Aw thanks for the 🎄💕girls Xmas Smile
Like those slippers a lot @ella and if I didn’t already own the marvellous Hush slipons I'd be super tempted.
@melen yy Boden are starting their 50% sale today I think a lot of retailers are starting early this year to give sales a boost which is not surprising when you hear ASOS are really struggling this year...I put it down to bloody Brexit but I’m not going to discuss politics in this thread or I’ll end up losing eyebrows a la not

And since you asked yes I have done one last purchase pour moi, as I haven’t got anything new and cheerful to wear on Xmas day. I didn’t fancy a Xmas jumper but I do like to change for Xmas dinner and I thought this was reasonably priced in the sale and IF it fits it should be flattering on my shape, it’s more of a in between season dress than winter but I’ve returned so many Hush dresses (they don’t flatter me) and the colour is saying Xmas to me, plus I don’t own a lot of bright colours in my wardrobe so if it’s nice it’ll be great throughout the year. It’s also free delivery and returns:

What do you think?

SoyYo · 17/12/2018 11:35

talisin totally ❤️❤️❤️ the Wallis snowflake jumper (you are tempting me!!)

SoyYo · 17/12/2018 12:09

talisin you’ve totally enabled me to get a Xmas jumper having already said I don’t usually go for them. It’s black which I always like but with the sparkle it makes it very festive and so totally bargainous (found a 10% discount voucher too which brought down delivery charge to £1.50 so can’t complain at £25.50) I don’t care if it doesn’t last beyond a couple of washes...
So if the ghost dress is a fail at least I’ll have something new and sparkly to wear on the day.
Thank You for the post!! Xmas Smile

NotAnActualSheep · 17/12/2018 12:27

soy I love your white tree - it really makes the decorations stand out! And definitely one with memories - even if they aren't necessarily the memories you want..though at least your DH was home for Christmas that year, which must have been a huge relief at a stressful time.

The pink ghost dress is Brilliant! Love the colour and embroidery on it - and as you say, not just a Christmas dress. Could wear a jacket or cropped cardigan over it for warmth, maybe? Hope it is a winner for you... Though you will have talisin's gorgeous sparkly jumper even if not!

ella I got some similar fat face boots for Christmas about 4 years ago, and agree they are lovely (and can confirm the warmth!). I ruined mine by a frantic early-morning bin-putting-out emergency in the snow, though, and the fluff in the bottom got all wet and never really recovered (so don't do that Xmas Grin). But they were good for a couple of years though, which is pretty good going for me.

Ive noticed everywhere seems to be starting sales with big discounts earlier than usual. Do you all think there will be more discounts in January? Or is that likely to be it until they do "final reductions" of the dregs at the end of Jan?

Talisin · 17/12/2018 12:32

Soy happy to be a Christmas jumper enabler Xmas Smile Hope the Ghost dress works out as well, It’s really lovely.

SoyYo · 17/12/2018 13:57

@not I’m in between not festive at all work teleconference calls, more grinch like if I’m honest Xmas Grin but to say I reckon there will be further reductions in Jan but it may be on the dregs...so if you’re after something specific like a new coat or handbag may well be worth looking at what’s on offer now.
On the ghost dress yes plan to wear with one of my Boden cashmere crop cardies, I have lots from old seasons (judging by reviews I don’t think they’re as nice now) from black to purple, navy blue to green and a few other shades in between.
@Talisin I’ll post a pic of the Wallis snowflake sparkle when I get it Xmas Wink which should be later this week

ilovecherries · 17/12/2018 16:47

What do you all think? Does it look like a dressing gown? It’s half price and I have tried it on in store but thought it was way overpriced (and possibly too dressing-gown-esque), but now it’s been reduced it’s been following me round the internet all day so now seeking other opinions. (I suspect it IS like a dressing gown!)

A very Meryl-y Christmas to all.. Hush Christmas continued
ilovecherries · 17/12/2018 16:51

That is a lovely dress, Soy.

SoyYo · 17/12/2018 17:27

Thanks @cherries fingers crossed it fits.
I like the lipstick pink shade of the coat in your pic, like you not sure if the style and how useful it would be without buttons/just a tie belt but also I don’t think it looks like a dressing gown...did you like it when you tried it on? Is it a flannel type fabric? It looks like a more structured long cardigan than a traditional coat so would be quite useful when driving/nipping in and out of centrally heated places when you need a lighter cover than a full on heavy coat.

NotAnActualSheep · 17/12/2018 17:32

It is a lovely lovely colour cherries (can you tell I adore that colour - its similar to soy's dress!) but I have to say I do think that style of coat can do the dressing gown thing! Not that one particularly - but all coats where there is no fastening other than that kind of belt. I've fallen foul of that before...

It actually looks lovely open like in that picture - but why make a coat that can only be worn open?? The other pictures on the website are more dressing-gowny IMO. And I'm a bit suspicious they haven't done any full length shots on an actual person or even a model with it done up in either colour...

Sorry! It's definitely a good reduction though if you are in the market for a v expensive dressing-gown.

Disclaimer - I am often wrong about this kind of thing.

ilovecherries · 17/12/2018 17:35

Yes, it’s a very soft felted wool, quite like the hush Felix dress in texture, although I think it’s got some polyester in it as well. The sleeves are lined so it slips on easily, but the rest of the coat is double faced. It’s a nice cool pink, it’s just out of my comfort zone, and not a retirement coat! Need to keep reminding myself I won’t be going to meetings in a few months. I thought it looked nice sitting open, so less convinced when it was tied.

ilovecherries · 17/12/2018 17:38

And yes, not, why do all the models have their heads chopped off? Do they have their rollers in, a chiffon scarf tied round their heads and their faces slathered in face cream?

Talisin · 17/12/2018 17:40

The only picture that makes it look dressing gown-ish is the not-on-the-model with the belt tied one. Otherwise no, not at all to my eye. It’s really nice and an excellent reduction.

neveradullmoment99 · 17/12/2018 17:41

I think it looks beautiful but, not convinced by having not even one button. I personally do not suit a belt tied like that. It bunches imo and looks untidy and never looks like the picture. It would also add bulk at waisr.

neveradullmoment99 · 17/12/2018 17:42

If it suits you, go for it.colour is beutiful.

dontcallmelen · 17/12/2018 17:49

Talisin that is a fab jumper & brilliant price.
Soy totally love that dress💓 I think it will really suit you yy with a cropped cardi.
Cherries I really like the coat, beautiful colour & as you are tall I think it would look good on you, could you get a button put in?then gives you the option of closing it without the belt, I would definitely order it & see what it looks like in the flesh.

dontcallmelen · 17/12/2018 17:57

@Laska2meryls hope you are ok.

NotAnActualSheep · 17/12/2018 19:17

Oh yes - len has a good idea - in that you could get buttons added to give you options. If you wouldn't mind the additional expense (would probably only be a tenner or so). To be honest, I haven't seen anything else quite like that in terms of colour and style - so if you really like it otherwise that could be a good compromise.

lol @ the models prepping for bed in their dressing gowns Xmas Grin

yy to laska2meryl - hope you're OK!

twosoups1972 · 17/12/2018 19:47

Wow this thread moves fast, I can't keep up!

Hope everyone is feeling festive. I love all the tree pictures.

@ilovecherries lovely coat in a gorgeous colour.

neveradullmoment99 · 17/12/2018 20:13

@Laska2meryls hope you are ok! Not seen you on for a few days Smile

SoyYo · 17/12/2018 20:22

I’m starting to feel festive Xmas Smile Finally!!! Xmas parcels (thank God for the internet and not having to brave the shopping centres this time of year) keep arriving though this coming weekend plan to have a little mooch in a nearby market town Saturday market as I do feel a bit guilty at not supporting local traders...it’s my duty!! And our boys do prefer cash...I should have spent more time on Etsy or eBay hunting out homemade/crafty goodies but my big boys are into tech and boy stuff which is not so easy to source from craftspeople...Xmas Hmm

cherries go for it and like me just return if you change your mind, it’s such a beautiful colour and it’ll only play on your mind otherwise.

@not I forgot to add on my white Xmas tree, only happy memories because DH did come home that Xmas after all the trauma and so it ended up being one of our family’s happiest Christmasses ever, I guess this is why everyone who sees it thinks “happy tree” Xmas Smile and I remember at the time it was the first time I ever bought a fake tree which is why I decided on white. If you fake it fake it Big Time I say Xmas Grin

ilovecherries · 17/12/2018 20:29

I’ve just put ours up. First time in 22 years no kids to help. Got ridiculously sniffly at all the ‘baby’s first Xmas’ decorations. But we are going home to see my parents at the weekend and will bring dd back here with us. Although given she’s been in pants for three solid weeks she will probably assume the position on the sofa with the tv remote and a tin of QS and not speak for 10 days.

ilovecherries · 17/12/2018 20:30

Panto. Although I do hope she was also wearing pants!

SoyYo · 17/12/2018 20:31

Another Family Xmas that sticks in my mind is the one when DS2 was only 5 months old and DS1 had just turned 4. It was chaotic as DH came down with man flu big time so couldn’t help with the day...and I couldn’t cope with two young DS on tow. It had snowed heavily to brave a drive to the supermarket and boys too little to care about Xmas dinner with all the trimmings...so I cooked a chicken and made a bechamel sauce for the boiled spuds and veg Xmas Grin
DH managed a bite and baby DS2 kept being fractious...we both ended up in hysterics laughing at our disastrous Xmas!

I think those can sometimes be the best...when everything goes tits up and you then give up altogether (don’t get me started on the one when we trekked up to Scotland with a sick 2 month old projectile vomiting in the long car journey...)

What’s your Disastrous Xmas that was so wrong it was totally right?Xmas Smile

SoyYo · 17/12/2018 20:40

Aw cherries I know what you mean...opening Xmas decs came across a hilarious Santa with moving legs that DS2 made at school when he was 5 and some cardboard baubles with most of the glitter now missing that DS1 made at kindergarten...sniff...
