Apparently Meghan was out today to. Rubbish picture for outfit but I do like her her down.

Spudlet he remembered the your majesty the first time then had a mind blank. Fortunately his Commanding officer has known HM and the DoE for many years so he was only hit with a large mess fine not thrown in the brig. Next time the squadron are asked to submit names for a BP garden party I'll contact the squadron admin office myself.

Not the most exciting wardrobe except for the sleeves on the last suit in the link (very Maxima). But let's just consider something: she is 80! She stepped down from being queen to enjoy being retired, and yet she still flies half way around the world to undertake a reasonably busy itinerary in very hot weather

I wish HMQ had done something similar 15 years ago (I know why that wasn't an option for her)

I don't like those wide legged flares on Kate or the olive green jacket.

Kate has changed. She's looking good. I agree that it's nice to see her in a jacket and trousers (not super skinny jeggings either!) much more stylish and youthful.
Perhaps a navy top, though?

I have a photo of my great great grandmother in a similar bonnet and black silk, looking similarly grim. Not a lady to mess with.

I love those trews and also the jacket on KM. The wider leg is a look I haven't seen on her before. Looks fab.

The right hand shot in the photo posted by itswinetime was a very unfortunate angle, I agree, but KM's left butt cheek looked fine (there's a sentence I never thought I would type...)

I think the jacket was gorgeous in the khaki colour. A black or navy would have looked wrong, too businessy, and a brighter colour would have been too glam. The khaki was perfect with the trouser colour and the white top and perfect for the occasion, which was a bolstering of military families coming up to Christmas. I would have gone with a clutch to match the trousers instead of the khaki one. Maybe patent.

I like her pony tail too. Is it my imagination or has she worn a pony tail quite a bit in the recent past? It's nicer than CP Victoria of Sweden's severely pulled back style imo.

CP Victoria has a 'Croydon facelift' with that tight ponytail/ bun

Thé only shot of her came from a Kings College Instagram. (My old college). I know you can slip in there very easily without being seen. I’ve seen the Queen driving down a side road.

I hope she brazens it out. I’d have been tempted to alert them & smile & wave for all I was worth. Just to confuse them.

Not just the British royals out and about today here is Letizia in a navy and lace dress. The colour is nice and I like the skirt part not sure on the lace cut out though

Going against the grain, didn't love KM's top today, the blouse is just too plain and t-shirty IMO. I think a belted jacket in a brighter colour would have looked nice.

That top Kate is wearing is dreadful and the bum shot is terribly unflattering which is a very hard thing for her to achieve, I have seen her bikini shots and her bottom is perfection (can’t believe I have just typed that) i absolutely loved yesterday’s outfit though.

Jesus. Can you imagine if one of the Brit's wore Leti's dress. The press would fall over!

It’s funny how people have such different perspectives on Kate’s apparel! I think she looked gorgeous today. As she did in the tartan skirt and the gown at various times yesterday. She is a hard act to beat.

It is strange Kitkate. I think she generally dresses dreadfully when she's on duty. But each to their own.

katekat yep in the same way as someone up thread has suggested she should have opted for a black t-shirt today when usually people are saying black with navy is a no no. Different people have different ideas, tastes and opinions.

I loved Catherine's look today and agree she's looking more relaxed these days. Maybe she's grateful for Meghan's arrival in terms of taking the pressure off as being the sole focus as high status fashion royal. Sharing the limelight and Meghan having a different take on how to dress for the same event has maybe given her a bit of breathing room fashionwise.

The Cambridges look like they are trying to find a British version of the young, continental Royals who often manage to look Regal while also branching out a bit. As has been discussed on one of these threads in the past weeks/months there is a "Young Royal" look in Britain that can be somewhat frumpy, but has worked as a uniform. For example I actually love a lot of Catherine's coat dresses but they are clearly her safe go-to. Perhaps having Meghan pushing the boat out fashion wise gives Catherine public permission to try some alternative looks which still have a level of formality. She doesn't need to copy Meghan as their styles are different but wearing more trousers as separates or suits would surely be a relief for her and help to be more relaxed in public. Having a coat dress, soaring heels and possibly a fascinator or headband is just more prissy and bound to be less of a relaxing look. You are almost certainly going to be the only woman in a 50 mile radius wearing such a get-up while doing walkabouts for example. No worries about bending and your skirt flying up etc. in trews.

Both William and Kate seemed to have changed since Kate returning from maternity leave. The seem to be stepping up to more engagements and be more comfortable and confident when out and about. I'm not sure it's linked to Meghan to be honest. I think they have accepted that it is time to step forward from the more private family life (a relative term I know) and into the more public royal role. I think it's part of the whole Royal families, move for the queen to start stepping back and the others to pick up the slack.
