Made sure my autocorrect didn't spoil that title...

As always, let's keep it light and avoid any spite!

Spanish Christmas card. The girls have signed their names ( and titles)
I thought the girls were identical apart from eye colour; but from this angle; you can see how different they are facially.

Clionba · 14/12/2018 20:03

It drives me mad that no one irons down the collars on the Cambridges children's clothes. They ALL stick up like that.
Louis is a puddun and I could eat him up Smile

Another avid thread lurker here , but the threads move so fast it's impossible to keep up. Also am usually breastfeeding whilst reading the thread so any posts are riddled with typos.
Mid 30s, British Londoner living in th country of the Hannoverians/Battenbergs (which is where Mountbatten is translated from). Strong historical interest and view the Royal family in a historical context, in a positive light. Fan of the current generation, especially Kate, Harry and Megan.
I dont believe any of the nonsense Kate-Megan strife - both are far too sensible and know that there is too much at stake. My pet theory is that Megan is intensely bullied by her Palace neighbour Princess M. Of Kent, which is why it would be unberable to live there with Baby sussex.
Adore Meghan but not such a fan of her fashion style. It will settle though. Adore Kate’s style except for the old lady looks she sometimes ends up with. Do not envy the archaic appearances outside the hospital and agree with the Keira Knightley snippet on the pressure to be beautiful and perfect, which hopefully megan can withstand, which she will if Harry is strong and loyal enough to her.

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/12/2018 20:05

Leonor and Sofia could be mistaken for twins due to their hair colour and heights (I think Sofia is already taller) but Leonor is very like Letizia and Sofia favours Felipe's sisters.

I think the Bourbon girls are only about 18 months apart. They do look quite different, now. I don't know which is which, but one of them looks like Queen Sofía.

Harebellmeadow · 14/12/2018 20:10

Would like to see more Rania and Letezia pictures. Was once at an evening event/ball where Felipe and Letezia were the guests of honour. I must say she was absolutely breathtakingly stunning, and was wearing black peeptoe wedges without tights, just as I was, and I had spent so much time wondering whether it was so to do so. The answer is yes: peeptoes without tights have the Royal seal of approval. (Not a tights fan because i think of myself as a Vogue-type chic lady, but pressurised to wear them by old fashioned on-laws)

Bloominglovely · 14/12/2018 20:12

My kids wear collars like that. I iron them but they never sit properly.

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/12/2018 20:15

@Clionba That's Sofia, the younger but taller sister.

@Harebellmeadow I think the stories about sandals and tights are all made up by the press. I've seen both Kate and Meghan go bare-legged or wear sandals several times!

Clionba · 14/12/2018 20:19

Thanks, Queen. Yes, the tights thing and the sandals ban are myths. Same with nail varnish.

frugalkitty · 14/12/2018 20:22

I was quite surprised that Felipe and Leti only had the two girls, I'm sure when they got engaged they said they wanted four kids.

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/12/2018 20:23

But when it comes to children, what we want isn't always what we get @frugalkitty...

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/12/2018 20:24

Felipe is looking more like his mother as he ages. Now there's a queen who's the very definition of a long-suffering wife!

I am in my seventies and have followed the royals for most of my life.

A couple of royal encounters. Princess Michael gave us the finger when her husband was hogging the outside lane at 4 0 mps. He wouldn't shift over so we eventually undertook. That's when we got the finger.

More recently meghan was shopping in Aldi! in Chipping Norton.

Met a few royal protection officers when William and Harry were teenagers. They all liked Harry but said William could be arrogant.

Oh yes Princess Anne in a restaurant at lunch when she was giving the waitress discount coupons cut out of the newspaper to reduce the price of the meal.

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/12/2018 20:34

@Buddywoo I've heard that story about princess Anne and the coupons!

Not a fan of H and M's card. Shots of people's backs are annoying. Also it reminded me of the photo on the invitation to Meghan's first wedding, which is unfortunate.
The Cambridges in the tree is a lovely photo.

Harebellmeadow · 14/12/2018 20:36

Meghan at aldi! Thats a surpise buddywoo Do they have enough organic wholefoods for sale there?

Harebellmeadow · 14/12/2018 20:37

Sorry, buddywoo

GrumbleBumble · 14/12/2018 21:09

I was quite surprised that Felipe and Leti only had the two girls, I'm sure when they got engaged they said they wanted four kids.

I've known lots of people change their mind about how many children they want both increase and decrease in number. They may have been warned off having more than than two as so many people have to have fewer children than they would like due to financial constraints (there were plenty of muttering of that type when W&K announced they were having a third). There may be medical reasons why having more is not recommended or they may have been unable to conceive again.

Haworthia · 14/12/2018 21:19

How did she imagine those photos in the booth with her clutching her bump were going to look? Completely inappropriate.

See, I’m struggling to see what was so inappropriate. Admittedly, it’s not something you would see a stuffier, more seasoned Royal doing, but that was literally the only thing “wrong” with it. She looked great and the “boomerang” style shot added a really glamorous, modern edge, IMO. It was harmless.

If we’re all agreed that the RF need to modernise, then removing the stick from their posteriors would be a start.

Can’t you image Diana posing for a shot like that? Or Princess Margaret, in her heyday?

SenecaFalls · 14/12/2018 21:23

I love the Spanish naming conventions. Leonor and Sofia are both de Borbon y Ortiz.

George Windsor-Middleton has a nice ring.

SenecaFalls · 14/12/2018 21:26

Princess Margaret did pose for a photograph by Lord Snowdon in her bath. She was, however, wearing the Poltimore tiara, which did elevate it somewhat.Smile

user1457017537 · 14/12/2018 21:33

I liked the boomerang photo booth shot!

Paradyning · 14/12/2018 21:56

I LOVE that shot of Mags in the bath with the poltimore tiara on!

Bloominglovely · 14/12/2018 22:32

I have to say William has always given me the impression of being arrogant and entitled. His interactions and quips to photographers and interviewers are arrogant rather than funny, and I got the impression that prior to having children with her, he didn’t see Kate as his equal. Again mainly from his remarks that were supposed to be ‘funny’. Reading how she cooked his dinner and ran his bath after a day in the air ambulance didn’t sound romantic to me either, just more pandering and pampering. He comes across as spoilt.

WindyWednesday · 14/12/2018 22:34

Love the tiara!
