Princess Eugenie's wedding: The sartorial highs and lows. Plus Fergie's back, bitches!

Following on from the general royal style thread, which is fast filling up, here's one just to discuss today's outfits.

My predictions

I’m really hoping Fergie will look fabulous - <a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=goo.gl/images/Ex3BbE" target="_blank">teal or <a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=goo.gl/images/oiAQaV" target="_blank">forest green look good on her.

After Kate's recent trip to the V&A, I’m hoping for something a bit more adventurous than a pale blue or yellow coat dress. Sophie in blue or pink Wickstead, Meghan in navy and/or boat-neck. She and Victoria Beckham may end up in similar outfits.

The Queen in fuchsia, neon green or yellow, Ladies Sarah and Helen in something elegant and understated, Karen Spencer in a dress that’s spectacular but so tight she can’t breathe.

And of course Princess Anne in a dress she's owned since 1986 that still fits her perfectly!

The Great Gatsby reading has to be the most inappropriate choice of wedding reading ever - did Eugenie actually understand what the book was about?

Why do people think Kate and Harry don't talk? I always thought they got on well?

I must be blind as a bat as I have repeatedly looked for any scars on Eugenie's back and even on close ups on her back I cannot see a single scar.

Carriage is just coming round outside and the Busby line up ready on the steps now.

Jack looks like he wants to throw up! I expect it’s quite hot under the lights. The official speakers have been dire, no warmth or excitement in their voices, but I though Beatrice spoke very well.

I think Jack's ill. Flu or something. That's why he's not wearing his contacts.

@Oogle I've certainly seen them chat plenty at various events over the years. But everyone tends to be a bit more subdued in a church.

I'm no Royalist, but I'm not a Republican either .. I like the history and the pageantry but apart from that have no strong feelings one way or the other.

I had no interest in this wedding but this thread sparked my curiosity so I just had a quick look at a video on the Grauniad website.

Fair play to the bride - she looks absolutely gorgeous.

Don't know about any of the other outfits as it only showed a bit of her arriving at the church, but she has nailed it with that dress.

Lillian It does suggest she didn't finish it!

@BertrandRussell Jack was wearing glasses before Eugenie entered the church. Not sure why he took them off.

God I love this hymn. Had it at my wedding and it was my beloved grandma's favourite.

just caught the video of Eugenie going up the steps - with a great big grin, lovely!

not a bad dress for a bridal gown. The huge lump of material on the arse is never a good look (why do they add this?) and the sleeves don't fit and are too long, but otherwise a grown up outfit that looks pretty from the front at least. Even if she did nearly blow away... looks like she is wearing usable shoes, having seen Meghan nearly go A over T on the same steps!

The scar is literally just a very thin line down the centre of her back. It lines up perfectly with the v dip in the dress.

Queen weren't the Kingdom Choir also a tv show thing? Both of them used their performances at the wedding to flog albums a week or so later, v tacky. It's not like they didn't have a wealth of incredible talent to go to so seemed a little lazy

Great hymn choice

Just taken a quick look at the photos of guests on the BBC news site. Cara Delevingne looks like she's dressed for halloween. Pixie Geldof looks like she's slung a t-shirt or one of those ruched Hush skirts over her shoulder.

Gatsby was an odd choice.
But they're all wearing fabulous clothes so I'll let them off.

@frugalkitty my mother in law insisted on some hymn that nobody had heard of. She asked if we could play it as a nod to her and it being her favourite. No-one sang along to it 🙄

What was the name of that hymn just sung?
