Old perfumes I'm loving!

Currently obsessed(!) with CK Obsession! It's an oldie but a goodie! Anyone else revisiting older perfumes?

I bought the original Ghost perfume again recently and can't believe how much I still love it! Worn it most days since.

I used to wear Aqua di Gio years ago. It's been discontinued but I bought a dupe from PP and am not keen. I think I've outgrown that one!!

I used to wear Angel but although I could never go back to wearing the original one I do love Angel Muse which is darker and just gorgeous for the depths of winter.

I used to love White Linen. Also Miss Dior. Still like Miss Dior but not White Linen.

Some of the older perfumes by Guerlain are great. I’m a huge fan of Mitsuko and Naheema. These are “real” perfumes. I’ve just bought DH a Guerlain eau de toilette that was first sold in 1897. Fabulous.

FabulousTomatoes · 08/11/2018 17:41

Ah I’ve found my people!
The oldies are definitely the goodies.
Over the last decade I’ve gone back through Tresor, Samsara, Dune, Paris, Eternity and Chopard’s Casmir.
My thirteen year old dad has nearly finished her bottle of Exclamation (doesn’t smell quite the same these days though).
I’ve been wearing Coco since I was eighteen (twenty five years ago 😳).
I really want to smell New West by Aramis and Narcisse by Chloe again.

FabulousTomatoes · 08/11/2018 17:41

Dd not dad! 😂

FabulousTomatoes · 08/11/2018 17:42

Oh and I would LOVE a bottle of Rochas’s Byzance 💙

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/11/2018 17:43

I love Amarige and Samara and still buy both.

starburst1979 · 08/11/2018 17:44

My mam wore one and I'd love to know if you ladies have any idea what it was. The bottle was black but the actual perfume was a pink creamy lotion. Wasn't a spray bottle. It had a stick attached to the lid that you applied it with. Any ideas?

Currently rocking a huge fug of Knowing.

3littlerabbits · 08/11/2018 17:49

Nina Ricci premiere jour was my all time favourite. I got a bottle from amazon (I think) recently, but it’s just not the same

stillstanding51 · 08/11/2018 17:50

Used to love Chique by Yardley, and Cachet? Oh and another favourite, Blaszè (can’t remember how it was spelt) then when I had some money, CK Eternity which to me then was very expensive and posh! 😂
Now wear Dkny Woman which I think is also an oldie
I think all the latest new releases smell so similar to each other, can’t find anything I like 😕

FabulousTomatoes · 08/11/2018 17:58

Stillstanding, me neither. Perfume has gone the way of supermarket wine: generic, unadventurous and cheap-smelling.

Nettletheelf · 08/11/2018 18:14

HAHAHAHAHA at 13 year old dad!

AdultHumanFemale · 08/11/2018 18:26

I still love Obsession and store my vintage issue cool and dark, just to keep it going. I've worn it, but very subtly (apply at small of back under clothes) for 25 years.
DKNY Black Cashmere isn't quite as old, but still an oldish favourite.

nandaandm · 08/11/2018 18:44

My son asked what I wanted for my birthday and I asked for Amarige or Samsara. He got me both! I really love the new Samsara bottle too.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 08/11/2018 19:25

I loved l'air du temps and shalimar...

Time40 · 08/11/2018 19:28

@starburst1979, I was going to say it was Coty L'Aimant, in a cream form (because that's the one I remember), but I've just looked it up, and Coty did various different scents in those little black bottles. Look up "vintage Coty creamy skin perfume" and you'll find them all. It looks like the L'Aimant version kept going until quite recently.

starburst1979 · 08/11/2018 19:29

@time40 thank you so much. Off to Google x

Hmmalittlefishy · 08/11/2018 19:32

I miss Tommy girl - not sure if they still do it but it just reminds me of good times in my life
Body shop dewberry!!
Clinique simply

visitorthedog · 08/11/2018 19:33

I miss XS Pour Elle - it was cheap but smelled like sunshine.

MiaowMix · 08/11/2018 19:34

Clinique Wrappings, always (RIP 😭)
Used to like first by Van Cleef & Arpels too, felt tres sophis wearing that in my twenties!

visitorthedog · 08/11/2018 19:42

@Miaowmix - you can still buy it from Harrods, they do mail delivery!

OneStepMoreFun · 08/11/2018 19:45

I wish they still made Eau de Givenchy and Eau de Gucci like it smelled in 1980s - gorgeous.

simbobs · 08/11/2018 19:53

My mil bought me some L'Air du Temps a couple of years ago and I wear it, though I didn't back in the day. I like its subtle powderiness when I want a fragrance that doesn't enter the room ahead of me. It can be hard to go back to a perfume that belongs to another time. I loved Loulou when it first came out, now can't stand it. My all time fave is Woman III by Jil Sander which most people have not heard of. Not a brand sold everywhere and I first met it overseas. I still have a bit but can't get it now.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 08/11/2018 20:22

Wrappings is still available in most places but it's seasonal- it's a Christmas product so should be in bigger stores right now.
I have one of those navy plastic canister Eau de Gucci's.
Please all of you come and join us on the perfumista chat thread! We're ever so friendly (and smell lovely...especially me because I'm invariably in one of the "old" perfumes mentioned on this thread!)

MiaowMix · 08/11/2018 20:27

@visitorthedog and @bookmeonthesudexpress thank you both! I had no idea.
Also yes to eau de givenchy 👌🏼
