It doesn’t make you look chunky or booby @Cherries - but only you know if you’d be comfortable wearing it ( and if you’d feel good in it ) .

enabledlurker · 04/09/2018 16:20

Hi Cherries I like the meg skirt on you ,why not try it styled in different ways? Maybe with a hint of red in a scarf or bag, with black opaques and ballet flats?Apparently red is the colour this winterSmile

SoyYo · 04/09/2018 16:56

Hi cherries I also received the Meghan ruched skirts in a 12. I don’t understand if I’m under 5’4” tall how it comes to the same length on me as in you?
Another weird thing was the sizing the flower print I received seemed smaller than the zebra print, it fitted but very snuggly and can’t be bothered to change to a 14 so keeping the zebra print only.
I think it looks really good on you but course you also need to feel comfortable wearing. The leggings also look great with the v neck top.

Ellapaella · 04/09/2018 17:26

@ilovecherries I like the skirt on you - I think if you wore it with a slightly different top, maybe a slightly cropped black jumper or a top or blouse tucked in it may work even better as it's quite a high waist and will elongate your silhouette and emphasise your waist line.
The leggings and jersey top look fantastic, love it on you - very flattering and you can definitely wear it out and about!

ilovecherries · 04/09/2018 17:42

Small technological crisis so had to rush to see an Apple Genius before we go on hols. Popped into JL, they didn’t have the meg in zebra but they had the floral in a 14 but if anything it’s smaller than the zebra. Although it did have a full length lining, and the zebra lining barely covered my bum. Bizarre. Also tried Emmanuelle out of curiosity but very neat on bust. Third picture is a view of my bra!

ilovecherries · 04/09/2018 17:43

Ie smaller than the zebra in a 12!

ilovecherries · 04/09/2018 17:48

And could JL have MORE unflattering lighting and mirror angles if they tried. Newcastle isn’t so bad, but Glasgow is dreadful.

Ellapaella · 04/09/2018 17:50

I really like that the skirt on that picture too, like how you are wearing it with the t shirt.

ilovecherries · 04/09/2018 17:50

The Emmanuelle was a 14, btw, and felt big everywhere else. But again - that shrinkage warning :(. It puts me right off. I want to buy things that fit me now, not bigger to allow for shrinkage.

Nearlyadoctor · 04/09/2018 17:54

That skirt looks lovely too @Cherries although my preference is still for the Zebra pattern.

AFingerofFudge · 04/09/2018 18:04

I love the skirt too cherries. We're such a bunch of enablers Grin

neveradullmoment99 · 04/09/2018 18:27

I agree with everone else. I like the zebra and other floral skirt on you :)
I don't get that 5% shrinkage - exactly how much is 5% ? I really agree with you cherries. Its a cheap shot to get out of refunding you.

ilovecherries · 04/09/2018 18:29

Exactly never - I was looking at it and thinking it was significant enough that a garment bought to fit could easily be too small/short.

ilovecherries · 04/09/2018 18:37

Because presumably they mean 5% at every seam. In fact - am going to email and ask. Viscose doesn’t shrink every time you wash it, and if fabric was ore washed it wouldn’t happen at all.

neveradullmoment99 · 04/09/2018 18:57

Well good for you. Ive never heard of this on a garment. You buy a dress and expect it to remain the same after you wash it. Its just not acceptable. How can they also guarantee that' is all it shrinks and how on earth would a person measure it and why the hell should you have to! Im interested to hear what they say.

Nearlyadoctor · 04/09/2018 19:06

I’ve just read their fabric and care page re Viscose and read as it can possibly shrink after washing but when ironed will retain original shape. I think this may possibly be right ( but prepared to be shouted down) as I have a couple of blouses ( not Hush ) that always seem a bit sort of tight after washing but once ironed the fabric relaxes again, and they are normal size again. Hope that makes sense.

neveradullmoment99 · 04/09/2018 19:12

Yes, nearly it does and I totally agree but the hush trousers shrunk and I ironed them and they were noticeably shorter. They refunded of course. I had before and after pics.

Nearlyadoctor · 04/09/2018 19:23

That’s poor Never. Whilst we’re discussing washing, can I ask how you all got on washing the Nana jumpers. Did you all wash them by hand or has anyone used the hand wash cycle on the washing machine? Not that I worn it yet obviously just thinking ahead. 😃

neveradullmoment99 · 04/09/2018 19:27

I hand washed mine with cashmere non - rinse stuff then squeezed out the excess and I am sure I put it in for a gentle spin. It came out the way it was. It washed up beautifully.

ilovecherries · 04/09/2018 19:50

Yes, my viscose trousers shrank beyond use, despite doing the whole ironing when still damp bit. They refunded but I still miss those trousers. It’s the fact that they now state this 5% nonsense on the garment information on each item on the site that is annoying me. It’s basically an attempt for a get out of hail free card.

Laska5772 · 04/09/2018 19:50

I took back the M&S cardis today and they had a plum in S in the shop( a proper sized S!! ) so swapped the large one out and just returned the grey . When the replacement plum one I ordered last night comes ill just get a refund on that .

Right I have got sensible this evening.. looked at my budget and decided that i must not buy anymore clothes this month . so all of the last Hush order is going back.. including the wine raglan (its nice but i dont need it ).

Also the M&S dress..Its just too much work to make it look good, and am thinking of my new lifestyle now ( only 3 days in work and have plenty of nice going out stuff.)

Keeping gap jeans and Hush grey wide top and those along with my pink shirt and the plum cardi is more than enough for this month.

well probably, it is only the 4th i cant promise! Grin

Laska5772 · 04/09/2018 19:58

Am wearing my bright pink raglan from last summer this evening (and also amies ) Raglan is also a M, but is definitely bigger than the wine M from this year . Also sleeves are more generous, a bit longer and more roomy . I feel I could wear a T easily under it whereas I couldn't quite so so easily in the new Wine one

Ellapaella · 04/09/2018 19:58

I will join you in being virtuous Laska. Having my hair cut and highlights on the weekend and then no more spending on myself for this month. Saving up for my boots now.

Laska5772 · 04/09/2018 20:04

I'm not known for being that good with a Halo Ella but having now 'rationalised' my wardrobe (and even then I still have a lot of stuff) I really dont want to just start refilling it willy-nilly .. I do need to be selective..

Laska5772 · 04/09/2018 20:11

5% shrinkage is just a crap get out I think.. . 'Oh sorry, we do imagine that the things we sell you will shrink, but its in the small print so thats ok' Hmm

BTW cherries I love you in the both decorative print ruched skirt and also the Emmanuelle.(but do get your objections to both..) its a real shame that they dont make the Emanuelle in a more 'curvy' version up top for us larger of nork.

You look far less than 60 btw !
