Can't believe I've only just found this thread!!
What 4160 sets would you ladies say was the best to try out?? I have on my dresser, Chanel Beige, Benderlerious, My Burberry, Chanel Gabrielle, YSL Yvresse and I love etat libre d'orange for their quirkiness
Any suggestions from the 4160 range???

cloud1183 · 13/01/2019 10:04

Lotsofpots I tried the santal 33 dupe and had to throw it away. It made me feel really sick as all I could smell for an hour was pickles and then it just turned leathery. I read on fragrantica that others smell this too with the real version. Just not for me.

I’ve ordered bergamot 22 though so just waiting for that to arrive

UnnecessaryFennel · 13/01/2019 10:10

Welcome Philosykoss (great name, great scent!)

I am wearing Eau My Soul this morning, which is a 4160 classic imo. I always describe it as like champagne and cashmere Smile. But I also adore:
White Queen (creamy, incensey, vaguely gourmand),
Creamy Vanilla Crumble (divine grown-up vanilla custard with a hint of hay and tobacco),
Rome 1963 (tobacco and tuberose),
Ealing Green (sharp, grassy sherbet),
Freeway (petrol, sunshine and flowers),
Another Kiss By the Fireside (lavender, cinnamon biscuits and woodsmoke),
The Dark Heart of Old Havana (rum, cigarettes, rotten fruit, yes honestly Grin),
Dirty Honey (honey, hot pavements).

So, enjoy!

UnnecessaryFennel · 13/01/2019 10:12

Oh, and Rhubarb and Citrus / Rhubarb and Custard which both do exactly as they say on the tin and are both bloody fabulous.

Philosykoss · 13/01/2019 10:30

Oh thank you! The only scent note I hate with a passion is burnt sugar as in Alien. Makes me want to barf. Are the sweet ones burnt sugar or just sweet?
I've gone for
Ealing
London1969
Eat flowers
Dirty honey
Freeway

perusing

sorry my typing is terrible

MulticolourMophead · 13/01/2019 13:15

MrsLucas Thanks for the suggestions. I'll take a look.

Actually, I've just remembered something. I've been to Sidmouth in the last couple of years, and there was a little perfume shop, which was basically selling the high end stuff, like £100 plus. Not sure even Chanel would have made the cut there. I tried smelling a couple and they were heavenly. Can't remember what they were called though.

auberginesrus · 13/01/2019 13:29

London 1969 is gorgeous imo - one of my favourites. Freeway also fab. I've gone off Ealing Green, but love Rome 1963 - reminds me of smoking sneaky cigarettes as a teen and trying to cover it up with perfume, but classier Grin

auberginesrus · 13/01/2019 13:37

I also recommend What I Did on my Holidays, it's very unusual, supposed to smell like a day out at the British seaside and I think it does - sea spray, sea weed, candyfloss, mint rock and vanilla ice cream. Lasts ages. Can't wait for the better weather to start wearing it again.

Hi Philosykoss! I'm a perfume blogger and I reckon that if you like Yvresse (great choice BTW) then you might like 4160 Tuesdays Goddess of Love and Perfume. It's kind of a peachy chypre and it's just heavenly. Another peachy one is Doe in the Snow which is lemon, lime and peach chypre, "stirred with an icicle"!

Let me know if you have any questions about the brand as I know it pretty well. I can see my perfumed colleagues above do too! Hello everyone!

Pots - also have the PP homage to Santal 33. On my skin it has a bracingly leathery opening, but within 15 mins that's starting to recede a bit and a very attractive green sandalwood begins to emerge. The leather eventually clears off leaving a lovely sandalwood/chalky fig/papery accord. At this point there is a limited similarity with Zoologist Elephant, although the latter has floral notes in the heart and 33 would probably be considered more masculine? Perhaps one for you Kalifornia?.

Mop - you'll have to try and remember! And post a link to the Sidmouth shop!

MrsLucas · 13/01/2019 21:08

Apologies Kalifornia - I just reread that Blush Shock. I meant the leather and fig rather than anything else!

SOTD Black Opium. Cosy.

Bluesheep8 · 14/01/2019 06:06

mrs8 thanks for the suggestion. The tester of knowing was empty so unable to sniff that. I LOVED cinnabar, sprayed it copiously as I wanted to check it's longevity. Unfortunately, after an hour or so it had done a disappearing act. It's the same with ALL perfume on me for some reason. They will last on clothing but not on my skin.

MissBattleaxe · 14/01/2019 12:27

@Mrs8 hello! Yes Paris 1948 is a chypre ( and a divine one!) but I was just naming the peachy things.

I have just tried4160 Tuesdays Take Me to The River and Wash me In the Water. They're both fab. It's like a before and after!

Sidmouth perfume shop

This is one perfume I recall. I tried it and it was gorgeous. Lasted well on the skin, too. I'd thought it was called Empress, but I remember the description and realised it was about an empress.

cloud1183 · 14/01/2019 17:04

Picked up a 100mls bottle of D&G L’imperatrice for £29 today. Lovely fresh scent, can’t wait to wear it this summer
