Completely missed the ball with the previous thread so hope this thread is easy enough to find!

Harebell that's a really interesting article about Daniel. I knew he was a gym owner/trainer but not much else. I wonder which Danish prince she was 'lined up' for, I assume Frederick although he'd met Mary by the time V met D. The last comment about him being miffed that he won't become king is interesting, especially after watching 'Mary, Queen of Scots' this week...hundreds of years on and men (like Prince Henrik of Denmark) still take issue with not assuming the title King when their wife is a queen.

Quantumblue · 25/01/2019 08:27

It would have been confusing if Victoria had married Fred as they are each due to be monarch of their respective countries.

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/01/2019 09:05

Something like that could still happen - Estelle might like the look of Christian of Denmark in about 20 years time! And if they had a child who married Ingrid of Norway's child then the child of that union would bring all the Scandinavian crowns together. Almost like medieval times.

Maybe I should become a royal matchmaker...Grin

Grin good plan Queen

Who would we marry the Cambridges off to then?

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/01/2019 09:31

Well given the change in law a few years ago, George could marry Jacques of Monaco if they were that way inclined! Or are heirs to the throne still forbidden to marry catholics?

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/01/2019 09:34

Leonor of Spain is about the same age as Sverre-Magnus of Norway, isn't she? Another match there Grin But she's a beautiful little girl and he already looks like a middle-aged bank manager so maybe not!!

Great article about Prince Daniel @harebellmeadow
It’s good to see that the Swedish “grey men” were actually very supportive of him.

He was being speculated about back in 2003. Was funny to hear that he would run away as fast as he could if he saw a photographer.

I thought the glasses were just an affectation, but he did wear them before; just a different style. ( good body too!)

Very dry about the catholic quote @Queen Grin

However, I have wondered about this; if George did turn out to be gay, and legally married his life partner. So we would have a King and Prince consort. (Cool!)
However if they wanted their own children, they would need a donor egg and surrogate. Bearing in mind that George would not be married to the egg donor, the child would be illegitimate. ( archaic word) and wouldn’t be allowed to ascend the throne, as the letters patent stand....

Charlotte to Prince Vince of Norway.
However I’m sure that MarieChantal would try & muscle in with one of her 4 boys.

No I think Charlotte is due to be the next Princess Royal and will marry a hot, sporty bloke who adores her. ( a bit like Mke Tindall and Zara)

Prince William talking about mental health in Davos

I think it is normal to talk about it for his generation. However given the family he comes from; it must have been such a huge taboo. Good on him & Kate for making these conversations happen.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 25/01/2019 10:08

Sophie visiting a care home a couple of days ago.
Nothing sensational fashion wise. However she is such an unsung hero of the RF; it is just good to see her.

I think it's quite shocking that celebrities shunned William's mental health charity:

The stigma around mental health needs to disappear sharpish.

BlingLoving · 25/01/2019 10:20

Every time someone mentions Charlene, I'm reminded of this fiction book I read a few years ago. The author writes bonk busters and this was her latest one. It was clearly a thinly disguised (fictional) version of the real world in which the character who was clearly charlene had serious issues and was basically forced to marry Albert and act as his beard of sorts. Meanwhile, the diana character had faked her own death and was living in a compound in the middle east. The Kate/William characters were disturbing and the William character had lots of "posh weird" sexual proclivities.

I found the whole book annoying. I'd read a few of them before and always found them entertaining and good light entertainment (with hilariously hardcore sex scenes) but it put me off her. I did wonder if her other books were similarly thinly disguised fictional versions of real people, just real people I didn't follow in real life and therefore didn't recognise.

LaurenOrdering · 25/01/2019 10:24

@BlingLoving I've read that book too. I'll never look at a banana in the same way again Grin

BlingLoving · 25/01/2019 10:26

@laurenOrdering - Yup, the banana thing stands out. Grin And annoyed me actually!! (But as I've always believed that the younger royals are really just normal people doing the best they can, I think it infuriated me for that reason!).

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 25/01/2019 10:40

Good for William calling out the celebrities.
One good thing about the RF’s position is that they automatically get AirPlay, and if they use that voice for good, they can persist with that agenda for years, till it eventually gets accepted.
Look at Prince Charles and the environment. He’s been talking about it since 1970. Way before it was fashionable.

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/01/2019 12:09

Some Meghan news - she's visiting the National Theatre on Weds, the ACU on Thurs, and then both she and Harry are off to Bristol on Friday. You can't deny she's hit the ground running!

OP posts:
CurlyWurlyTwirly · 25/01/2019 12:13

Sounds like you will need to be poised for a new thread @Queen.!
What’s the ACU btw?

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/01/2019 12:18

Association of Commonwealth Universities, one of her patronages.

I wonder when the baby is really due, she’s cramming in a lot of engagements. I reckon it’s coming in March. Meghan probably won’t take a full maternity leave either; she’s a woman on a mission.
Would be fantastic if once the bf’ing was over; Harry becomes a visible full time dad.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 25/01/2019 12:27

I can totally see this, even though it was made up as a pastiche.
Why not 50/50 parenting? Both their jobs are equally important.

How to buy Meghan’s shoes

I’m not a big heels wearer, but I love her shoes.
The article does versions at all price points.

LaurenOrdering · 25/01/2019 14:10

KP said baby Sussex is due in the Spring. Spring can be March 1st (meteorological) or March 20th/21st (astronomical - spring equinox)
I'll go for bang in the middle & say 10th.

Tortycat · 25/01/2019 14:27

A link posted previously said m&h had a 'wedding registry' at Soho House. Seems a bit greedy when they already have everything inc frogmore and renovations as a gift from the queen!
