Made sure my autocorrect didn't spoil that title...

As always, let's keep it light and avoid any spite!

Look the only glaringly obvious reason she is wearing an ill fitting dress is that is a freebie

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 19/12/2018 07:19

That’s sad if that’s the case Chums - the duchess could do with a reliable friend even if she is a lousy stylist!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/12/2018 07:31

Princess Martie at Danish food bank. I know Will & Kate did a couple of events for Service families. I am quite impressed seeing the Danes and Norwegians spotlighting local charities.
When he was younger; William did a lot of work.for centrepoint. He has been very quiet on homelessness in recent years.

BlingLoving · 19/12/2018 07:32

I don't like the dress because it felt the wrong colour/style for the season and I wasn't wild about the fit. But I have no issue with her choosing to wear tight fitting pregnancy clothes. It can look very good and it would not surprise me if trousers aren't so comfortable, even good pregnancy ones, while floaty little dresses just really aren't her thing.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/12/2018 07:32

So it is the famous Christmas lunch today! @Queen are you ready for a flurry of posts and a new thread ?!

Rhubarbisevil · 19/12/2018 07:38

I genuinely think that Meghan bought the dress to match the coat. I also think she has filled out suddenly and so the fit across the back has taken her by surprise.

We’ve all got to remember that she’s absolutely tiny and we’re used to seeing her without a scrap of fat on her. The royal ladies can’t win. Kate gets pregnant and we all say “she looks so much better now that she’s filled out.” Meghan is filling out and people are up in arms about it.

Remember, folks, the girl is wearing a dress. She is not going all Demi Moore on us.

WindyWednesday · 19/12/2018 07:40

But...why would she need to wear a freebie dress? I’m sure they have enough in the pot for a maternity dress.

I don’t know how it works, but if a maternity label wanted to “promote” they could wing her a freebie as much as the next designer. It’s not as though no one knows she’s pregnant.

She can’t continue not to resort to maternity wear! Can she?? She will have to embrace the stretchy band jeans and wrap dresses at some point. Better tailoring is more flattering.

Although perhaps it is vanity. My DM said of a friend’s daughter “ oh course when x was expecting she didn’t need maternity wear, she’s so slim” I said that’s impossible, even slim women change shape.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/12/2018 07:41

@CurlyWurlyTwirly I have indeed braced myself, although we won't see more than heads in a car and maybe the Cambridge kids in the back seat. Although do children usually attend the lunch?

@WindyWednesday I got to about 25 weeks in my normal clothes and then went to maternity wear. Meghan looks like she's further along, but obviously we won't know for sure until she has the baby. "Spring" could mean anything from early March to the end of May!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/12/2018 07:47

There's usually a bit of speculation in the blogs each year about "who" the ladies are wearing based on a scrap of Fabric! I am so.looking forward to seeing Louis but maybe he will.stay home with nanny for his nap. I definitely saw Charlotte in a car last year.

WindyWednesday · 19/12/2018 07:48

Queen me too, but after that normal clothes were too uncomfortable and I needed maternity wear. She will have to get some maternity wear soon. It’s strange she hasn’t already.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/12/2018 07:49

Infanta Elena of Spain is 50 years old. She looks so much like her mother.
I found this old photo of the Spanish Royals. Queen Sofia was absolutely beautiful as a younger woman. Felipe is unrecognizable as a (little) blond boy.

Rhubarbisevil · 19/12/2018 07:55

Gosh, I think she looks older than 50. I presume she is the one standing up! She needs to take a lead out of Trinny Woodhall’s —make up range— book.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/12/2018 07:57

Yes, Elena and Felipe look very much like their mother. The other sister (Cristina?) looks quite different. Isn't Elena older than 50 though? Felipe is the youngest and I think he turned 50 earlier this year. (How do I know all this? I don't even read Hello!)

We need Queen Sofia to write her autobiography - imagine the tales she could tell about that arch-rat King JC!

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 19/12/2018 07:59

I think Elena was married to a Spanish handball player but is now divorced. Cristina is the one with the dodgy husband and is still married. Or am I mixing them up?

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 19/12/2018 08:06

Queen Sofia is beautiful.

I thought U.K. royals aren’t allowed to accept freebie clothes?

Looking forward to seeing all the headshots later!!

I had a private lunch with crown prince Alexander & princess Katherine of Yugoslavia (when it was still Yugoslavia) once obviously a very long time ago. Think it was for a fundraiser- I had a lot of wealthy clients & had gone as their representative.

I’m sad to say I have no recollection of the event apart from it was at Claridges & Constantine & Anne-Marie couldn’t come at the last minute. There were only 20-30 people there.

Oh how times have changed - now I’m no longer working & disabled - I’d never be invited to anything like that now. Sad

queenofarles · 19/12/2018 08:08

chumsnet why is that? does she talk about MM very often? i find it strange that she is a stylist, she is very Towie glam.

someone needs to introduce Emilia Wickstead to MM.

i actually thought about buying a brock dress in the past, but IRL, its not that flattering, its very edwardian romanticism . off the shoulder frills and corsets tops. the the cut is extremely uncomfortable and unforgiving,
no idea who advised MM into getting one specially made for her.

gingercat02 · 19/12/2018 08:13

Elena is 54, Christina is 53 and Felipe will be 51 in January. JC was obviously still doing his duties at home even if he was busy else where. Shame we don't see everyone today properly I'm just hanging on for Sandringham 👗👜👠👑👒

Mydogisforlife · 19/12/2018 08:18

Rhubarbisevil When people said Kate looked better with a bit of pregnancy weight on it was because her face filled out a little and looked softer and younger.
Meghan wore a dress that looked too tight over the bump and fitted really badly at the back. A well-cut maternity dress would look so much better and doesn't have to be very loose and floaty.

I love her style usually.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/12/2018 08:26

It came up in getty images. Obviously an old pic; although Elena's Birthday is the 20th December.
Cristina was / is married to the dodgy handball player Inaki Undagarin (or something) Elena is divorced from Jaime de Marichalar. (Not sure of spelling)

WipsGlitter · 19/12/2018 08:27

@queenofarles wasn't Emelia Wixkstead rude about her wedding dress?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/12/2018 08:33

Yes she said Claire Waight Keller ripped off her wedding dress design. Oops! She appears to be back in favour with Sophie and Kate. Meghan wore Emilia Wickstead to an anzac day thing when she was engaged. Proportions looked good on her.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/12/2018 08:43

I think the best Designers on Mehhan have been no1 Roland Mouret, no2 Stella McCartney, McQueen, Givenchy & Dior.
I know she wears British Designers from time to time, but she really needs to wear actual high street you know 50-100 quid clothes, possibly £200 like normal people. As I said previously, I have seen her in some M&S, a jumper & a dress. However wearing thousand pound off the peg dresses and designer clothes at £eight grand a pop is unacceptable.
She needs to go to Vogue and get a stylist. I don't know the UK high street that well any more as I don't live there. However, with Meghan's budget; maternity wear is easy. It's not all dungarees and smock dresses any more.
I guess the problem is, the Sussexes don't have consistent advisors. The temporary private secretary is leaving as planned. Meghan is definitely trying to do it her way and as I see; failing.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/12/2018 08:48

Meghan has worn high street - Club Monaco, All Saints, possibly Whistles. Kate used to wear a lot of high street but not so much anymore - that plaid Wickstead skirt was over £1000 and her evening gowns will easily be ££££.

It's a little odd that Meghan went down the tight-fitting route yesterday as before that we used to say her clothes were too big for her! Maybe it was just a blip.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 19/12/2018 08:49

Sorry not Whistles but And Other Stories.
