Currently obsessed(!) with CK Obsession! It's an oldie but a goodie! Anyone else revisiting older perfumes?

@Whatsallthisaboutthen? I couldn't agree more. Everything modern smells the same with very few exceptions.

I've been wearing lots of 4160 Tuesdays, Le Jardin Retrouve and Lanvin Arpege lately, none of which are from my local House of Fraser smellalike department.

I think there's a difference between old perfumes that are classics/were developed years ago, and old perfumes that you used to wear in the past. The latter can be tricky, as smells are so evocative. And tastes change/mature - I can't even LOOK at a bottle of Estee Lauder Knowing or Givenchy Ysatis, although I loved them at the time. And I became completely anosmic to L'Eau D'Issy Miyake because I wore it to death - all I can smell now is a faint ammonia pong.

But old perfumes i.e. classics are still around because they stand the test of time.

Just to make you jealous I still have two bottles of Gucci Envy jealously guarded, and used on special occasions - though funnily enough, I only discovered it after it was discontinued (have contacts in the business ). Gorgeous stuff.

My first perfume, one my mum bought me for Christmas when I was 16, was I think from Boots own brand and just lemon I think. It was lovely, so refreshing. I wish they still made it.

Also my mum used to only wear L'aire du temps, I used to sneak in and pinch a little sometimes, I can almost smell it now Smile

YSL Rive Gauche - first French perfume I ever had in the 80's and I still love it.
