Meghan chose a songbird with wings unfolded to represent herself on her coat of arms and now we have a flock of black and white birds taking flight on a beautiful dress ... a nod towards her biracial identity?

... Or maybe she just liked the dress and I'm reading too much into it!

itswinetime · 26/10/2018 16:06

Love the gown great shape her brilliant and I like the shoes too with bow big fan of that. Agree though the have gone a bit ott on the bronzer highlighter these last few days not sure if they are trying to giver the healthy glow or if her colouring has changed.

Her family are just awful. They are out to use her st any opportunity I think saying he wants a boy to be called Thomas and legal rights of access please his on another planet. It's just for attention and money probably! I wish they would give her a break!

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/10/2018 16:15

The Mad About Meghan link I posted earlier today has now been update to include some information about the wedding dress exhibition at Windsor.

Apparently it features audio commentary from H&M and they go into detail about how they planned their day and how she had a very specific wedding dress style in mind.

The most interesting bit is how they met with HM and were presented with a selection of tiaras to choose from! Wouldn't that be be amazing??

If I had access to dresses like the Oscar de la Renta, I would wear them as much as possible and not care about being overdressed - it's gorgeous

SenecaFalls · 26/10/2018 16:31

Maybe we can ask HQ for a tiara icon

There is this. Crown
Created for Will and Kate's wedding or maybe the Diamond Jubilee.

Just put brackets around the word crown.

I very much doubt that MM is paying for these outfits given the worldwide publicity the designers are receiving. Her stylist will be in negotiation with designers and if not free will be heavily discounted and made for her.

user1457017537 · 26/10/2018 16:37

Re Tiaras although not real gems, wedding dress shops have a good selection. The late Paula Yates loved wearing tiaras!

megletthesecond · 26/10/2018 16:41

The black and white ODLR dress is wonderful 👍.

LimpyLampy · 26/10/2018 16:45

I’ve often wondered what do they do with the more ordinary clothes they wear. Not their jeans and Breton tops but the dresses they wear and are photographed in at events or wedding guests.

I know they recycle a small number of them but there must be thousands that we don’t see again.

They catalogue and keep the ‘good’ ones, the ‘moment in time’ ones but they simply can’t keep every other single item of clothing. They must pass it on to charity shops or women’s refuges though there can’t be many their clothes would fit? And charity shops might keep quiet in order to keep receiving cast offs but savvy shoppers would recognise some of the clothes and separating to hundreds of charity shops would be too time consuming.

Do they send them to third world countries/overseas I wonder? They are hardly going into the recycle clothing bins either.

NoParticularPattern · 26/10/2018 16:45

I’m now hoping then when I get old, grey and a bit batty that I’ll demand to wear my tiara to bed (which I’m getting for Christmas obvs) and drink large amounts of gin.

There’s a good chance that I’ll just end up with a gin habit instead though......

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/10/2018 16:49

Good point @LimpyLampy, what happens to all those clothes? Imagine how much HM has accumulated over the years! What's happened to her ballgowns from the 50s and 60s? Are they in storage or were they quietly given away years ago. She and Princess Margaret were very petite with tiny waists, and no one really has a figure like that anymore.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 26/10/2018 16:53

Queen I was hoping that slideshow would show more of her evening wear - some of that was stunning - and Princess Margaret's evening wardrobe was breathtaking. Has anyone seen that film "A Royal Night Out" about VE Day? It's absolute nonsense but quite fun.

Funny how she (the Queen) seemed to jump from young woman to middle aged in about a year.

Wouldn't it be great if the current Royal young women could raid those wardrobes now?

SenecaFalls · 26/10/2018 17:03

I've seen "A Royal Night Out" and yes, it was fun. I think most of the posters on this thread would enjoy it.

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/10/2018 17:04

@DontCallMeCharlotte I don't think her wardrobe would fit any of them! Kate and Meghan are very slim but don't have the tiny waist she did and the York sisters, although a more hourglass shape, are both bigger than HM was.

Thank you Seneca

It didn’t show up in my icons so I’ll try it myself (crown)

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 26/10/2018 17:05

Nope

I’ll try

I love the O de la R dress! Another departure for her, but she really suits a full skirt.
The Queen actually has legal rights over the Sussex child, they don't have complete authority. Markle would need to fight HM in the courts for access, and good luck with that!

SenecaFalls · 26/10/2018 17:08

It was one of those that was seasonal so doesn't show up on the list. But supposedly, the icons never go away as long as you can remember what goes in the brackets.

FATEdestiny · 26/10/2018 17:13

Seeing photos of The Quuen as a child had me pondering a theoretical succession question.

Imagine the Queen has passed away and Charles is King. Then an accident happened and William died young. What would happen if Charles died while George was still a young child?

CoachBombay · 26/10/2018 17:15

(crown)

I really want one...lol

I think some outfits are kept and worn again, but I suppose their stylists/dressers get rid of the stuff cluttering up dressing rooms. Many major outfits like ball gowns go on auctions and into storage though. Many are displayed in museums and exhibitions. So I suppose it's a bit of everything maybe?

CoachBombay · 26/10/2018 17:16

(Crown)

Please work lol

CoachBombay · 26/10/2018 17:17

Bollocks 😩 never mind, I'll always be a pleb lol

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 26/10/2018 17:19

I succeeded with [ ]

George would be king but there would be a regency - not sure who’d be regent tho. Kate & Henry I would imagine.

eddiemairswife · 26/10/2018 17:22

I think Harry would be Regent until George was 18.
