/2019 17:28

“and it's old and boring and disrespectful.”
I know. But entertaining.
Incidentally- disrespectful? Am I supposed to respect these people? Why?

Happy to admire or otherwise their clothes, and follow the gossip, but respect? Nope.

SenecaFalls · 25/01/2019 17:32

He would be Earl of Dumbarton, as a courtesy title. Harry would continue to be the actual Earl of Dunbarton. So they need to pick a first name that goes with Dunbarton. Something Scottish perhaps? Fergus? Hamish?

But then after the Queen dies, he'll be a prince (unless LPs are amended or they decide to go the Wessex route) so it should also be a somewhat princely name. I like James, but they likely won't use that because of James Severn.

But I think it's going to be a girl, Lady Doria Mountbatten-WIndsor. Smile

Wetdogloveshubert · 25/01/2019 17:35

I really feel the need to take Friday 1st Feb off all of a sudden, or visit some clients in the city centre Grin

BertrandRussell · 25/01/2019 17:38

There’s an Eightsome Reel called Dumbarton. Perfect for the christening.

MakeItAmazing · 25/01/2019 17:44

It's not entertaining. Disrespectful as you're implying Diana would get pregnant by someone other than her husband and disrespectful to Harry when it's using him as your entertainment . Would you like it if people spread malicious rumours that your kids weren't your husbands ?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 25/01/2019 17:45

So if it’s a boy; will his surname at school be Dumbarton, Sussex or Mountbatten Windsor?
William and Harry were Wales as children and now William’s family are Cambridge. No wonder they just use their first names.

BertrandRussell · 25/01/2019 17:48

The baby will be Sussex, surely?
