Previous thread.

Usual rules - say what you like about the clothes, keep it civil re the wearers.

@beanaseireann I'd spent every holiday in Scotland if I could. That part of Scotland is unimaginably beautiful. Heat is overrated.

Each to their own likablum
I probably like the bit of heat in the summer as I live in Ireland. Smile
I love visiting scenic areas in Ireland but would not choose to holiday there for more than a week as the weather is so changeable, though I could be tempted by south west Ireland, south Kerry in particular.

SenecaFalls · 13/01/2019 14:48

Hugs and Flowers to mikado

We love Scotland and when we go, it is usually in October and so can be a bit nippy, which we enjoy. But easy for me to say as I sit on my back porch drinking coffee in 72 F weather this balmy January day.

Deeside is sublime. The Queen has good taste.

katekat383 · 13/01/2019 15:42

Kerry is particularly wet and wild - or it was when we were there but very beautiful too. Beauty beats heat.

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/01/2019 15:43

@beanaseireann I suspect HM loves Balmoral not for the weather but because it's the only place she can truly get away from it all and relax.

There's a small glimpse of Lady Helen's natty shoes here. Wish we could see them closer up. Love her hat too.
Also HM. Looking HM.

I like Lady Helen's cape, she looks very like her mother isn't she?

And I still automatically think of Lord Snowden as Viscount Linley, even though he's been Earl for over a year (or is it two?) now!

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 13/01/2019 17:45

doesn't, not isn't!

OP posts:
Paradyning · 13/01/2019 18:13

She really does.
Why is PM's son only Earl Snowdon and his dad was Lord Snowdon. Does anyone know?

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/01/2019 18:20

I think that's just the DM's mistake. He's Lord Snowden and the Earl OF Snowden, not Earl Snowden. Incidentally what is the difference between being the Earl of Somewhere as opposed to Earl Surname, like Earl Spencer?

On another royal note, I saw The Favourite yesterday and can thoroughly recommend it. All three leads are excellent and it's great to see a film with not one, not two, but three great parts for women. Queen Anne's life was so tragic, I don't know how the poor woman went on after losing 17 children.

I'm seeing it on Tues queen, thoroughly excited. Eighteenth century is my historical period of choice, so that + royals = heaven.

Clionba · 13/01/2019 18:34

Lady Helen in stylish flat shoes! Hurrah! No need to balance on spindly vertiginous heels in order to look smart and stylish.
Lord Snowdon - I thought that was Prince Charles at first!

Clionba · 13/01/2019 18:39

Did anyone else see the Lucy Worsley programme where they recreated the wedding of Victoria and Albert? It was fascinating. I didn't realise she was given away by the Duke of Sussex, who had no legitimate children, so was the last Duke before it was revived for Meghan and Harry. Victoria walked up the aisle with her attendants, but with no man. Like Meghan!

BartonHollow · 13/01/2019 19:18

The Favourite is amazing isn't it Queen and a lot of people seem to think the ending confusing or odd and I thought it was perfect

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/01/2019 19:39

Yes, I thought so too. Emma Stone's accent was very convincing, or so it sounded to me, and Olivia Coleman and Rachel Weisz were brilliant too. I saw Rachel play Blanche Dubois about 10 years ago, and in the flesh she is even more beautiful than she appears onscreen.

Very much appreciate Lady H's natty Cape & velvet embroidered loafers combo.

VamillaSugar · 13/01/2019 19:52

Is The Favourite suitable for an 11 year old? We read the reviews and thought maybe not.

Clionba · 13/01/2019 19:55

No one saw V's wedding, then? Ok, I'd recommend it, still on iplayer.

BartonHollow · 13/01/2019 19:56

@VamillaSugar

Huge and frequent uses of the C Word
Frank sexual discussion
Scenes involving fingering

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/01/2019 19:57

Definitely not @VamillaSugar!

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 13/01/2019 19:58

I didn't @Clionba but will look it up on iPlayer. I like Lucy Worsley, her series on the Romanovs was really good too.

Paradyning · 13/01/2019 19:58

I saw it Clionba. It was good.
Thanks For the explanation Queen

beanaseireann · 13/01/2019 20:01

I enjoyed The Favourite too. I'd recommend it.
Continuing on our royal theme I'm looking forward to seeing Mary Queen of Scots.
