Made sure my autocorrect didn't spoil that title...

As always, let's keep it light and avoid any spite!

I think Philip looks fine. It's just that we are not used to seeing people who are nearly 100.

I agree. (I posted this so I could find this wonderful thread again and share parkinpig's post about Prince Louis with the kids tonight).

I think MM is finding it hard to get into a groove with her dresses but her shoes are magnificent.

SantyClaws · 19/12/2018 16:06

I wonder what Kate and Meghan call the Queen to her face. I mean once the initial 'Good morning, Your Majesty' is done and dusted. Do they call her Ma'am?

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 19/12/2018 16:29

Or Granny?

LaurenDisorderAtChristmas · 19/12/2018 16:36

Didn't William & Harry call her 'Gary' when they were small, as they couldn't quite get the hang of saying Granny?

WindyWednesday · 19/12/2018 16:39

I imagine they call her Elizabeth.

beanaseireann · 19/12/2018 16:41

Pupsiecola '... there's something Gillian Anderson about Sophie'
A relation ( by marriage) of mine looks like GA also and Sophie's Mum was Irish so who knows...
Tenuous I know so I won't expect you to curtsy to me.

BlingLoving · 19/12/2018 16:50

Did anyone think Harry Windsor (Henry? Freddy? Whatever) - he and his wife looked like vampires! Made me laugh. There's a child in the back with them and a woman I assume is their nanny so maybe they're exhausted (broke my no Daily Mail rule to look at pictures. Did not read the article or any comments....).

SantyClaws · 19/12/2018 16:50

I hope they do call her Elizabeth and it's not too formal.

Mind you, the upper classes all have daft nicknames if you believe Julian Fellowes so maybe they all call her Tigger or Sausage Grin

Paradyning · 19/12/2018 16:56

So apparently Megs is wearing this today

God, I really can't imagine that her granddaughters-in-law would call her Elizabeth Confused Aside from any royal factor, for people of that generation being called by their first names would be quite unusual. I'd imagine they use Granny or quite possibly Ma'am, but I wouldn't see that as reflective of an over-formality in general.

PawneeParksDept · 19/12/2018 17:07

There's NO WAY

Sophie
Kate
Camilla
Meghan

Have EVER called her Elizabeth 😱

Yes, Freddie has always had something of the night about him!

Apparently Diana used to call her Mama (according to one article I read anyway). Took her a while to be allowed to, however. So maybe eventually that's what other Royal spouses get to use?

Spudlet · 19/12/2018 17:14

What witchcraft would allow Megan to fit that bump into a dress she was wearing two years ago?! I mean I know expensive dresses have more seam allowance for alterations, but really?!?!

(Not doubting you, Paradying, just boggling at the concept)

itswinetime · 19/12/2018 17:16

Here is a video link to Meghan wearing the dress tgeybthink she wore today. Can't see it all that well but doesn't look like a lot of room for a bump to me.

Meghan the today show

SenecaFalls · 19/12/2018 17:30

I don't think anyone has ever called the Queen "Elizabeth." Close family and friends have always called her Lilibet. I remember years ago reading that Philip often calls her "Lil." Don't know if that's true.

I have also read that her longtime nursery maid and then dresser BoBo McDonald was allowed to continue to call her Lilibet into adulthood and even after she became Queen.

MerdedeBrexit · 19/12/2018 17:32

Hello, {royal wave} I've been lurking on these threads for a bit - I'm another "more of a Republican", but love the show "Suits" and have developed a bit of an interest in the Royal Family since Harry and Meghan got together. I am in my sixties, and the first royal event I remember was Prince Charles's Investiture as the Prince of Wales. I think that was probably before we got a day off school for Princess Anne's wedding. I remember where I was when Lady Di and Charles married, and when Princess Diana died (different countries!). I have waved at the Queen in the Strand once, in the Seventies, I think. All I remember was she held up the traffic when I was hurrying somewhere in my lunch break and she was wearing a particularly lurid shade of green.
Anyhow, I thought I'd introduce myself before asking why on earth MM is not buying proper maternity wear rather than squeezing herself into dresses from 2016? Is she that frugal that she thinks it's not worth buying a maternity wardrobe because she doesn't intend to have any more children after this one (or two - that bump is huge!)? She must be so uncomfortable in the dresses she's worn this week - although she looked absolutely stunning at the Fashion Awards the other week-end. I wonder if that was made to measure or another one recycled from before she was pregnant?

IdaBWells · 19/12/2018 17:37

I love Meghan’s dress but I do wonder about her still wearing non-maternity clothes this far into her pregnancy when she has a substantial bump, while boobs and thighs are generally filling out. It would just seem to be so much more comfortable and flattering to be in clothes cut for pregnancy. She is so fashion savvy it’s surprising.

However we all have that steep learning curve with our first pregnancy as it’s hard to get your head around that this is REALLY happening, you are really growing a person under your jumper! Being slow to adjust to reality is totally normal in my experience!

WipsGlitter · 19/12/2018 17:43

Zara's dress is lovely and Kate looks super too.

YearOfYouRemember · 19/12/2018 17:44

desertgirl - apologies if someone has answered you but I've not read to the end yet. I have read that Meghan wears her shoes a little big to avoid blisters. My thinking is that her toes will hurt as she uses them to keep the shoes on Confused

In other news, DS came home today, six nights in hospital. We're all shattered.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/12/2018 17:45

I am not sure how twitter decided that this shiny peachy orange dress; worn years ago by Kate & Madonna is the same thing she is wearing today. It looks like a Matt, pink crepe something.
