Would anyone be interested in a Random Royal of the Day? Quite often this thread has sent me down a Wikipedia hole and I've discovered all sorts of royals I'd never heard of, who lived lives of scandal and intrigue!

🙋🏼‍♀️ To random Royal of the day, good idea Queen

Alwayscheerful · 03/12/2018 12:18

Random Royal of the Day sounds fab. Smile

OlennasWimple · 03/12/2018 12:55

Just occasionally I fantasise about a life whereby the children are simply presented to me - fed, clean and ready to spend a couple of quality hours together - then whisked away when we enter the Witching Hour and they start to get grotty. I would then waft upstairs and place a light kiss on the forehead of my sleeping children and retire to the library for a whisky and a long night reading in front of the fire.

Essentially, an upper class, Victorian husband Smile

Not all the time - but sometimes it must be lovely to have numerous full time nannies to help with the grunt work of child rearing

AhoyDelBoy · 03/12/2018 13:12

OlennasWimple oh that does sound lovely Grin

AhoyDelBoy · 03/12/2018 13:12

Edited to add: but I would miss my sweet girl too much Halo

Sverre-Magnus (who I'll forever think of as the Dabbing Prince) has a real look of Mette-Marit whereas Ingrid is more like Haakon.

Oh yes please to random royal.

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/12/2018 14:27

My Random Royal of the Day is Lennart Bernadotte, who was born a prince of Sweden (his grandfather was Gustaf V, the current king's great-grandfather) but gave up his title when he made a morgantic marriage in the 1930s.

Gardening was his great passion. Harmless enough, I hear you say, but he caused quite the scandal when he left his (presumably long-suffering) wife in the 70s for a woman 35 years his junior (who was younger than all his 4 children) and proceeded to have 5 more children with her! There was an age gap of almost 50 years between his oldest and youngest children. The count only died in 2004 at the age of 95.

His son must've been a chip off the old block as he's currently on wife number SEVEN!

Gosh CurlyWurlyTwirly Princess Ingrid Alexandra is stunning!

SenecaFalls · 03/12/2018 15:34

good article in the Irish Independant. It implies the whispers are coming from courtiers as a warning to Meghan "we've been through diva shit before, we won't take it from someone who won't even be bloody Queen"

I read that as well. They don't want another superstar in the royal family.

Surely there are kinder ways of going about sending that message, even if it is defensible, than snidely and publicly attacking her, especially many months later and while she is pregnant.

Haworthia · 03/12/2018 15:35

Sverre-Magnus (very pleasing name, but not as pleasing as Mette-Marit) looks like he’s still wearing glasses from the children’s section and needs to upgrade to larger frames Grin

owlshooting · 03/12/2018 16:58

If K and W ARE going to be spending Christmas at Sandringham, why is Carole mentioning that the children will all have their own christmas trees in their rooms at her house, and how lovely it will be for the whole family to be together? It's very puzzling.I don't think anyone really knows. Usually they alternate between families and since they were at Sandringham last year, I imagine they will be with the Middletons this year. Next year Meghan will have a baby so it would make more sense for them to do Sandringham next year, especially since Pippa is a new mother.

Prince Sverre Magnus of Norway is 13 today

Fascinating photo; I couldn't believe he's only 13 Shock

Then again, he has one of those faces that'll probably look just the same at 40 ...

Ingrid Alexandra has the look of Kate. Different eyes but similar smile and dimples. Bearing in mind she’s only 15 years old, she’s going to be stunning as a grown woman.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 03/12/2018 19:43

Wow, she’s actually only 14 years old. Here she is showing William & Kate round during she is so confident. ( commentary in Norwegian!)

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 03/12/2018 19:50

Lovely photo montage of Haakon & Mette-Marit and their beautiful family

Pupsiecola · 03/12/2018 20:11

I was just thinking yesterday that MM's family have been quiet for an awfully long time. But I see her half-sister has recently tweeted. I don't follow her.

SenecaFalls · 03/12/2018 20:19

Ingrid Alexandra has the look of Kate.

Much more the look of Mette-Marit, I think.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 03/12/2018 20:22

It’s in French if anyone is feeling adventurous but from Princess Grace to Charlene

Parker231 · 03/12/2018 20:39

This is worth watching - very relaxed with the interviewer. Can’t see anyone in the UK RF being this laid back.
