That’s more like it! Nice outfit. So if William is King by about 50 would that mean Charles dying in his early eighties? I’m guessing he was 33 or 34 when he was born?

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 27/10/2018 06:41

Great outfit.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/10/2018 06:42

@LadyCassandra is he Gabriella Windsor's fiancé?

That red is a good colour on Meghan. Nice low-key outfit that's appropriate for the occasion.

@AhoyDelBoy

Yes William was born within 11 months of their marriage.
Diana was still just 20. Looking back, she was someone else who went through a similar whirlwind to Meghan.

Teenage nursery assistant to royal fiancée; bride and mother to be within 12 months.
I think the engagement was announced in the February, married in July, her pregnancy was announced in the November and she had William in the June.

Thank goodness I have found you all!

Very good shade of red for Meghan.

AhoyDelBoy · 27/10/2018 07:05

Wow Curly that was quite a whirlwind for a very, very young Diana! Twenty is just so young IMO.

AhoyDelBoy · 27/10/2018 07:08

I think that would have been harder for Diana being so young. At least Meghan has a lot of life experience behind her being in her late thirties and is probably better able to cope. I know for me personally I’m a different person now at nearly 34 than I was at 20.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/10/2018 07:10

Comparisons have been made with Diana on other threads ("haven't the royals learned anything since Diana?" etc) but other than the slightly whirlwind aspect of H&M's romance, I don't see there's any similarity.

Not only was Diana young but she'd been incredibly sheltered too. It's not like she'd been to university and lived in digs and had a couple of boyfriends. She more or less went from the schoolroom to the royal family!

No Queen nor do I, mostly on account of Meghan’s age though. I’m sure it would be a different matter if Harry’s bride was 12-13 years his junior!

AhoyDelBoy · 27/10/2018 07:18

I don’t think what happened with PC and Di eg. large age gap after short courtship would happen now days. I really feel for Diana reading a lot of this tbh. I remember the press labelling Kate ‘Waity Katie’ pre engagement (as I’m sure you all do). No wonder William waited so long (which was what only about 8-10 years anyway, they still married in their late twenties). I’m sure Kate didn’t want to rush into marriage either.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/10/2018 07:26

I mean whirlwind in terms of timescale, is similar to Meghan.
If you compare how long William took to propose to Kate; I think it is comparable

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/10/2018 07:31

But agreed; Diana had zero life experience, she was literally a virgin; apparently that was really important. Read Barbara Cartland novels ( her step grandmother).
The emotional leaps she did make in those 16 years as PoW are quite incredible when you see where she started from.

user1457017537 · 27/10/2018 07:38

With regard to Charles’s forthcoming biography all I can say is why? Why keep going over it, what possible outcome is there, what will be gained. PC can’t win, he will be seen as besmirching Diana’s name.

Whatever the circumstances surrounding their marriage, I am sure they both loved William and Harry. The past is a different country.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/10/2018 07:40

H&M we're together how long? A year to 18 months before they got engaged? That's still she's compared to D&C who'd only met a handful of times before he proposed! Her grandmother and the Queen Mum were old friends and apparently behind pushing them together.

That outfit is great - she looks really relaxed and happy.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/10/2018 07:47

Better picture of Meghan.
I actually quite like her shoes, look a bit sturdier & comfier.

I am expressing myself badly in terms of whirlwind.
I was referring —probably in my head— to the speed at which Diana’s & Meghan’s lives changed dramatically from when they came into the public eye as royal fiancée not the speed of their actual relationship.

Harry’s & Meghan’s seems an acceptable speed for people with life experience who are fully formed adults. Sadly not the case for Diana; and I suspect maturity wise for Charles.

Meghan'd outfit is great. Love the red top

thatone · 27/10/2018 07:51

I suppose they had to get married fairly sharpish if they wanted to start a family.

Looking at them together it projects a much better image when they are not clutching each other. I guess they seem happier because it is an event that they feel strongly about.

Paradyning · 27/10/2018 07:51

Live the red top. Have her shoes got some strange pointy thing on the sole of the toes?

Paradyning · 27/10/2018 07:52

*love!

AhoyDelBoy · 27/10/2018 07:53

I like the rust colour on Meghan.
