I am a child of the late seventies so I am always interested to see footage of Charles and Anne as children. In the Crown, DoE described the children as being the wrong way round as Anne was so much more robust than Charles.

I'll get sent to the Tower for this but I think Anne would be great as Queen.

Diana was quite buxom before marriage. She lost loads of weight in the lead up , reportedly because Charles made. A remark about her being podgy.
She then developed bulimia. Her sister Sarah suffered from anorexia when she was young.
She looks painfully thin in the early years of her marriage.

Princes Andrew & Edward look quite handsome in that Christmas card. (So pleased this is an anonymous forum).

That was Peter photobombing ! (Zara was born in 1980 or 81). I’ve seen that photo before an never noticed him!
Andrew used to be very handsome back in the day. According to popular opinion, not my cup of tea.
Diana was bulimic before she met Charles. The American lady she used to nanny for said Diana had eaten all the meat out of a stew for dinner once. She got reprimanded then slipped the famous Couuts paying in slip ( with her title on) down the side of the sofa, to show who she was.

Yes, Zara was born in 1981. I had to look that up because I thought she couldn’t possibly be over 40! It looks like a polo outfit doesn’t it. I’d love to see that skirt on one of the Duchesses

Andrew was definitely the best looking of the Windsor boys. He's also only 19 in that photo but looks about 32!

I’ve read the Penny Junor Camilla biography mentioned by a PP - I enjoyed it but found it a bit over-long with all that ‘pillars of interest’ guff towards the end.

The other day I went to Windsor Castle where they had the Sussex wedding outfit exhibition, lovely to see them close up. I am generally in the "bit boring" camp for the dress but it is clearly beautiful in its simplicity close up. The veil was gorgeous of course, and it was fascinating to see that kind of craftsmanship up close. The tiara looked amazing under the spotlights! Very enjoyable if you like royalty (not me so much) and/or sparkly, expensive things (definitely me).

The guide said there is a chance Eugenie's dress might go on display next year, I'd love to see it, I thought it was gorgeous. He also mentioned another royal wedding coming up in May, Lady Gabriella Windsor. They've been busy bees at the castle.

I did an evening guided tour, definitely recommend it, we were allowed behind the ropes, and it was very relaxed and you could take your time to look at things. I went to Buckingham Palace for the Queen's fashion thing ,Kensington Palace for the Diana one this year and the Grace Kelly one at the V&A a while back on standard tickets and the crowds were horrific!

You are right Ahoy she was no Pamela Anderson but she was more voluptuous pre marriage and then she became extremely slim and sort of lost that look, that dress caused quite a stir at the time!

What happened to Andrew. He looks so different now. Almost unrecognisable. His face shape has changed so much. He really was handsome in that picture and looks so like the DofE.

I have to say it’s been very strange looking at photos of HMQ as a child and young woman. She’s always been an old lady to me . I really put it down to the hair style! She was only in her late 50’s when I was born. My own GM would’ve 99 if she was still alive and she always had the same hair style too
