That’s a good idea, Ella.

In the 70s I had huge flared jeans that were really fitted on the body, with embroidery going up the legs. Wore them with cheesecloth off the shoulder tops. A long swishy Indian style skirts with teeny mirror beads. Huge velvet trousers. I also had a lot of maxi dresses that were described at the time as Victorian but with hindsight were probably more Regency Georgian, all heaving bosoms and flared from under the bust. I made a lot of these myself. Ah, those were the days, when I didn’t appreciate my looks.

In the 80s, I was into the Laura Ashley look, and I have the Farah flicks in my wedding photos (1981). I’m glad though that I fell in love with the first wedding dress I tried on, as it has largely stood the test of time in the photos and is fairly classic looking. More Kate Middleton than Princess Diana.

@not I’ve no idea about the long:short body thing either...I remember a while ago seeing a YouTube video from a FR fashion lady explaining it which left me as mystified as ever tbh...if I can find it I’ll post as it may just be me being thick...Confused

Yes I thought the starry shirt looked promising too, I’ll order if vastly reduced only as in general those blusón shapes do nothing with my boobs and will probably make me look like a starry balloon but I live in Hope...🤩

dontcallmelen · 02/01/2019 15:04

Soy happy days with ice cream coloured jeans, also had some brightly coloured stripey jumpers from Benetton, yy Indian cheesecloth
I had a peacock blue skirt with silver embroidery & the little mirror thingys all over it.
Ella good idea about getting barely worn stuff out & wearing.

SoyYo · 02/01/2019 15:07

@cherries ah the L.Ashley look and the embroidered jeans.
I had a pair I embroidered myself! They were skinny (early 80’s) but they were so great!!
I also remember jumpsuits being a “thing” when I was still at school.
So apart from “leisurewear” is there anything in fashion nowadays that’s actually not a recycled older fashion moment?

dontcallmelen · 02/01/2019 15:08

cherries those dresses sounds amazing.
I have no idea what long/short bodies waist etc mean either.
Soy I like the starry blouse, very pretty maybe try it with something fitted on the bottom half, that what I do if I’m wearing a floaty top.

dontcallmelen · 02/01/2019 15:09

I think jumpsuits are really going to have a moment again this year, they are everywhere.

miffy2 · 02/01/2019 15:12

Jumpers.

BA grey Hush LOVE jumper.
River Island pale pink oversized roll neck
River Island Coral pink oversized roll neck
H&M grey oversized roll neck (sensing a theme here)
All Saints black cashmere with a split roll neck :D
Tesco black stars on grey background (inspired by Ella I think)
Zara thin knit black/tan striped jumper

The only disappointment was the Hush via BA. It was a bit shapeless and slightly short on me. Love all the others.

I bought A LOT more that went back due to my 'love it 100% or return it asap' rule. It is working well :)

I came very close to buying a lovely navy cashmere in the White Company outlet shop the other day except it was a men's one which meant it was a tad too long in the body and arms. They only had L and XL; a M would have worked. It was only €120 too and the quality was superb.

Glad to hear I'm not the only jumper addict on here Grin

I left outside my door a returns parcel from Next due to be collected tomorrow (Thursday). When I got home today, I found a delivery from Whistles (from Hermes) but the Next parcel gone! I'm just hoping the courier collection that was supposed to be tomorrow was also Hermes and he took it while he was here.

twosoups1972 · 02/01/2019 15:36

I've bought these jumpers this season:

Boden Amy jumper in light grey
Jigsaw merino jumpers x2 (light pink and fuchsia)
Boden Muriel jumper in multi stripe
Boden Heidi jumper in turquoise
Boden Logan jumper in orange
Hush grey 3D star jumper

I'm still on the lookout for - jumper/knitted dress in a nice bright cheery colour (no more grey!). And some faux leather leggings that aren't too shiny.

Ellapaella · 02/01/2019 15:44

I have a zillion jumpers but haven't bought any Hush ones since summer - I got both the boxy Carrie jumpers in grey and pink (which I love) and I did get the petrol blue star biker sweater in October. I was very tempted by the ziggy jumper this year (again) but the potential itchiness put me off. The reviews were really bad for it.

@NotAnActualSheep not sure about the high waist thing but I have quite a long body - however the narrowest part is just under my rib cage so quite high up. I'm definitely not a pear shape as I put the weight on around my middle and not on my bum and hips. I wouldn't know what shape I was really.

Starting tomorrow the daily challenge is to wear something at least one year old. I bet we can inspire each other with our ideas and it'll actually feel quite creative to dig things out and put things together that we might not have thought of before.

Soyo your outfit today sounds fab.
