Previous thread.

Usual rules - say what you like about the clothes, keep it civil re the wearers.

Mikado Flowers. Please ask for help you deserve to have sunshine not grey skies.

Paradyning · 12/01/2019 19:48

I think they are paid to attend that event. They go every year now.

Becles · 12/01/2019 21:22

Have been reading the twitter and Facebook reactions to Meghan's appointment as the national theatre patron. Lots of threatened flounces because she's apparently unsuitable and lots of implied (but not articulated) reasons for why she's a disaster ....

A former actress with a double degree in theatre studies and international relations is less suitable than people who've never worked a day in their lives Hmm

frugalkitty · 12/01/2019 22:39

I’ve just read the article in the DM, gosh it was well written. The bit where he said that the extra time he had for exams just gave him more time to realise he couldn’t answer the questions brought tears to my eyes. My DS sits GCSEs this summer and I’d hate for him to feel like that. I’ve often thought of JM as a typical wealthy boy just drifting along on the funds of the bank of mum and dad, but I realise that actually I didn’t know anything about him, and so this is quite a sad thing to read. Hopefully by speaking out he will help others to see that it’s ok not to be ok.

(((Hug))) for Mikado and everyone else struggling with depression Flowers

Right, I jest you not. I was in London today and there were two people, two, who were in my tube carriage both wearing big KM velvet hair bands

It’s becoming a Thing.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/01/2019 22:48

Are you sure it wasn't those knitted headbands that people wear in winter to keep their ears warm? Always prefer a hat myself...

VamillaSugar · 12/01/2019 22:56

Nope 🤣😄🤣🤣. Definitely pimped up Alice Bands Grin

Clankboing · 12/01/2019 22:59

I have always thought that James Middleton looks like one of the three emperors who were cousins with his lustrous beard. I think he is very handsome.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/01/2019 23:06

Yes, as I said upthread he has a look of George V/Nicholas II about him.

Morning all! Bit old news now but I've finally had a royal dream Grin.

I was in a large cafe/ shop which also had a section which was my kitchen. I had an oven, lots of drawers, a fridge and a dishwasher. It seems I had left my husband and I had my eldest I think with me but he was the size of a buggy using child but larger. In rl he's nearly 18. I was cooking roast potatoes, too much bacon, bread rolls and some other bits.

I was looking for my lost diary and getting in a state and I happened to look over to the other side and saw Sophie, the Queen, Camilla and Princess Anne all sitting together. All were in bright (Royal?) blue except Sophie who was wearing mint green. Straight away I thought I'll have to post on mumsnet Grin. I went outside and saw Peter Phillips, the Earl of Mountbatten relative who is marrying a mermaid and two boys. One was Sophie's son James.

I went back in to have the Princess Royal ask me if there was any local honey she could have after hearing about it. Apparently two local girls (who are next road neighbours in real life and still at school) made it. I climbed on a chair with Anne saying shoes off Grin and managed to find her a jar. It had a price ticket of 50p but she didn't pay. She walked away and turned and then I realised I had to curtsey. I waffled some nonsense about why I'd just nearly fallen on to her then did a damn fine curtsey.

There were other bits but I think that's long enough. Some of it I can explain why I probably dreamt about them/it but others, not a clue!

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/01/2019 07:49

I climbed on a chair with Anne saying shoes off

That totally sounds like something she'd say!

Thank you all for your kindness Flowers There are definite reasons so some things are just life but I am going to book in with GP tomorrow. I think cbt would be good.

princessbear80 · 13/01/2019 08:23

mikado hope things get better soon and seeing the gp helps with that Flowers

vanilla wow I can’t believe real people are wearing the Alice bands! Where they together? What were the rest of their outfits like?

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 13/01/2019 08:47

Flowers Mikado

My (very articulate) dc often feels like James Middleton when doing exams. It’s heartbreaking as a parent to see & soul destroying for them. We are looking at alternatives to HE for them as why put them through that pain. Good for him speaking about it (even though I think he was forced into it).

VamillaSugar · 13/01/2019 08:55

Slightly off topic, but this is why apprenticeships are good ipromiseiwontbenaughty

VamillaSugar · 13/01/2019 08:58

The two ladies were not together. One was young, stylish in jeans, a houndstooth long coat and a blue band. She was with her boyfriend, about 25. The other lady was late 40s/50s with a mustard yellow hairband full of bows. I can’t remember what she was wearing as her hairband took over Grin

queenofarles · 13/01/2019 08:59

mikado Flowers {hugs}

vanilla were they normal bands or Kate's exaggerated padded ones?

I wear hairbands all the time, Sometimes, between hair washes my fringe kills me and my side part gets weighed down . hairbands are great for sweeping everything back and done with. I wear these I've never tried anything bigger than 20mm maybe I should take it to the next level,

Namechange4572 · 13/01/2019 09:12

Hello, I met the very lovely Viscountess yesterday. She was wearing yoga kit and a jumper from Zara. She is absolutely tiny (ie not a millimetre of fat on her and her figure, I reckon, is identical to KM.

I know for a fact that if I tried to take her on, she would literally floor me as she is so strong - all that yoga! So now my view of KM has changed completely. I reckon Kate only eats nutritious food and does a lot of yoga and HIT training. A true role model for us Pringle eaters Blush

Julie was absolutely lovely. The workshop included yoga and mindfulness. mikado - look up her “whole self” Instagram page and look up her website. Her positive affirmations are wonderful. I don’t mean to sound all hippy, but in her talk she was saying things like 1) give yourself permission to be exactly who you are 2) when people put you down, ignore them, their attitude is not your problem 3) re the things that people criticise you for, well, that’s exactly what you should be doing - ie people asked her why she wanted to become yet another yoga teacher in a saturated market, she just carried on anyway

Basically, if Julie was a mumsnetter she would say that it’s OK to tell yourself “I am me. I like me. Anyone who doesn’t like me can FOTTFSOF.”

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 13/01/2019 09:14

Thanks Vamilla that’s what we are doing. I didn’t mean go off topic but just to show how ‘normal’ people will resonate with James’s message.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 13/01/2019 09:19

Off topic again but where the European royals spend their summers

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.vogue.com/article/where-european-royals-spend-their-summers/amp

VamillaSugar · 13/01/2019 09:29

The hair bands were higher than that QoF but not quite the full on Anne Boleyn height.

Cut off flared culottes also seem to be a thing with the young people. I can see MM wearing those but probably not Kate/Sophie!

I like Zara’s dress. I think she looks lovely. Mine Tindall is a hands-on patron of a charity round here and everyone involved adores him.

beanaseireann · 13/01/2019 09:52

IpromiseIwontbenaughty
I'd hate to spend my summer holiday in a more northerly part of the country ( like Balmoral ) I always thought it odd to go on your summer holidays to somewhere it might rain a lot bit.
Surely you'd have a sunnier summer further south.
Obviously the Queen is unlike me.

TSSDNCOP · 13/01/2019 10:21

DH sat next to Mike Tindall at a dinner. DH is, unlike us, not remotely interested in royalty Hmm but reports that MH is a really nice fella. Everyone seems to be smiling and in on the joke when he’s photographed in a group.
