Had enough of seeing something repeated ad nauseam?

Want to offload when having tried to find good quality, stylish clothes you are instead met with a sea of shit? Epically garish, cheaply manufactured (without the corresponding price tag) and downright tired apply here.

I may be alone in having this need, but may I start by offering..... the rainbow jumper. How to take a perfectly useable piece of cloth and curse it to landfill in nanoseconds.....

-Exposed zips ruining perfectly nice dresses
-polyester anything

  • Cut outs. No one needs to see my love handles or belly button
  • cartoon character pyjamas
  • slogans.

Cold shoulder tops
Crappy quality fabrics
Sliders and socks - I don’t particularly want to look like a lifer in a US prison
Mules and chunky square heels give me hideous flashbacks to school discos in the late 90s
Rain jackets with a hood that has no peak and therefore let water flow all over your face - have the manufacturers not considered the possibility that people might want to wear their waterproof outdoor coat to, erm, hike in the rain?

LoniceraJaponica · 17/09/2018 17:09

I think cold shoulder tops win.

Bejazzled · 17/09/2018 17:16

Oh dear, I confess I love my rose gold pewter loafers from Boden - and I'm fond of block heels too (unable to wear narrow heels).

ZaZathecat · 17/09/2018 17:40

Ooh I like those boots Paul - I also have a bit of a thing for Jimmy Nail come to think of it...

TheProvincialLady · 17/09/2018 18:12

For men:

Ankle-skimming, too-tight suits in polyester.

You all look like fat spivs. Please desist.

HepzibahHumbug · 17/09/2018 19:53

This is SO much fun!

Now, what about socks with fucking star/diamonds/animal pics on them?

And back to an earlier post: cool T slogans:

DREG
AIBU or Do you smell?
I SEE what you're stepping in

Grin

Can I put in terrifying make up? I have now realised that I am properly middle aged because I find the current trend for massive eye brows and contouring baffling (and in some cases it looks a bit scary). Even when some women wear make up and look nice, there’s so much the face looks airbrushed - I end up wondering what they actually look like.

Sarcelle · 18/09/2018 12:06

A young girl has started at my office. Very attractive but has brown (like really brown) contouring lines on her face. This is the first time I have seen this outside of photos. It looks odd, really odd.

TheHalfBloodPrincess · 18/09/2018 12:10

Whenever I see contouring in the flesh I’m just put in mind of Michael Jackson. Can’t help humming smooth criminal.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 18/09/2018 13:00

Whenever I see contouring in the flesh I just see Adam Ant in the “Stand and Deliver” and “Prince Charming” videos @thehalfbloodprincess

DontCallMeCharlotte · 18/09/2018 13:48

I quite like an exposed zip

When I was that big you couldn't find that size (also the 28's). Plus finding anything on the sale rail was a miracle. The staff tell you they can't stock up quick enough as the bigger sizes fly off the racks. In the shops (and online if I'm honest) they have shit loads in the smaller sizes (lots of 14 and 16 whether full or sale price). I think they're trying to gain a more sophisticated image. I bet if they could get away with size 20 downwards they would. On a night out my friends mum was really taken with a top I had on. I told her where I got it and she physically recoiled. I told her they went down to a 14. 3 or 4 months later I went to meet my friend and her mum was stood at the bar wearing the top. It really suited her and I told her so. Her friend then " yeah it's lovely isn't it but she can't remember where she got it from." Meanwhile friends mum is stood there with her face burning and avoiding eye contact. The friend then says "I even tried to check the label but she cut it out." Grin

MakeYourOwnFuckingTea

Thanks for that. That's not great. I wonder if they'll still do them online. My mate will be devastated! Although, she's probably got enough clothes to last her a lifetime to be fair.

MakeYourOwnFuckingTea · 18/09/2018 15:08

No disappearing from there too. I mainly shop with Yours now. The quality is good and prices are a third cheaper. They also have loads of choice. I saw the other day they now go up to size 40?! on a few basic items. (Before anyone says it yes that's huge but unless you want us naked then us chunks have to wear something)

DontCallMeCharlotte · 18/09/2018 15:26

Ah, I think she uses Yours as well. So all is not lost!

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 18/09/2018 20:25

Today I offer vile jeans into the vault.

With thanks to Mango —Mingo—

Ooh! May I join even though I'm eying up that maroon v-pattern M&S jumper

double breasted suits. They are bloody everywhere - I have humungous tits and would look like a mr men in this (that's me in the middle pic)

This boucle nonsense. An oldie but i don't think it looks naice and I don't understand why it hasn't been consigned to a darkened room 101 long before now
