They were at Versailles today. Edward was playing tennis again.

Yes I think he was @MissLingoss. She was quite a young grandmother so would've been able to do a lot with him. And he and Anne probably spent more time with her than their parents in their early years, especially after their mother became queen.

Queen of the World is on YouTube now.

I think the Cambridge’s and the Sussex’s are really doing the very minimum in public engagements considering their position in the Royal family.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/10/2018 21:55

I guess they'll do more once Charles becomes king and they're children of the monarch rather than grandchildren. At least Harry looks happy to be there when he does engagements, William always seems like he's above it all.

I think the Cambridge’s and the Sussex’s are really doing the very minimum in public engagements considering their position in the Royal family.

The Duke of Cambridge is just back from a week long official visit to Namibia, Tanzania and Kenya.

The Duke of Sussex had a meeting relating to his charity Sentebale on Friday.

The Sussexes have their Commonwealth trip coming up. There's probably quite a lot of planning for that.

Not everything they do makes it into the gossip mags.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 01/10/2018 23:12

Come back to lots of fun gossip today!

Theres been some continental royal wedding but I can't say I care for the bride's dress

I’m feeling particularly critical today. The brides dress looked like she found it in a charity shop, the completely unmatching veil looks like it came from the new curtain roll at Dunelm Mill and the tiara came from Clare’s Accessories. Is the bride actually wearing any make up?

And the groom; is supposed to be from New York. He should sue his dentist. Those yellow teeth look like he’s been smoking 20 a day since he was 14.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 01/10/2018 23:12

Omg Sophie loves that fugly droopy coat. Quick someone spill red wine on it. Emilia Wickstead must be having some kind of creative crisis to design that snakeskin meh dress. Edward needs to get Prince Charles tailor on speed dial

However our Sophie redeemed herself with her evening outfit. Edward; not so much.

Phew! Got all that off my chest. Grin

Right, I am going to do a little homage to that underrated Style icon; The Prince of Wales.
Impeccably cut suits, and all the thought out details like watch chain; cuff links. Everyone was looking at Camilla on their wedding day, but he looks great in a morning coat.

Another snazzy dresser.
I ha. To add that Wallis in Mainbocher on her wedding day was the epitome of chic

I think Charles and Camilla both looked great on their wedding day. More power and happiness to them, I say.

user1457017537 · 02/10/2018 01:38

Yes but if you take their engagements over a year it doesn’t add up to much. I don’t think one meeting on a Friday cuts it really.
They also have an office and staff arranging every aspect of their forthcoming trip. I just don’t think the Sussex’s or Cambridge’s have been up to much. I know about the new baby and the marriage but lots of other people have done that and worked

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/10/2018 06:14

Oh yes, Wallis may have had her faults but being unstylish was not one of them. Bit unlucky for the Queen Mum to have her and the glamorous Princess Marina as SiLs! Kitty Kelley, in a particularly bitchy passage, said part of the reason the QM detested Wallis was because she would've looked elegant in a garbage bag whilst even couture looked like "slip covers on a fire hydrant" on the QM!

And I agree that Charles is underrated when it comes to style. His suits are all ££££ but the cut and fit can't be faulted. Edward's Burton job looks at least 2 sizes too big for him - maybe he borrows it from Andrew! He's a perfectly pleasant-looking man - I'm sure he could do better sartorially!

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 02/10/2018 06:31

I love this shade of green Mathilde of Belgium is wearing - it would look fantastic on Meghan or Kate, and the dress is one I could see on either of them. But there's no shame in going up a size - it looks uncomfortably snug.

Kate is back on royal duties today - some sort of outdoorsy thing with kids? So skinny jeans, Breton and Barbour with hair in a ponytail?

I like Sophie’s snake print dress under her droopy coat in that photo above.

Agree Charles is always impeccably dressed. I have a real thing for a well cut suit. Years ago I was in court (for work!) and couldn’t take my eyes off the QC’s suit - they weren’t gowned up. It was dark brown wool with a slight fleck to it and had obviously been tailored for him. It was so beautiful it was downright distracting Grin

Charles’ suits are always immaculate and fit perfectly and he looks comfortable in them. Even if you have shitloads of money to throw at it, not all men wear suits well.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/10/2018 06:40

Some men are born to wear suits and Charles is one of them. Can't quite see him in jeans and tshirt, can you? Grin

And how many of those people can reasonably be expected to still be working into their 80s and 90s, as William and Kate are likely to be?

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/10/2018 06:47

I think at the moment it's fair enough that Edward and Sophie are doing more engagements as he's the son of the monarch. But he's not getting younger and neither are the Kents and Gloucesters etc, so I can see William and Harry taking on more in the future.

Certainly once Charles becomes king and William is PoW he'll have to do a lot more. But that day could still be 10 years away, given HM's longevity!

Prince Edward should wear something like Brioni. Those off the peg double breasted suits do him no favours whatsoever.

I don’t understand how someone like Prince Philip who was so good looking and stylish when young produced 3 out of 4 quite dowdy children. That Hanoverian & strathmore blood has a lot to answer for...

There was a time when Charles was in his 20s and not too bad looking...

Speaking of Charles. They’ve cast the actor to play him in the Crown. They’ve got the ears right.

@CurlyWurlyTwirly I've wondered the same, and the Queen was so pretty as a young woman too. Andrew was good-looking in his youth but good looks never seem to last very long in that family - look at poor William!

I’m not sure about the bottle green, I think it would look a bit fresher in Emerald green on Megs or Kate; being brunette.
I suspect that Mathilde would look quite slim and possibly a bit curved in rl. She looks pretty tall too; same height as her husband; when in heels. I think the dress would be fine if she invested in some shape wear.
Kate & Meghan are determined freaks of nature figure wise. Kate’s apparently really into planks and of course we all know about the yoga. ( no wonder Harry can’t keep his hands off her....)

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/10/2018 07:26

Charles has never been handsome like his father (though I think he should've kept the beard) but he and Edward have always looked pleasant. Andrew looks very disagreeable and, judging from what those who've met him say, looks are NOT deceiving in his case!
