I love it when we find a new thread title so early on Grin

Lays on floor feeling faint.

MrsL has not smelt Salome Confused

CatherineMaitland · 18/01/2019 19:44

If you PM me your address, Mrs8, I'll send it next week.

Never thought powdered corpse would be so popular.

I really enjoyed trying out the five Papillon samples and can already see I am likely to be trying lots of other things as well!

auberginesrus · 18/01/2019 19:50

I lurve Dryad, would save up for a bottle but DH says it made me smell like an old lady - am now also keen to try Salome as it seems powdered corpse is that one step further Grin

Been away with work for a 2 day conference - have done Chloe Nomade in the daytime and Shay and Blue Black Tulip in the evening, my two current favourites.

CountFosco · 18/01/2019 20:21

Do you think we should club together and buy her a Papillon sample set? Because the only possible explanation is that there is a tear in the space time continuum and I'm concerned the Universe will implode if we don't correct this asap.

Salome is very sophisticated, but my prevailing memory is that I wore it to the hairdresser just as it kicked in, and all I could think was, will she think I've wet my knickers? (We're still chums, I give her scent samples, and she didn't mention the urine note.)

Have had a blast today with scent. I put on Infusions d'Iris for meetings as it's safe and not intrusive, then came home and sorted through the cupboards and drawers, and ended up with La Myrrh on one wrist, Miss Dior on the back of the other hand, and something that I can't catch now on the other wrist.

Life is too short for one scent. There's so much talent out there, and it would be wrong to ignore it.

Powdered corpse is a great thread title. Heaven knows what other MN users think we do here.

XingMing · 18/01/2019 20:25

Salome is a dirtier more modern Jicky IMO.

My package for Catherine already includes a few 4160s and lots of ELdO, as well as some oudhs and a few classics and pretties. I even found my Lonesome Rider sample, which I've been looking for for months, but sorry not sharing that; it's a leather classic.

That sounds super-exciting!

I was actually just looking at 4160s too.

Lotsofpots · 18/01/2019 21:41

I'm really tired and am struggling to follow the thread for some reason but can confirm that xing the LL tonka is genuinely amazing. I am still thinking about it days later.

Also someone said how great babylon sunset is (seriously, so fucking tired, sorry) and all I can say is yes yes yes. Love it.

And six months ago I had a baby, stank of stale milk and sweat in the heatwave, and wanted a new perfume to make me smell decent. I had in mind to find one perfume. I now have about 83 samples and a loooong list on my phone of perfumes I'd never heard of to try. Promiscuity rules.

CountFosco · 18/01/2019 21:46

Do try out the chypre set from perfume society

Trying not to spend money!!! New term means new term fees for violin and swimming. And we've bought tickets for Deershed and some theatre trips. Not to mention Brexit stockpiling, hmm maybe perfume purchases can come under that.

MrsL very kindly gave me a sample of vintage Lanvin Scandal a while ago ❤️. I have been able to eke it out because it is so strong, you really only need the tiniest little bit. It had aldehydic and citrus top notes originally but I think these have disappeared with age. To start with it’s quite knickery, but fairly quickly goes into a rich expensive leather with florals. Just glorious!

Today I have been wearing Inevitable Crimes of Passion from 4160Tuesdays. This is my favourite of the 4160s, all dark chocolate orange and woods with a rich distinctive note which I think must be the mushroom. I get wafts of it for hours.

Perfume absolutely comes under stockpiling!! the overlap is scary.

MrsLucas · 19/01/2019 00:27

Grin Grin Grin

Yeah, I don't know why/how I haven't either. Blush Just need to sell a pushchair I've got on eBay and that sample set will be mine!

Mrsr8, By the Fireplace is definitely on the list for a PP order. The only other definite buy from there is Gucci Envy, which seems to have lots of positive reviews. But I have about a dozen possibles on the list. Yes, the Scandal was definitely knickery to start with 😱. I’m becoming fonder of skanky notes, though. I need to test Salome - I have a day in London next week, so will look for it then.

Opium today - a heavy hitter for a bitterly cold day here.

FloofyIdentifiesAsInnocentDave · 19/01/2019 09:47

Powdered corpse! I love it. Finally a perfume to match my appearance! Grin My skin actually is an interesting mixture of blue and white this time of year Wink

Imagine being a knickery powdered corpse Grin

Like lots I am knackered and can barely keep up (sadly I don't have the legitimate reason of a little baby!) and have absolutely nothing to add other than laughing at our new thread title the above. SOTWeek has been the PP dupe of In Love Again, I have no inspiration and it's very cheering.

Still have some PP By the Fireplace going begging if anyone would like?

I have 8 million hospital appointments and a very minor op in the next few weeks so was looking for inspiration, I'm thinking Secretions Magnifique to signal my disapproval of this state of affairs. But it seems a little unfair on the HCPs Blush I shall go for the PP dupe of Ultraviolet as this can't be offensive.

YY to stockpiling for Brexit!

MrsLucas · 19/01/2019 11:45

Just checking you've all noticed that this week's 4160 offer is Goddess of Love and Perfume. If I was to try and be objective about it, I'd say this might be Sarah Mc's finest achievement - combining her brilliance with fruit notes and appreciation of vintage chypres. Seriously good in a radiant but understated way . If you like moss you do need to try this. It's expensive because it is parfum strength.
