More details of the wedding have been released which includes a hint about the colour scheme.

"Princess Eugenie of York and Mr Brooksbank have asked London based cake designer Sophie Cabot to make their wedding cake.

The red velvet and chocolate cake will be a traditional cake, with a modern feel. It will incorporate the rich colours of autumn in its design and will be covered with detailed sugar work including ivy."

Rich colours of autumn

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/10/2018 08:47

The cake sounds good, that's for sure! Still no official word from the Palace on bridesmaids and pages? I've only read the Express report but they don't link to anything official, just say "a source", which often translates as "we made it up"!

Speaking of wedding cakes, H&M's lemon and elderflower one sounded delicious! Very summery.

Good choice by Eug for an autumnal cake though.

Well, that update shows that this wedding is all about Andrew, doesn't it Hmm

BlingLoving · 07/10/2018 09:07

I love a wedding. But I do feel they are trying too bloody hard. I follow the royal family and would attend the wedding of my worst enemy if asked, and even I am bored and irritated with this one. Just get bloody married. It needs some pomp because queen and other senior members of family will be there but they really seem to think they are on the frontlines of royal events. And they just aren't.

I remember reading somewhere that the queen is very close to Eugenie and Beatrice and protective of them. So maybe within the family they enjoy some extra status. But for us on the outside they are just regular people with a royal connection.

I will watch wedding and enjoy looking at all the clothes etc, but really done feel all the extras are necessary - procession, military shows, individualized prayer? It's silly. And I worry the procession will be Trump-like.embarassing when no one actually turns up!!!

Letizia and Felipe are in France this weekend. I love the colour and cut of her dress. I'm normally not a fan of embellishments but that flower elevates it beyond being plain. Brigitte Macron looks very chic too.

I'm not sure about that big puff sleeve. I usually like Leti's style. Like Rana and Meghan, she looks great in a trouser suit and skirt and blouse. She never looks too fussy, but she likes to mix it up a bit. Usually great, but I'm not keen on this one.

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/10/2018 10:54

I could see Meghan in that dress too, though maybe with plain sleeves instead. The colour would look divine on her.

I love that dress but can't work out what it's for - the exhibition or the dinner? Not sure so much shoulder for a exhibition would be my thing. But I like this because it's simple but still makes a statement. And let's face it, if you can't make a statement as a member of royalty then who can!?

Clionba · 07/10/2018 11:36

Brigitte's white dress is nice. Simple, not too clingy.

Clionba · 07/10/2018 12:03

Camilla won't be going to the wedding on Friday. No love lost between her and Fergie. I read that it all got a bit tense at Balmoral. Anyway, Cams has an other thing to go to.

ChicagoLil · 07/10/2018 12:16

ShockShockShockShockat Camilla!! I reckon she will be staying at home with Philip, drinking whisky and downing shots every time Fergie gets a close up.

Jackietheduck · 07/10/2018 13:39

No way. Is Camilla honestly going to shun the wedding?

owlshooting · 07/10/2018 13:44

Ooh! I wonder what happened then between Camilla and Eugenie?

Jackietheduck · 07/10/2018 13:44

Cake decorated with ivy? Bridesmaids must be dark green then?

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/10/2018 13:48

Ooh where'd you hear that @Clionba? I don't think Philip will shun it will he? No matter what his feelings are towards Fergie, it's still his granddaughter's wedding.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 07/10/2018 13:51

Ah it's in the Mirror. Apparently a long-standing engagement and not a snub. Sure, Jan...

OP posts:
Jackietheduck · 07/10/2018 13:52

Or has Fergie never forgiven Camilla for upsetting Diana? For appearance’s sake, I thought the RF all just put on the united front despite their personal feelings. William included.

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/10/2018 13:55

Good point @Jackietheduck. I mean, Camilla seems nice enough but she can't really get on a high horse with Fergie considering how she and Charles behaved towards Diana. People in glass houses and all that!

Are bridesmaids' dresses usually matched to the cake? Dark green would look nice on Beatrice though.

OP posts:
Jackietheduck · 07/10/2018 14:13

I’ve been at weddings where the cake has a ribbon around it that matches the dresses.

I’m clutching at straws saying they might be in dark green though. I really have no idea.

Clionba · 07/10/2018 14:30

Camilla is citing a previous engagement, which the family "understand". However, some say that Fergie has become emboldened by her recently revived status as Mother of the Blood Princess Bride. She was very challenging and accusatory of how Diana was so badly treated. A bit of a confrontation occurred.

SenecaFalls · 07/10/2018 14:42

But when did this dust up happen? Because if Camilla's engagement that conflicts with the wedding was actually previously scheduled, then that would have been apparent at the time the wedding date was set.

Minimammoth · 07/10/2018 14:53

Bridesmaids are always in white at royal weddings as far as I can see. Colour would be lovely.

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/10/2018 15:13

You'd think @SenecaFalls!
