Could you please tell me what you think of this dress and whether it looks big on me? Many thanks!

Honestly? It absolutely swamps you. A fit and flare style would be much more flattering.

gilmoregal · 21/09/2018 01:25

Obviously don't know the occasion, budget or your style but something like this would be much more flattering on your lovely figure.

Imoldandlost · 21/09/2018 01:25

Sorry. Don’t like it on you.

IamAporcupine · 21/09/2018 01:32

Sad that's what I thought when I first tried - that it looked awful.
But I tried again tonight and thought it was not that bad (it looks even worse in the picture I think)

Oh well.

@gilmoregal - that dress is nice, but not my style at all (and waaay over my budget). thanks anyway!

I’m sorry I don’t like it on you. It looks like you are trying to hide your figure which you don’t need to do.

gilmoregal · 21/09/2018 01:37

What is your budget OP, and the occasion?

ItsalmostSummer · 21/09/2018 01:40

Sorry not much of a fan either.

LittleBirdBlues · 21/09/2018 01:41

I like the dress! And I think how it looks on you kind of depends on how it moves when you move if that makes sense?

Jackietheduck · 21/09/2018 01:41

The shape and colour don’t do anything for you. Unless you have very small breasts that shape is unflattering on most people.

IamAporcupine · 21/09/2018 01:42

@gilmoregal - max £50 I'd say, it's a sort of work party

OP posts:
delphguelph · 21/09/2018 01:45

It's OK, but too big.

IamAporcupine · 21/09/2018 01:52

@Jackietheduck - I have zero breast, 32A

@LittleBirdBlues - yay, at least one! Grin Yes I totally know what you mean, because that is exactly what I think too.
The dress has two layers - the bottom one with the print and then like a voile on top. I should have taken a better picture

Oddcat · 21/09/2018 01:52

It's a no from me , you look lovely and slim and this dress swamps you.

IamAporcupine · 21/09/2018 02:03

ohhh thank you gilmoregal!
I like the last two, but it will be hot so I'd prefer sleeveless. But I will keep those in mind, thanks!

This is a bit over budget but very nice and a bargain

I've had a look through the sales, hopefully I'm not too far off the mark

DeRigueurMortis · 21/09/2018 02:13

Sorry - it looks like a 1970's polyester nightie.

You look like you (probably?) have a nice figure but it's totally lost in that dress.

There are some knowledgeable posters on this forum, so give them something to work with.

What's the occasion? What's your budget?

What accessories do you have already it would need to work with (shoes/bag etc)

IamAporcupine · 21/09/2018 02:15

Oh the Phase Eight is lovely
(the first link does not work)

OP posts:
Monty27 · 21/09/2018 02:26

It's very girly which isn't my thing.
But I actually quite like it and judging by the picture I think you could wear it well. As it's not your normal thing your colleagues will be amazed and impressed I would say.
Get the bag and shoes right you're on a winner. It doesn't need accessories. That's what I like about it Smile

IamAporcupine · 21/09/2018 02:28

@DeRigueurMortis - oh come on, it might not look nice on me, but I think the dress is nice. I love the print. I really do not think that my picture helps!

See I love the dress underneath but it's the top layer that makes it a no from me.
Can the top layer come off?!

IamAporcupine · 21/09/2018 02:37

Oooh thanks Monty!
(hoe you are not being ironic!)

IamAporcupine · 21/09/2018 02:38

*hope

OP posts:
IamAporcupine · 21/09/2018 02:40

@yakari - nope, I too thought that, but it's all sewn at the side.
I also thought I could take the ruffles off?

OP posts:
DeRigueurMortis · 21/09/2018 02:43

Sorry OP - you asked for opinions and I gave mine.

I think it's a pretty awful dress - the underlay is better that the sheer fabric on top, but that's not necessarily a compliment, rather a lesser of two evils.

It looks like it wasn't designed, rather what the hell can we do to get rid of this excess sheer fabric (and yes, this does happen in the fashion industry).

As I said, it looks like you have a lovely figure hiding under there and I'm sure there are posters her who can suggest items in your budget that will look lovely on you.
