Had enough of seeing something repeated ad nauseam?

Want to offload when having tried to find good quality, stylish clothes you are instead met with a sea of shit? Epically garish, cheaply manufactured (without the corresponding price tag) and downright tired apply here.

I may be alone in having this need, but may I start by offering..... the rainbow jumper. How to take a perfectly useable piece of cloth and curse it to landfill in nanoseconds.....

I'm throwing in any item of clothing with pockets that sit right on the hip and add bulk. And why can't more women's jackets have inside pockets?

PurpleNailVarnish · 16/09/2018 23:41

It's true duckling84 finding nice clothes to wear is difficult and often pricey.
If I ever find the holy grail of stylish, suits me and inexpensive then invariably the garment doesn't wear well.
As there are few shops that sell nice clothes then often I find my colleagues work dress code is smart own the same items that I do, that includes pricier clothes because there are so few shops to choose from.

gillys · 17/09/2018 07:13

Cold shoulder tops.
Paper bag waist trousers
Polyester anything
Scratchy material
Skyscraper heels

No hope of me buying anything this season, I walk into shops, see how depressing it all looks, then leave !

Anything in that dreadful gold/mustard colour that looks like baby diarrhoea. I just don't understand why anyone would wear it.

Akire · 17/09/2018 08:06

What bugs me is that leggings have been popular for years and show no sign of stopping, yet trying find a top that covers your bum is holy grail! I’m only short and I struggle. It’s not asking that much surely. Let teens wear crop jumpers to bra if they want but let’s have some for rest of us.

claptomania · 17/09/2018 08:29

The stores can also shove their boxy tops. They’ve been around for YEARS. As per @akire, I need tops of a decent length, that loosely resemble a human shape.
Because as I am a human, I am not shaped like a box.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 17/09/2018 08:32

They didn’t shift them last time they tried but they’re having another punt ....... the fozzy bear coat..... in you go....

Like a skinned sausage on a hot day.

A phase I often utter when thinking about sartorial ‘goals’.

Round of applause for Whistles...

Inspired by a rummage in a jumble sale bin, may I present this great use of Aunty Nelly’s wool oddments.

A fine tribute to the spirit of mend and make do with a dash of Wings.

Oh God yes to the skinned sausage coloured trousers. And 'jumper me granny's knit me' styles.

Can I add flesh coloured leggings please? AKA 'I've nowt on me bottom half'.

If anyone’s interested in layering with that M&S hot pink leopard top, they now have the perfect jumper. It’s apparently a fur yarn and looks far, far better on the website than it does in reality

SleepingInYourFlowerbed · 17/09/2018 12:23

I was just in M&S and they have that jumper on display as a 'Must Have' Smiling. It's definitely not on my must have list

DontCallMeCharlotte · 17/09/2018 12:58

MakeYourOwnFuckingTea

Evans are stopping selling anything larger than a 28

Are they really? Doesn't affect me personally, but it affects someone I know (who practically keeps them in business single-handedly). Very foolish of them.

Clionba · 17/09/2018 13:12

You just know, however ghastly those jumpers are, they'll bobble like mad and look 100 x worse.

Bluelady · 17/09/2018 13:34

And set your hair on fire.

Clionba · 17/09/2018 13:41

Yes, and when you pull them over your head, your hair will look as if you've been touching one of those van der Graaf generators!

HepzibahHumbug · 17/09/2018 14:00

Yes to all polyester, cold-shoulder crap, all infantilising women's nightwear, anything you can't wear a bra with, etc, etc.
And hamam pants-if those are the ones with giant pendulous crotches I saw people wearing in the hot weather. Each time they made me think simultaneously of nappies and 3-legged races. Horrible

thenightsky · 17/09/2018 15:06

And hamam pants-if those are the ones with giant pendulous crotches

My grandad used to call them 'shit-coppers'.

PurpleNailVarnish · 17/09/2018 15:11

Worse were the hareem pants dungarees I'll admit that my shortness means dungarees will always look awful on me

You can't touch this indeed.

Any winter coat that doesn’t have a waist or even a waist belt can gtf too

That seems to account for 90% of the high street winter coats this season.
