Made sure my autocorrect didn't spoil that title...

As always, let's keep it light and avoid any spite!

On the DM link it said she met 4 residents.

There was a singsong but it didn't look like more than the 4, the staff and the press.

It just seems a shame if the rest of them missed out. But that's just me being a nosy cow.

It looks like a fabulous place, there's a pub and a theatre! I think that film with Billy Connolly and that Billy Liar bloke and Maggie Smith and thingy from Shirley Valentine (god I'm terrible) was set in that nursing home. It was a very good film, despite my shit memory!

Spudlet · 18/12/2018 15:03

Love that red dress on Sofia, so elegant.

Megan's dress is an elegant length and has a nice print, and her shoes are lovely, as is her coat. The fit of the dress itself is right off though and the low back is a bit neither here nor there for me, and it just looks tight. Shame, it has many of the elements to be a good look, but it's just not quite there.

LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 18/12/2018 15:21

Princess Madeleine looks stunning. And how cute is little Princess Estelle. I would have given my arm & leg for a coat like that at that age.

Agree about Meghan's dress looking too tight, although, like a PP said, it may have fitted when she got it! Surely there would be something else that fitted her / a flunkey to go out & get a new dress? It looks a bit uncomfortable.

This look like the basis for Megan's dress, but hers has clearly been altered, not just for her bump but also to eliminate the front split. Kate does the same, she has things altered to make them more Royal-appropriate (lengthened, modesty panels, etc). I guess they just didn't leave enough growing room, which is a great shame. Homestly, she needs to get some off the peg maternity dresses, which would allow for that. They could still be high-end stuff, but they'd be made to properly accomodate those changes.

UrsulaPandress · 18/12/2018 15:33

That dress is truly awful.

user1457017537 · 18/12/2018 15:37

I think Victoria Beckham designs would suit the DOS as they are tailored, stylish and eminently suitable for royal duties.

CaroloftheBalls · 18/12/2018 15:54

@CurlyWurlyTwirly Meghan’s dress today is actually 100% polyester according to the link on the Meghan’s Mirror website!

An utterly bizarre choice for a cold December day.

Moononthehill28 · 18/12/2018 15:55

That dress is absolutely awful. I can’t see it looking great on anyone really, let alone someone who is heavily pregnant. It just looks atrocious. Far too tight, a summer dress in December? No tights again either. The coat is just dull.
What on earth is going on here? Is she trying to look a mess as some sort of statement? It’s embarrassing.

WindyWednesday · 18/12/2018 15:56

Terrible dress, it looks very uncomfortable stretching across her back and shoulder blades like that. Why can’t she have a better fitting dress. A wrap dress would look beautiful on her.

Moononthehill28 · 18/12/2018 15:56

Also, what was she actually doing at an old people’s home?

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/12/2018 16:13

What do any of them do at these visits? Just meeting and greeting I guess. Perhaps it's part of her research to find charities to support. HM has been slowly offloading some of her patronages onto younger members of the family and maybe a home for retired entertainers is a good match for Meghan.

Housewife2010 · 18/12/2018 16:15

She could have bought a jewel coloured Isabella Oliver wrap dress. She would have saved loads of money, would have been much more comfortable, looked far better and it would have catered for her burgeoning bump.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/12/2018 16:16

Article about possible patronages for Meghan.

TSSDNCOP · 18/12/2018 16:17

Oh dear Meghan. Total fail.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/12/2018 16:21

Not total fail, that coat is gorgeous!

ChairinSage · 18/12/2018 16:29

I'm not liking the dress either, it just looks so uncomfortable and tight, across the bust as well as her bump. There is a massive choice of good quality maternity wear these days, it's a shame to squeeze into an ill-fitting dress.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 18/12/2018 16:34

On the website Spudlet linked, it refers to the dress as "Brock Collection's romantic and ethereal mood for Resort 2019. Made in Italy, it's tailored for a slim fit"

Call me dense, but I can't think how "resort wear" works for a retirement home visit, nor who'd pick a slim fit dress when they're heavily pregnant

What on earth was she thinking of??

Moononthehill28 · 18/12/2018 16:40

I’m actually beginning to think she’s deliberately trying to look unphotogenic. What other explanation could there be?
Also still touching her stomach. Just yuk.

Clionba · 18/12/2018 16:40

The coat is really nice, but I agree with pp, the dress is awful, and a strange choice. Why choose something ill fitting and unflattering? She has plenty of time and money, stylists and access to all manner of online shops. Not good.

Llareggub · 18/12/2018 16:42

Not that the DofS will worry about such things, but I sold my Isabella Oliver jewel wrap dress after my pregnancy for 70% of the retail price. Result!

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/12/2018 16:44

Can we please put an end to the comments about her touching her bump? It's clearly something she does so let's just leave her to it! I enjoy talking about the clothes but in the grand scheme of things, touching her stomach is hardly the greatest of sins.

OP posts:
katekat383 · 18/12/2018 16:44

It was a home for retired actors/performers. She was an actress ergo it makes sense...

katekat383 · 18/12/2018 16:46

If people want to talk about the bump touching why on earth shouldn't they?Hmm

Or are posters who begin threads able to boss other posters about? This is something of which I was not aware. Maybe the mods are able to clarify?

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 18/12/2018 16:47

Well...her coat is lovely.

The dress is just dreadful though. Honestly don't understand why she's rejecting maternity wear in favour of poorly fitting, expensive polyester.

It's 2018 and she has an unlimited budget- there's no reason she can't find some good quality maternity stuff, or properly altered "normal" clothes.

How on earth is her stylist still in a job?!

itswinetime · 18/12/2018 16:48

It's not a total fail the coat is lovely the colour is good in on her. Everyone seems to be anti the low back but I don't mind that if it fit her I'm not saying it would be on the list of top outfits but it wouldn't be that bad! I have definitely seen a lot worse. A different occasion would have helped too o agree.

Someone mention Victoria Beckham as a potential designer. Here is a hello article where Meghan says VB doesn't suit her hello

As for why is she there she's a royal supporting a charity it's pretty much all they do and given that it's a entertainment one pretty logical she is chosen.
