@Ellapaella mine were khaki too!

PorpoisefullyObtuse · 02/09/2018 21:52

I have a pair of classic DMs I bought 27 years ago. I use them for gardening... think I may get new laces and try and reinvigorate them. Would need to oil the leather as well. Might make it a wee project.

AFingerofFudge · 02/09/2018 22:23

I am a big fan of DM's and have various pairs still going from my youth. My favourites are my cherry reds. At the minute I want to buy a pair called Vonda which are just beautiful but very pricey!

So I think I'm going to keep the embroidered raglan, the girlfriend chinos, the red star t=shirt and the Alexa frill top. I'm returning the V neck star top and something else which has slipped my mind!

Now that I've sold a few bits on ebay I'm going to order the Harri jacket I think. Also I may follow the crowd and order a wide jersey top in the green.

GinandGingerBeer · 02/09/2018 22:47

I could never afford DMs but had Dm style boots which like you @neveradullmoment99 I wore with Indian style floaty skirts with mirrors sewn in and embroidered tops. Smile

AFingerofFudge · 02/09/2018 22:53

ginger I too had a couple of Indian style skirts with the mirrors! I loved them. One particular one I had was purple and had tassels at the bottom.

Ellapaella · 02/09/2018 22:56

@neveradullmoment99 those are lovely but yes I ordered a pair of pascals back in March but had to send them back as they were stupidly narrow sadly.
@AFingerofFudge I love those Vonda ones!

Talisin · 02/09/2018 22:59

Crystal Palace, Len, are you a local? I’m very close.

AFingerofFudge · 02/09/2018 23:01

I've done it! Blown all my eBay earnings and ordered the Harri jacket and the green wide top!!!! The jacket isn't on stock for 9 days so I will have to learn to be patient Hmm

neveradullmoment99 · 02/09/2018 23:02

Its so strange how a lot of us wore Indian things!!!! and now we are here!!! Grin

neveradullmoment99 · 02/09/2018 23:03

I have the harri jacket. Its lovely although the pockets are quite far back which is annoying if you like to put your hands in your pockets which I do. I still love it though. Obv. haven't worn yet.

AFingerofFudge · 02/09/2018 23:20

never what's the sizing like? I'm about a 13 and have ordered the 12, wonder if I should have ordered the 14??

neveradullmoment99 · 02/09/2018 23:41

Its not generous. If you are inbetween sizes you may be better off with the 14.

neveradullmoment99 · 02/09/2018 23:42

Could you order both?

ilovecherries · 03/09/2018 07:20

When I was a late teenager I wore a lot of cheesecloth, (not unlike the Hush goa tops!), embroidered jeans with huge bell bottoms and then slightly later on floaty skirts and dresses with mirrors. In my mid teens it was all crombie coats and Ben Sherman shirts. Can’t really remember what I wore on the bottom though. Till then, mum made all my clothes, and I think she even made me my crombie, I think my Ben Sherman was almost the first item of bought clothing that I owned. I loved it and was still flat chested enough to carry off a slightly androgynous look. Then I left uni and was straight into 80s power suits.

Laska5772 · 03/09/2018 07:52

I was like you cherries as a late teen, definitely all indian cotton and platforms.. the Goa shirt is just like some i had then..

Then I went into black for a while (quite a long while) I never had DMs though.. in my day they were a bit Suedehead/ skinhead.. I did have loads of other black leather boots though..

BTW cherries have you seen the new BC sign up thread?

AFingerofFudge · 03/09/2018 10:05

Have decided to keep the girlfriend chinos- I love them and they're so comfy!

Laska5772 · 03/09/2018 10:15

They look great finger I'm wondering if i will get a parcel today .. ..but of course its all coming slow mail Grrrr , no thanks Hush Angry

I'm wearing the same colour scheme as you ! Yellow slub T ( not the star one) and black frayed denim shorts.. Yes, its still shorts weather here in the Deep South and I am making the most of it Grin

Non working day today , I am finally getting used to the fact that I a now partially retired! My M&S things are in so I'm going to collect those and also the Grey wide neck is waiting for me at Waitrose ( was oos in Hush when i ordered ) . I ordered it again in to see what S is like one me as decided that my XS was too tight in the arms (though XS is fine in the green and charcoal ones ) .

SoyYo · 03/09/2018 10:51

Hi all! Just catching up with lovely chat
I have returns parcel ready to go to P.O. with dress AND black Femme T shirt, like the carpe diem I also returned I liked it but even with 10% discount not worth the £ when there’s so many other things I like. May repurchase if on sale.

Skirts should arrive today so will report back.
Getting excited about hols but tons to do for work before Wed so may be a bit sporadic with posts.
Dave looking fabulous in your new purchases!
afinger like the side view of your new chinos, can see why you’ve kept👍

I have vegan DMs which I wear on DH’s bike, super cool and waterproof as man made. May get them out with skirts/dresses a la Ella

I’m mid fifties so in the older crowd. Teens were all leather jackets and first “serious” BF I lived with (to my family’s horror) was a hippy from the sixties (he was 13 years older than me) so I did hang with a much older crowd of alternative people much much older in my late teens/early twenties before DH and I got together. DH was gorgeous in his twenties (still is) 6’3” Scottish hunk with blonde hair down to his waist.
I have a weakness for rebel boys but DH turned out to be a gooden under the roughty toughty biker exterior, and super clever too. You can tell I adore him after 30 years Wink
Wore all the hippy gear at college but went totally biker too. Ah those were the days! But they still are! Even though broken ankle is stopping us from taking the bike to Spain this time we’re arriving in a hired car we’ll be partying hard at the biker do with friends old and new. I’ll see if I can manage a stomp dance with my Star Wars ensemble Grin

I’m up for a meet in London, specially if weekend and not travelling with work. It’s just under 1.20 mins journey by train to London for me so totally doable and would love to go shopping/have a 🥂to the friendliest thread in MN

SoyYo · 03/09/2018 11:11

Oh yes I too upcycle old furniture, have Anthropology crockery (and tops) and Ercol mid century chairs on my dining table (picked up for a song). Nothing in my home matches anything else but rather is a collection of things randomly acquired over decades, it all has a meaning and we never bought a matching set of anything in our lives. I will have to let go of a lot of it in the next year as we’ll be downsizing and simplifying our lives and I know it will be a tough exercise for me.
I’m definitely not a minimalist, but also looking forward to letting go and make space for the next stage in our lives...

ilovecherries · 03/09/2018 11:19

Maybe I should try DMs again, as I now have the authentic suede head look to go with them. :D. I’ve always lusted after a pair, and even went as far as buying them, but I just couldn’t stand the pain and sold them on.

ilovecherries · 03/09/2018 11:27

I’m heading back to uk now. Quick turnaround on all my summer clothes and off to Spain on Saturday. And talking about suede heads - I haven’t worn hair the entire time I’ve been here. I brought two light weight wigs, and they haven’t been unpacked. A) it was just too hot but B) I actually felt totally comfortable. No one stared and the waitress commented twice on how nice I looked (both times wearing hush!). I went bald-headed as a 20 year old but was convinced I was too old and saggy of jaw to carry it off now, but I actually felt really comfortable. I may review my wig wearing at home as well. Won’t give it up completely, and in cold weather it’s pretty much an essential but sort of realised I can look ok without it.

ilovecherries · 03/09/2018 11:29

The outfits that got the Menorca seal of approval were the Jamie maxi in Haze and the leopard skirt with a black vest.

SoyYo · 03/09/2018 11:59

Ah cherries safe journey home.
You really looked beautiful with your shaved head, I need your “youth beauty secret” as looking at your photo in the Greek widow I’d never have put you older than early forties (if that). LOL at DM’s the vegan ones I own don’t need breaking in, they seem softer/more pliable than the leather version so may be worth a try.
Thanks for tip on Hush clothing as I own the same Jamie dress and leopard (as well as Greek widow) will definitely pack them 👍

Wellhellothere101 · 03/09/2018 13:05

Hi everyone. I'm hoping to order the Yasmin dress in grass pine/gold. I've hummed and hahhed too long and now the 10% preview code doesn't work. Anyone know of an up to date 10% code? Does anyone have this dress and like it on?

Skimbleskanks · 03/09/2018 13:19

Thread moves so fast! There's also an Arket on regent street, is anyone into that? Is there really a Hush on regent st?
