cherries Its a really lovely coat ..

I'm ok , up and down tbh, better on my own than with people .. I have decided not to go back to work until the New year, (I had leave owing and I'm lucky as my job isn't customer facing . l have a really understanding boss also so that's good) . How is your DD?

In some ways (although Boxing day will be harder as that's when we would get together with my parents and I'm hosting DF and DB here this year ) Christmas day probably wont be so sad.. We could never see them on 25th (ferries dont run) and they would never stay over.. .Also DM and DF had never really been that bothered about Christmas in the last few years anyway.. .

Len I havent yet tackled the cupboard with cereals/ rice /pasta/ dried beans/flour ! (but they last forever dont they?)

NotAnActualSheep · 18/12/2018 22:22

No, not off to warmer climes, sadly Xmas Sad...just on a work trip til Thursday. I don't like flying in the UK generally, but it is a bit of a no brainer to get to where I am (nowhere exciting or really remote...but a pain to get to by train - 6-7 hours with lots of changes. Not saying where, in case any of you are objecting to my planning application Xmas Grin) and about half the cost of the train...crazy. I may have had a feel in the Brora shop, but didn't buy anything Halo.

Lol at the cupboard cleaning. I'm sure we have some dried beans that have moved home with me twice...so must be at least 12 years old. Don't want to get rid of them now, for sentimental reasons. And we may need them in March with all the food shortages...

Liveinthepresent · 18/12/2018 23:03

Thanks Soy that’s helpful. I must admit I am a bit of a lurker on these threads and do own rather a lot of Hush - can’t keep up with you all though !!
I will let you know if I go for it .

Cherries coat looks fab.

SoyYo · 19/12/2018 09:40

Live you’re more than welcome and wait to hear what you think if you decide to go for it. Also don’t be a stranger it’s great when people drop in for a chat (Hush or not) and it can be as little or as often as you want.

Morning everyone! I’m trying to remain centred despite last minute dramas at work (not my own but dramas nevertheless Hmm) and I usually listen to Radio 4 in the mornings as I get ready to tackle the days work tasks, but at 9am they Had this programme I’ve never heard before called Soul Music and The River by Joni Mitchell was the chosen soul song of the day. Well...I have a tear in my eye now. It combined the beautiful song with ordinary people telling stories about what the song means to them.
So I must be in tune with the zeitgeist is all I can say.Xmas Smile
Do listen to it online if you get a quiet half hour to yourselves this Xmas.
Next weeks Soul Music is Pink Floyd. Can’t wait!

Wishing you all a Happy Wednesday

dontcallmelen · 19/12/2018 11:19

Live that dress is lovely gorgeous colours.
Soy ooh sounds good, will try & have a listen when I have a moment taking dgd to the hell that is soft play shortly if I’m not back in a couple of hours, come & rescue me.
Laska good that you take the time off & boss is a good un, totally get the better being on your own, think it helps sometimes to get to grips with your own thoughts & emotions💐

EachandEveryone · 19/12/2018 11:44

I got a couple of jumpers in the Boden sale im really happly with

Im going to see Hamilton tonight with the gbf and his husband so im not expecting tobe home and sober anytime soon. It will be fabulous.

dontcallmelen · 19/12/2018 11:58

Each me too should be delivered today, they had some good reductions, ooh that sounds like fabulous night out enjoy.

EachandEveryone · 19/12/2018 12:04

I hit a lovely striped one with bell sleeves

ilovecherries · 19/12/2018 12:26

Oh, DH is taking DD to see Hamilton first weekend in January, she’s really looking forward to it. He gives her an outing, just the two of them, every year for Xmas. Although he remarked that the singing kettle followed by a rare KFC treat of the olden days was rather cheaper! He assumed she wouldn’t want him to go this year and offered to just give her two tickets to take who she wants, and she was mortally offended. Xmas Grin. Apparently a whole day with dad is part of the treat. I think he was secretly chuffed Xmas Smile

ilovecherries · 19/12/2018 13:16

Does this look a tad...I dunno, hate the word, but frumpy? I don’t look as I imagined in my minds eye. Snakeskin Marina, fine knit black cashmere.

A very Meryl-y Christmas to all.. Hush Christmas continued
SoyYo · 19/12/2018 13:35

@cherries I love it! Not remotely frumpy! You do look fab in it and love your hair/makeup today 😍
What makes you think it doesn’t look good? I’m completely puzzled Hmm

SoyYo · 19/12/2018 13:37

@Each have a fab time and good to read you’re pleased with your latest sale haul
@melen hope you survived soft play!

Talisin · 19/12/2018 13:42

My Ceres skirt has been delivered but I can’t get it till this evening. I’ve also somehow acquired the black with white stars Emanuelle dress via Waitrose pick up just now. Oops.

I’m very jealous of all those seeing Hamilton - it’s the best thing I have ever seen on stage by some distance.

ilovecherries · 19/12/2018 13:51

Thanks, soy. Maybe just having a crisis of confidence Grin. You know that way you look in the mirror sometimes and the person you see there isn’t who you expected? Just that really. I was swanning about feeling fabulous and then caught sight of myself and thought ‘oh. Didn’t realise I looked like that’. Anyway, but on my big girl pants and I’m off on the train wearing it with a leather biker and a huge cashmere scarf in silver grey.

SoyYo · 19/12/2018 14:05

Yes cherries totally understand, go and have a great time you honestly look really good in the marina snake and black jumper! Smile
@Talisin I’m trying so hard to resist looking at more lovely things online 🙈 hope the new Hush purchases are winners for you. I’m expecting the Wallis sequin jumper to arrive today which will hopefully stop me from another online naughty purchase yeah right, we’ve heard it all before

EachandEveryone · 19/12/2018 14:18

Skirt from new look I’m very pleased

A very Meryl-y Christmas to all.. Hush Christmas continued
Ellapaella · 19/12/2018 14:59

@ilovecherries I think you look fantastic in the snakey marina skirt and black jumper. I really love that outfit. Not at all frumpy - very chic.

OP posts:
Laska2Meryls · 19/12/2018 18:35

cherries I love the cashmere marina skirt look( could be because i do it also!) you look great in the snakey Marina.. lovely about your DD and her dad as well..

each like the NL skirt also )
soy I shall definitely listen to that podcast..

Met a friend for lunch and she paid 'for my birthday' which was very sweet of her and it was nice to get out, but also weird in a way to be doing ordinary things ....it was a nice lunch also , mushroom bruschetta and a glass of wine, and was nice to catch up..I've not seen her (or anyone really) as she has been working away since before this all happened and it was good to catch up ..

One thing i have noticed about grief is that buying 'stuff' doesn't seem to matter much.. I wondered around the shops looking at clothes and christmas things but it all seemed a bit bleugh.. Did get petrol , buy some toiletries in Boots and one last present.. However despite not buying clothes i dont seem to have been spending less money (have been looking at bank accounst and sorting them out properly today f r the first time in about 8 weeks - Iam usually so on it ) , its probably all gone on Wine and ruddy tyres

UtahGirl12 · 19/12/2018 18:43

Yes!!! I finally have a Carpe Diem T shirt in the right size! The zebra print skirt went back though, looked awful on me. Too short and tight, and the gathered bit on the front did my belly no favours!

Laska2Meryls · 19/12/2018 18:51

oh look sorry, I'm raining on the parade.. you dont need that stuff but I cant edit that post.. so please ignore the last bit

dontcallmelen · 19/12/2018 19:48

Laska don’t be sorry, it’s very early days & this time of year does just make it a tad more difficult, yy buying stuff dunno just think sort of normal stuff just feels odd somehow, it’s a little like a parallel universe everyday life v loss.
Each lovely haul NL do have some gems at times.
Cherries outfit is really lovely & dd still wanting her treat with her DF is lovely.
TalisinOops 😃
Utah hurrah for tshirt.

Liveinthepresent · 19/12/2018 20:06

Thanks soy for being so welcoming am waiting for pay day to decide on the dress as December is such an expensive time .

Just came back to say Cherries you look fab in that outfit - I have the snake Marina but look nowhere near that stylish in mine !

I can relate to your reflection not being who you expect to see I am getting that a lot after a period of weight gain . Hardly recognise myself ! Need to get back onto low carb boot camp in new year .

Laska sorry to read of your loss it’s an extra difficult time of year to be dealing with it all

whiskyremorse · 19/12/2018 20:59

Laska - after my mum died I couldn't listen to music or take interest in anything like shopping. I used to drive around in silence as the sound of the radio or music used to grate. Everyone reacts differently and you should give yourself time and lots of it x

ilovecherries · 19/12/2018 21:59

Oh laska, don’t apologise. We aren’t just here for the fluff. Flowers

Live, thank you and welcome. I’ve lost nearly 6 stone on the Lichfield boot camp on MN. A very stubborn 6 lbs still to go!

neveradullmoment99 · 19/12/2018 22:06

Well thats me off now until the 7th January!
Most presents are bought and i am going to do wrapping tomorrow.

@Laska2Meryls. I am sure i speak on behalf of everyone on here, never ever apologise for saying how you feel on here Flowers Nobody thinks you are raining on their parade.

Bereavement and losing someone you love Is SO hard. Some days are better than others and it does seem to put things into perspective. The way we deal with it is different. You are most welcome to chat at any time on here. No-one will think bad of you or think anything about you posting except to have the deapest sympathy for what you are going through.
