Sorry I've been at work and then partying .. whoever asked about the necklace I haven't worn it yet but will take a pic if it later . It's really lovely ! ... we have a lady round here who makes a business from buying things from eBay and selling them , she has good taste and she was selling it for £25 odd!!

hendricksy · 16/12/2018 08:01

I've always bought bits like that on eBay and fhey are lovely .. I don't begrudge her a living but when I mention it to friends they somehow think she gets them from somewhere else( read better 🙄) but she doesn't 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
At the end of the day most stuff comes from China .. may as well cut out a few middle men and buy it myself !

SoyYo · 16/12/2018 10:35

Just popping in to say I love your 🎄 melen it’s beautiful.
not your inner country lady must be thrilled with the jumper dress and jacket. Both really suit you and you’re nothing like a potato, in fact I’d say you’re lithe.
cherries no advice on eyebrows but Hope you find someone good. It’ll give you a super confidence boost I’m sure if you no longer need to think about it on a daily basis.
Porpoise well done on bagging a Meryl it looks great 👍
hendricks must look at eBay more often amazing bargains and pretty necklace

Have I forgotten anyone? Hi to everyone else. Not a lot to report here but finally started my Xmas shopping this weekend and the tree is now done. Still not feeling particularly festive but I’m sure I will given time. I’m just into a more reflective inward phase this weekend just wanting to hibernate...Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday

SoyYo · 16/12/2018 10:44

Oh yes forgot to comment on the musical family chat it’s so lovely to read that @ella and @melen.
My DH Scottish family are not remotely musical but my DF’ family are and were. My DGF was an amazing piano player and music teacher. I played the piano for years when I was young but gave up when I came to the UK, it’s on my bucket list to return to piano lessons when I retire. One of the things I love about getting together with my Spanish cousins on DF side is there’s always a LOT of singing and guitar playing, every time we get together ❤️
And my DS2 plays the guitar, DS1 is a really good drummer, so they’ve definitely inherited my musical gene.
DS2 particularly just finished his degree in music production and sound engineering and has been in quite a few Indy bands last one in Brighton which folded up because all his music college mates left after finishing. He’s always strumming a tune.

@dontcallmemelen we had a lovely holiday in Cork 4 or 5 years ago, we stayed at Inchydonny (sp?) right on the beach Smile

twosoups1972 · 16/12/2018 11:06

If anyone is interested Whistles have a sale at the moment. Spotted this rather nice pink jumper:

www.whistles.com/women/sale/knitwear/funnel-neck-wool-knit-28273.html?cgid=Knitwear_Sale_WW&dwvar_funnel-neck-wool-knit-28273_color=Pink#sz=244&start=0

dontcallmelen · 16/12/2018 11:16

Ohh Two such a beautiful place, were you at the hotel that overlooks the beach? I am biased but Cork is brilliant for a holiday lots to see & do.

twosoups1972 · 16/12/2018 11:17

Yes we were melen! We booked quite late and got a very good deal I seem to remember. My dds loved the beach, they made huge spirals in the sand. And we kissed the Blarney stone!

twosoups1972 · 16/12/2018 11:18

I'd love to go back to Ireland, where else is good to visit?

dontcallmelen · 16/12/2018 11:23

Aww, lovely place have very fond memories of the beach & hotel, yeahy tis compulsory to kiss the Blarney Stone 😃

dontcallmelen · 16/12/2018 11:26

Clare is beautiful as well, the coast is stunning & some amazing castles to see also some beautiful villages, we stayed in an amazing hotel called The Falls Hotel in Ennistymon which is a really good base to see lots of attractions.

Talisin · 16/12/2018 17:05

Finished decorating my tree at 2.30am this morning! Almost gave up and went to bed but took a break, logged on here, saw melen’s tree and got re-inspired Xmas Grin Anyway when I (finally) got up this morning I caved to the ‘last day for 30% off’ email from Hush and ordered the Ceres skirt. I feel the need for glittery glimery clothing.

hendricksy that necklace is gorgeous! Second the request for a photo of it being worn.

A very Meryl-y Christmas to all.. Hush Christmas continued
dontcallmelen · 16/12/2018 17:11

Talisin fab fab tree, glad I spurred you on to finish, can’t have enough glittery stuff & with 30% sort of rude not to.

dontcallmelen · 16/12/2018 17:46

Soy it’s good sometimes to have some reflection especially in such a busy world & if we have worries or concerns, yy the hibernating I detest the cold gets into my bones Dh reckons I have no thermostat as I alternate between mad flushes & freezing.
Spanish side of the family sound great fun & when you have more time getting back to playing the piano sounds like an excellent plan.
cherries dd knows someone who does microblading but again in London & quite a few months waiting list, probably a stupid question so apologies but have you tried tinting at a salon? As they can make the eyebrow wider with the tint & last about six weeks.

ilovecherries · 16/12/2018 19:54

Yeah, it’s tinting I’ve been doing up till now, Len, (though I only get 2-3 weeks out of it). But the problem is that if this continues, I won’t have anything to actually tint. Hanging onto brows and lashes kept everything manageable in terms of looks, but if I lose my brows then drawn-on is not going to be adequate, I will need something more invasive. And I am not bloody wearing stick on brows, which has just been suggested to me on a hair loss forum :(. If it comes to that, I will rip off my wig and go completely hairless. Im a great believer in enough red lipstick adding enough IDGAF to carry me through most situations. I should have researched this before though - I never appreciated the waiting time to get someone good. Or the cost. Or how far I’d have to travel. Feeling hard done by and having a pity party, as you can probably tell!

dontcallmelen · 16/12/2018 20:29

Aw cherries every right to have a pity party, ffs stick on ones.
Apologies again for stating the bleedin obvious in my pp, I didn’t realise either until a little while ago, the expense of microblading & waiting list for a well recommended/experienced practitioner, was my dd researching must admit I was very surprised how expensive it is.
Wish I could think of something, that might work in the interim 💐

PorpoisefullyObtuse · 16/12/2018 21:40

Cherries I am so sorry to hear you are having a bloody hard time. One of my friends lost all her hair after the birth of her first child, she retained some of her eyelashes, it was incredibly brutal.

You have fought through so, so much, you shouldn’t have to fight any more but you will as that’s just who you are.

ilovecherries · 16/12/2018 22:33

Ach, no one died from hair loss, I’m just pissed off. :)

NotAnActualSheep · 17/12/2018 08:57

Morning all. Thanks len, Ella and soy for the confirmation of negative potatoesque-ness in the jumper dress. Still haven't managed to look at the colours in daylight as its been so gloomy here, and I've been out for the 37minutes of sunshine we have had over the weekend!

Went to DSs choir concert on Saturday, and I think that although he may have inherited some of DHs musicality, he's definitely got my gene for crippling stage fright...he looked terrified poor thing. But remembered the words and didn't run away, which is something. And I survived the rendition of Silent Night by the primary age recorder consort...not the most calm or peaceful experience (...bagpipes next year...).

porpoise the Meryl looks great on you! Definitely keep as a present to yourself! And I love the drapey top with leggings. You've reminded me that I have a similar one (dark green with tiny white spots) that I should wear more...but I think today is a hibernating kind of day with All The Jumpers.

cherries- sorry to hear about your eyebrow woes. I briefly considered it a while back but didn't get as far as contacting anyone. Basically, a huge patch of my left eyebrow decided to fall off overnight, on the day after the brexit referendum. I have absolutely no idea why...other than a political statement made by my eyebrows...? I looked frankly ridiculous... as if I'd decided to shave a patch across my face, as the rest of my brows are quite full. There wasn't anything left to tint, so the beauty therapist mentioned blading...but I was just a bit scared, looking into it. Luckily it grew back within a year, and I just coloured it in til then. But I can totally understand where you're coming from as they are such a key part of our face (hadn't really thought about then til that happened).

I'm loving len and talisin's trees! V v festive! And also hendricksy's necklace - that is lovely and such a bargain. I am awful in that I do kind of "value" things more if I have bought it from a "boutique" seller...even though you're right that everything comes from the same place. I suppose, because I trust that it is decentish quality and I haven't gone totally rogue on the styling...But I should look more on places like eBay.

And yy for Talisin's glittery clothing need! I've decided I'm going to wear the Ceres to my planning hearing on Wednesday, and sod trying to look serious and professional! If they schedule it less than a week before Christmas they should be glad I don't turn up as Elf, frankly.

SoyYo · 17/12/2018 10:44

Morning! It’s a beautiful sunny day in East Anglia and my mood is immediately lifted...thanks Mr Bluesky 😎

not Grin Ceres all the way this week! Although Elf would be hilarious 🤣 I remember fondly the school Xmas shows, the enthusiastic out of tune singing and the laughs we had, you’re fortunate you’ve got a few more years yet of those hilarious renditions Smile

Love your tree talisin so colourful!
Here’s mine which is fake and white. I bought it 10 years ago when DH was in hospital after a very serious motorcycle accident, it was late December and we weren’t sure he’d make it home for Xmas (he was released in the end just 2 days before in a wheelchair) and it had been a traumatic time for me and the boys. I was spending most days in hospital as DH underwent multiple ops to save his foot, and the boys were 12 and 16 at the time going to school and being fed by a variety of very kind neighbors and friends as I usually didn’t make it back till after 9pm. Suddenly it dawned on me I didn’t have a tree and couldn’t manage the time to source a real one without help...all the Xmas decorations were in the attic. The attic is nasty and again too much time and hard work without DH...
I bought this white tree from Argos which came with some baubles too and popped into a local shop for the fairy lights. It was so late they’d run out of normal fairy lights so ended up with the outdoor type that hang down like icicles on the front of houses. But as they’re white they actually didn’t look too bad...
And so that year there was a different white tree in our house to cheer up the boys and the biggest present was having DH come Home after 8 weeks in Hospital ❤️

Since then we’ve become attached to the cheap white tree, and in the last decade it’s got shabbier with each passing year (but superbly cheap and environmentally friendly Wink).
This year I contemplated for around half hour getting a real one. Then I realised this is possibly the last year in the house we’ve been in for the last 23, and the cheap white fake tree will definitely not survive a house move so here it is in all its fake glory. Hope you enjoyed my Xmas tree tale. Xmas Smile

Ellapaella · 17/12/2018 10:45

Anyone bought anything recently? I'm having a dry spell in anticipation of Christmas spending.
Only thing I'd still like is a pair of coated jeans - waiting for sale for those.
Hush wise I'd like the rainbow earring climbers but they are OOS. Still lusting after lots of different knitwear but I have more than enough at the moment.
I have treated myself to a beautiful pair of very warm and cosy slipper boots from FatFace (after returning Christmas jumper). They were very expensive for slippers but absolutely perfect for keeping my feet toasty warm - I'm one of those people who always has cold feet.

Not😂😂 at eyebrows making a political statement & well done Ds for getting on the stage.
Soy love your Christmas tree tale, it’s looks a very happy 🎄& glad you are feeling bit more festive, lovely sunny day here as well.
Ella those slippers are fab, another one here with freezing feet haven’t bought anything I’m a bit shopped out I think, but saying that boden have reductions & I will probably get some stuff for dgd as they usually have some good bargains.

Talisin · 17/12/2018 11:22

It’s a lovely, cheerful looking tree, Soy and with a family history attached. Those are the best.

In my sparkly clothing quest I saw this snowflake jumper in the Wallis concession in Debenhams as I was walking past and thought, I’ll have that! It’s nice and bum-coveringly long as well - result!
