Previous thread.

Usual rules - say what you like about the clothes, keep it civil re the wearers.

Re blogs, HRH Duchess Kate and Mad About Meghan are great. Charlotte, the author, is in the US (I think) but is very on the ball when it comes to the latest outing for either duchess.

I usually rely on New My Royals for continental goings-on but that's not so much a blog as the latest royal photos.

And of course Go Fug Yourself's weekly Royals Round-up is always pretty comprehensive.

Shame about ROSS as it was one of the best blogs out there for royal style, especially tiaras!

DM is an odd choice for someone like the Middletons ? thought it would be Vanity Fair. Beautifully written, wish him well .

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/01/2019 08:23

In terms of the amount of coverage the story will get, the DM is probably a good choice as it's one of the most visited sites in the world. It's very well-written and good on James for coming out about an issue that can still attract a lot of stigma.

MakeItAmazing · 12/01/2019 08:44

I could be wrong but every time someone mentions the stigma of bad or poor mental health I feel it perpetuates it and reminds people it was once seen as something to be ashamed of and therefore setting back the cause again.

We've ALL got mental health. Just some of us are lucky enough not to have had difficult times.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 12/01/2019 08:53

The Middletons don’t usually give interviews do they? First Carole & now James? Wonder if they got clearance from William?

AlsoBling2 · 12/01/2019 09:04

@queen, I am almost positive Charlotte is UK based. But agree she's brilliant.

Loved the hand holding slide show. My best one ever was during the carriage ride at w&k wedding they went under a bridge or arch and were out of sight for a few seconds. As they come back you can see them holding hands, which they then promptly stop again. It was a moment that for me said they had made a conscious decision 're public and private personas.

AlsoBling2 · 12/01/2019 09:06

Hate to say it but am in agreement with whoever said James.may have been blackmailed into it.

Does explain Kate's involvement in mental health too. I always got the sense that she was the driving force in a lot of that campaign. I think I mentioned it before but the I review the 3 of them did she was definitely directing things. If her dbro and suffered for years then she realises her dbil is same, it probably helped her thinking.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/01/2019 09:12

I can see what you're saying @MakeItAmazing but I'm from a culture where it still exists around depression, unfortunately.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 12/01/2019 09:14

@AlsoBling2 I'm not sure. Charlotte always links to American sites when showing where to buy Kate or Meghan's clothes, which led me to believe she was US-based. And there's been comments on her blog about being up in the middle of the night in order to get the latest photos on the site.

Maybe I should leave a comment inviting her to join us here!

I thought the article was quite well written. If he is dyslexic and has ADD I imagine it was transcribed from an interview, then honed down.

It does sound like it got quite bad. I notice the comments have been turned off though, no harm.

beanaseireann · 12/01/2019 09:53

I noticed there were no comments too. Is that usual ?
I thought most articles in DM allowed comments except ongoing court cases obviously.
Was he dating Donna Air through his deep depression?

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/01/2019 09:56

I can just imagine the sort of comments that would be left Confused Very wise to have them turned off.

user1457017537 · 12/01/2019 09:59

I read the comments earlier when they were up and they were all really supportive.

certainlymerry · 12/01/2019 09:59

I think it's incredibly brave of him to do speak so openly. I am wondering about the motivation behind it, but surely we should applaud his honesty? It explains why Kate has become so passionate about this cause, but is anything happening on the Heads Together front now? Since the conference it seems to have disappeared.

I think this might help a lot of people with depression .

certainlymerry · 12/01/2019 10:01

I agree it's beautifully written too.

user1457017537 · 12/01/2019 10:02

Men’s mental health and depression is massively swept under the carpet. Well done James for trying to help others who are struggling. Suicide figures for young males are horrendous.

UrsulaPandress · 12/01/2019 10:03

Unusually well written fir the Mail.

AnimalMystery · 12/01/2019 10:11

Good for him, and I’m glad to hear he’s feeling better. I would imagine that his family did suspect there was something wrong and must have been worried sick when he disappeared.

Pupsiecola · 12/01/2019 10:16

Very good article. But what also struck me is how the Middletons are just a family at the end of the day with some of the worries and concerns and issues as the rest of us. So whilst Kate is pg or struggling with HG or at an event or planning a Christening or whatever she's also worrying about her brother who went through a period of isolation and perhaps even temporary estrangement whilst clearly being in need of help. It must have been a very difficult time for all of them, given how close they are. You really do never know what's going on behind closed doors.

MakeItAmazing · 12/01/2019 10:34

Queen but why perpetuate it? Your culture can be changed.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 12/01/2019 10:50

Oh ffs now it's mental health that people aren't doing right. Can we please stop sniping at posters on here?

The overwhelming majority of posters on this thread are lovely people who are having a bit of a gossip and chat about people in the public eye and their clothes. They're not trying to offend anyone, and if their posts are going to start getting deconstructed then the whole thread will become utterly tedious.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/01/2019 10:51

I didn't think I was, but I do see your point and it's a fair one.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 12/01/2019 10:53

That was in response to @MakeItAmazing. I wish James well and I'm glad he's spoken out.

But now let's get back to the clothes shall we?

DontCallMeCharlotte · 12/01/2019 11:06

The authors of both From Berkshire to Buckingham and the Royal Order of Sartorial Splendour blog have hung up their blogging hats recently. Hopefully for the ROSS it is just a temporary thing. It's a shame though, I need more royal blog recommendations!

Oh no re OOS! I love her writing style and have learned loads about the Euro-Royals and she "introduced" me to Max Sad

Although I feel guilty as I haven't been on there much lately. Can't think why Wink

MakeItAmazing · 12/01/2019 12:31

ItsNice... if the sniping comment was aimed at me I was 100% NOT sniping at Queen. However MH needs talking about and comments that could make sufferers feel shit need challenging.

Queen, you're very gracious.
