@GreyPJs Yes, I think Fergie was just trying to make a quick getaway without ignoring a cheeky little blighter small child!

When do H&M land in Oz? Looks like we'll be ready for a new thread by then.

I think we’ll be ready for a new thread by this afternoon @Queen!
H&M don’t get to Oz till Tuesday

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 14/10/2018 11:07

This thread is making me go all gaga for tiaras. If anyone else is the same, found this slideshow of royal wedding tiaras.

Also gone down a bit of a rabbit hole googling Melissa Percy this morning - she looked absolutely beautiful on her wedding day, and the Percy tiara was gorgeous!

Before reading about the Spencer tiara because of these threads, I didn't realise aristocratic families also had their own tiaras, though it makes sense of course. I forget the scale of money!

I'm very sad. I wore a tiara on my wedding day and 15 years later I still use it as a hair band when putting on/taking off makeup. I am a princess everyday! 👑 👸

SeaRabbit · 14/10/2018 11:15

It'snice I have always had a thing about tiaras, and now have an embarrassingly wide knowledge about the jewellery of the royal families of Europe, and also various aristocrats, through following this blog:

I still have my wedding tiara, even though the marriage ended 10 years ago!

I think the composition of the official photos is thrown off because the Queen and Philip are sitting down. They couldn't be at the back, and it would have looked even odder to have them at the end.

On one of those 'behind the scenes' tv shows, William and Harry said the D of E hates official photo shoots and barely gives the photographer time to get off a few shots before he's off, so I don't suppose there was much time to set it up and get the photos.

Pupsiecola · 14/10/2018 11:27

The evening dress is absolutely stunning.

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/10/2018 11:30

@MissLingoss I think the Queen and DoE are fine, but seems weird that the bride's parents are so far away and the groom's are right next to him. Plenty of room for them to be near her with Beatrice in the end, and the little ones in front of the Queen. But maybe that's not allowed!

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 14/10/2018 11:31

They haven't wasted time getting the official shots out either - think with William and Harry they waited a week or so. Seems to all smack of wanting to go one better!!

BrightonGallery7 · 14/10/2018 11:48

Does it?

BrightonGallery7 · 14/10/2018 11:49

I think that’s a bit of a leap, frankly. Hmm

Cornwall73 · 14/10/2018 12:13

Thanks searabbit, great website about royal jewellery!

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 14/10/2018 12:13

Thank you @SeaRabbit! Will have a look.

I think that's lovely @VanillaSugary, you carry on!

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 14/10/2018 12:21

Have also being wondering - when the brides borrow a tiara, do you think they get a good old rummage and choose what they want, or are they suggested one - or perhaps can choose from an edited selection? Imagine if you're just let loose!

Cornwall73 · 14/10/2018 12:25

My thoughts exactly do they choose or do they get a short list of potentials? I would love a rummage through the jewellery vaults. Bet they have it all wonderfully catalouged.

EmGee · 14/10/2018 12:27

Totally going off piste here, but what do you think the 'unreasonable behaviour' was cited in Melissa and the Van Straub's divorce. I'm very nosy I know

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/10/2018 12:28

It couldn't have been that one of them was cheating, as wouldn't that have been cited as 'adultery'?

OP posts:
Jackietheduck · 14/10/2018 12:33

Bet they have it all wonderfully catalogued

There was a historian on this thread who had access to the palace and what and how they store some of the clothes worn for significant events. I’m sure she knew about the jewellery too. Can anyone remember? She wrote very interesting factual posts.

Agree about Teddy Williams. Fergie was quite obviously trying to go to wave off Eugenie and needed to put an end to being shouted at in public by that little girl. Though imo Americans seem to speak very loudly so the child might not have seen it as shouting.

I was in a coffee shop recently and three American students sat at a table nearby. They were incredibly loud with projecting voices, so much so that I got up and moved tables. I could still hear them at the other end of the coffee shop!

I thought there were no fault divorces nowadays

GrumbleBumble · 14/10/2018 12:48

User there are no fault divorces but they take longer - you have to be separated for X amount of time. Unreasonable behaviour is often used even when infidelity is the grounds but people want to avoid either finger pointing or mud slinging.

user1457017537 · 14/10/2018 12:50

Ok thank you I didn’t know!

YearOfYouRemember · 14/10/2018 13:02

I'm sure Sarah said yes to being asked if she was a Princess for the sake of the young child asking.

beanaseireann · 14/10/2018 14:03

I thought it odd that Theodora didn't know who Fergie was as I presumed Fergie would have been at frock fittings / meet ups for the lit glues etc.
But what do I know.
I've never been mother of the bride or moved in royal circles Smile

On another note I've got a message from my internet provider that I've used X amount and am nearing my limit of free internet and will be charged extra (humongously) soon.
I blame you lot and Eugenie Grin
