Made sure my autocorrect didn't spoil that title...

As always, let's keep it light and avoid any spite!

I had a very vivid dream. My friend wanted to plant roses in her garden. We went to see the crown jewels. They let my friend borrow one of HMQ's crowns to bring home and colour match as it was the perfect deep red for her garden. We left with it in a little gift bag having "signed it out" ShockGrin.

These threads do seem to have an odd effect on dreams - I had a very odd dream about being at a party with the Swedish royal family a couple of nights ago. I don’t actually know anything about the Swedish royals other than having seen bits on here 😀.

And if anyone does figure out MM’s keeping-shoes-on trick I would love to know (having narrow heels, it is a definite issue!)

@CurlyWurlyTwirly the U.K. high street is DIRE for maternity clothes!

orderofsplendor.blogspot.com/2011/10/wedding-wednesday-infanta-cristinas.html?m=1 Speaking of Cristina, I remember loving her wedding dress as a girl, when she was the Infanta Cristina
Looks familiar!

Spudlet · 19/12/2018 09:07

desertgirl Back when I wore heels for work, I had a couple of pairs that were a bit on the roomy side (both bought at the end of long days when my feet had obviously swollen). I found bunging a pair of half-insoles or better yet, those party feet gel inserts, helped them stay put. If I couldn't get those I used folded up loo roll or tissue (I strongly suspect MM is not walking around with shoes full of Andrex, mind you Grin)

ElspethFlashman · 19/12/2018 09:21

He has been very quiet on homelessness in recent years

Honestly that's fine by me. I can't square the circle with representing homelessness and living for free in Anmer Hall and Kensington Palace tbh.

wipsGlitter yes she said the wedding dress didn't fit her nicely , which i totally agree with her on that, Emilia dresses are to die for , i speak from my own experience with her clothes.

Another label that I love is Peter pilotto. Exquisite detailing and cut.

Loads of talented British designers out there she really should reach out to one.

I read that DoC doesn't accept freebies, its her personal preference. I don't know about MM . The dress is up on the Brock Insta, they are thrilled Xmas Grin

A couple of interesting articles about Meghan - will H&M pay a US visit next year? Also a piece on how brands are making it known when she wears their pieces.

@Spudlet indeed! We'd have been dragged off to the Tower weeks ago! The king of Thailand is a um, eccentric character. (Sun link alert)

I thought William just visited a homeless charity this week?

Spudlet · 19/12/2018 10:05

Goodness, he is quite the character, going off that. I know the British Royals are a bit staid st times but here's something to be said for that!

ElspethFlashman · 19/12/2018 10:08

That Insta account @eholmes, the one that does So Many Thoughts about royal fashion, she's a journo and is very very very interesting about the business of royal fashion and how brands are positioned and how those brands then try to exploit it thereafter (calling a garment "the Kate" or "the royal" etc). She notes when brands have used actual press images on their websites and been forced asked to take it down. Some designers sail pretty close to the wind with actually using a royal face as a model, which is of course not allowed. Some of the American/Canadian designers have gotten a bit overexcited at the exposure and have had polite requests to alter their websites accordingly.

It's OK (and expected) to put the dress front and centre on your website, but it's not OK to blatantly link it to a Royal in the description or the image, basically.

ElspethFlashman · 19/12/2018 10:09

This is just also a reminder that if you have an Insta account you should all be following @eholmes for daily analysis of outfits, basically!

Rhubarbisevil · 19/12/2018 10:13

I used to have a little children’s clothes shop and when I closed it down I sold off the remaining stock on eBay. Prince George wore the exact shorts that I had in stock so when I listed it and wrote something like “Prince George’s shorts!” EBay got very stroppy and told me to change it. PS I got a good price for them! Grin. Apols it I’ve forgotten the brand Xmas Blush

I think Meghan does need better people around her but imagine it's taking time to find the right person/people - people who can give her the insight she needs and who can also work with her. It's a very personal relationship. Kate had Rebecca from near the beginning I think, but I always got the sense that originally she was very junior. However, she obviously connected with Kate and was promoted accordingly.

Then when she left they felt they needed someone more professional but the process of hiring the new woman (catherine?) was quite lengthy and professional.

If Meghan hasn't been lucky enough to connect with any of the existing staff, it's going to take a little while to find someone who can fulfil her needs. It makes sense - someone who is used to/comfortable with her American/Actress persona but can still navigate the Royal Family/UK and who she instinctively likes and trusts. That is quite a big ask.

She needs someone who understands what she wants and needs and how she works and is actively engaged in helping her manage it, but can help her achieve that within the context of her new environment. Basically, it's about chemistry on top of fairly specific skills.

BlingLoving · 19/12/2018 11:00

Personally, if I was her, I'd be doing some headhunting around some of the various fashion/celeb magazines in this country and the US. Ideally someone who is English, with the requisite contacts, but who has spent enough time in the US/covering the US / following US celebrities and fashion to understand where Meghan is coming from.

Want2bSupermum · 19/12/2018 11:02

Queen I work in a very conservative professional workplace and found great maternity clothes on the high street. Jojo mama Bebe had fab stuff and I got some good pieces from pea in the pod, seraphine and Isabelle Oliver. My whole wardrobe for 3 pregnancies cost about $1000 and that included a coat.

I still think she should put a cat almost the pigeons and borrow maternity clothing from DofC or Zara T who wore some fabulous outfits too.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 19/12/2018 11:26

QueenOfTheAndals did you know those children are 1/4 British through their paternal grandmother?

user1457017537 · 19/12/2018 11:26

I really don’t mind the designer outfits and obviously they cost £££s. The same as the homes they live in would cost millions on the open market. I think the high street is pretty grim fashion wise at the moment and I’m sick of burgundy, Megan green and sludgy colours. It’s all a bit Amish with frills on in my opinion. I think her sense of style is one thing you can’t criticise MM for.

EmGee · 19/12/2018 11:27

I'm guessing that Meghan probably wears maternity clothes at home (jeans, tunic tops etc)? More for comfort than anything else!!!

I'm horrified at all the stories re her father and half brother. She must have very sound reasons for keeping schtum/and being NC with them all. Note that her mother is extremely discreet. There's the odd photo of her out and about in LA (or wherever she lives) but they are all taken without her knowledge and as far as I know, she has not spoke to the press? It's a really horrible situation to be in and a gazillion times worse, as it is played out in front of the whole world. I feel very sorry for her.

user1457017537 · 19/12/2018 11:36

I don’t know I don’t think the situation has been handled well at all. They are not going to go away.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/12/2018 11:42

@NewModelArmyMayhem18 Yes, I did know Abdullah's mother was British. King Hussein married 4 times but only 2 wives were Jordanian. Queen Noor is of course American, albeit of Syrian descent.

@Want2bSupermum I think I got maybe one top from JoJo but found it really boring and Seraphine was a bit too fussy. Wish I'd thought of looking Isabella Oliver on ebay though! What I meant was that you literally can't get very much maternity wear in physical high street shops these days - I bought most of mine online but had to return half of it. Which is a peril of online shopping!
