Yeah but I bet it's one of those that can have extra leaves added and can seat 300 if necessary! 😆

keiratwiceknightly · 03/12/2018 07:14

That photo of PH is delightful - the little lads face! And the way the clouds are makes it look like he has bionic shoes on and is about to take off!

WipsGlitter · 03/12/2018 07:16

Do you not think it would be a total nightmare to feel you had to go to your grannies every flipping Christmas??

Kate was just right to go to her parents and now they seem to spend the day with her too - with K&W ducking in and out of Sandringham.

user1457017537 · 03/12/2018 07:28

CurlyWurlyTwirly I agree the table does look small and the settings too close together. It also looks, dare I say it, cheap.
Not impressed, after the magnificence of state occasions this seems underwhelming.

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/12/2018 07:30

If the stories about Christmas at Sandringham are true (children eat in the nursery etc) then it all sounds very dreary. Christmas chez Carole sounds much more fun!

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/12/2018 07:33

Honestly, the Daily Mail with "Kate and William WILL spend Christmas at Sandringham" when no one but them said they weren't!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 03/12/2018 08:22

I think all the 2nd & 3rd cousins get invited to the lunch at BP
It's just all the immediate children and grandchildren who are there on Christmas morning.
I think its terrible all the children have to eat in the nursery

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 03/12/2018 08:23

So when the Queen dies, I wonder whether all the siblings will troop to Sandringham to have lunch with (bachelor) Uncle Charles

queenofarles · 03/12/2018 08:24

Shock at the table setting. it looks very dated, perhaps the pic was taken in the 80s?

had a look around the twitter page and whats more shocking is the ex royal chief yule cake, very amateurish.

ElspethFlashman · 03/12/2018 08:51

In fairness, the kids probably have a ball in the nursery. It means the Nannies have to be working Christmas Day though, which is a bit shit. Hopefully it's not full hours but it could well be. Sad

Good article in the Irish Independant. It implies the whispers are coming from courtiers as a warning to Meghan "we've been through diva shit before, we won't take it from someone who won't even be bloody Queen"

Clionba · 03/12/2018 08:58

I read that as well. They don't want another superstar in the royal family. Interesting advice from Michelle Obama to take it slowly.
The Sandringham lunch is probably a bit grander than the photo would suggest! It's only one day, these folks are rich enough to go off to Verbier for a couple of weeks afterwards.

Parker231 · 03/12/2018 09:01

I would never have my DC’s eat in the nursery, RF or not. Christmas lunch with the whole family present is the highlight of my day.

Paradyning · 03/12/2018 09:01

Thanks for the Nobel's link

Now this is a maternity dress!

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/12/2018 09:05

@FlyMaybe Lord Fellowes is correct as he was made a Lord. They're only Lord Firstname if they're the son of a duke, like Nicholas Windsor. Or a Prince I guess, like Freddie.

Clionba · 03/12/2018 09:21

I remember reading Diana's apartment at KP had a nursery floor. For all that she was a hands on mum, William and Harry ate there with the nanny, even if she was dining alone. I think it's the aristocrac way.

FlyMaybe · 03/12/2018 09:30

@QueenOfTheAndals agree that he is correctly addressed as Lord Fellowes. My point was that he shouldn't be addressed as Sir Fellowes.

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/12/2018 09:32

Ah sorry, I misread!

The Irish Independent is a tabloid in all but name and is known for its poor writing.

Thank you for all that information Want2bSupermum. I have not had time to digest it properly but it is fascinating. I hope you didn’t go from having everything to having nothing and you had a flat ina very nice area, rainy day funds etc

PawneeParksDept · 03/12/2018 10:13

@CurlyWurlyTwirly

I've wondered whether Camilla's children will attend at that point.

They are basically nothing to the Queen but on her death they'll become the King's Stepchildren

I suppose the others will continue to attend for William, Harry, Zara, Bea and Eug they are in their 30s and have done this all their lives, they may want a change, but never have Christmas again where you've always had it - doubtful

DontCallMeCharlotte · 03/12/2018 10:32

I love how CP Vic was wearing the Baden Fringe in those Nobel pictures. I want to love the Connaught and would love to see it in the flesh (never gonna happen) because I think it looks like it's made out of this stuff:

www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjin-_euYPfAhUKxYUKHcltAYcQjRx6BAgBEAU&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hobbycraft.co.uk%2Fsilver-tinsel-pipe-cleaners-25-pack%2F570319-1004&psig=AOvVaw3X9Usv_7t9p5IgZQiDCnZS&ust=1543919287025774

Sorry for epic link.

In fact thinking about it, I made a headdress out of those pipecleaners for fancy dress once and it looked remarkably like the Connaught tiara! (decades before I ever saw a picture of it)

Ktay · 03/12/2018 10:53

Royal Christmases seem to have switched between Sandringham and Windsor a bit over the years. I think HM prefers Sandringham but Windsor was better for larger gatherings - then rewiring and later the fire meant it moved back to Sandringham again.

Which is all a long-winded way of saying Charles will have experienced both so won’t necessarily be wedded to keeping things as they are now.

Cornwall73 · 03/12/2018 11:11

Nobel Prize Ceremony will be in the 10th December 2018

LivLemler · 03/12/2018 11:22

I love that picture of the queen's table! Cosy and fun, rather than grand.

AhoyDelBoy · 03/12/2018 12:07
