@DontCallMeCharlotte I guess there are some looks not even Maxima can carry off!

If you can bear the robotic voice, is a charming video about Sophie Wessex

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/09/2018 20:41

Going back to Máxima, that photo is particularly bad.
I like the blouse but it is too “ blousey” to go with the wide culottes.

What Máxima needs the most is a hair intervention.
She should chop it to a bob and go back to a chocolatey brunette. She would be just as beautiful.

Clionba · 18/09/2018 21:43

Yep, Maxima needs a proper hair re vamp. Chopped and coloured with a moisturising mask. What's with the white gloves? It's cute though, the way that they wave with both arms in the air.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/09/2018 21:58

Yes, Maxima's hair does look a bit fresh from the gym at times.

Watching the Princess Margaret documentary - I think she has my favourite every royal wedding dress, so dreamy. I'm quite taken with the idea of floating around in a kaftan and turban Grin

Quantumblue · 19/09/2018 01:53

Not Max's best look.

Max knocked it out of the park for the inauguration! I have a girl crush

Clionba · 19/09/2018 05:54

She looks lovely in those photos. They look like a really happy family.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/09/2018 08:35

Maxima's caped gown is one of her all-time bests too. Although it was at her brother's wedding, so not really good form to overshadow the bride!

OP posts:
Cornwall73 · 19/09/2018 09:21

Those gowns are utterly gorgeous but I must say that the poor bride pales into the background compared to that outfit! It’s so hard to outshine her anyway maybe she should have toned down a bit for the wedding. Love the gowns though, she can really pull them off.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/09/2018 09:28

I think for a lot of continental weddings, especially royal ones, the dress code is long gowns / white tie.
So the bride is going to be upstaged if she is “ only” wearing a white dress.
I think the cape is just her outer wear ( fabulous as it is) all the other guests are wearing pashminas or chiffon stoles etc.

user1457017537 · 19/09/2018 10:14

What a beautiful wedding I had never seen those photos. So stylish

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/09/2018 10:15

Princess Marie of Denmark has been out and about this week too. If anything ever happens to Kate or CP Mary, they could just slot Marie in and no one would notice the difference!

Bit of a dreary outfit from Queen Mathilde but she's always looked older than her years with those matronly outfits and newsreader hair. But it may stand her in good stead when she's older - she's looked 50 since she was 30 but will probably still look 50 when she's 70!

Another royal(ish) wedding just announced - Lady Gabriella Windsor is getting married next spring. Princess Michael's mother of the bride outfit is bound to be epic!

OP posts:
DontCallMeCharlotte · 19/09/2018 11:26

The Scandi Royal weddings look amazing - especially as they all get to wear tiaras (sigh). I am very jealous of Sophie Wessex's role in our Royal Family as she gets to go to all the foreign weddings. Considering the amount of jewellery available to the British Royals, it's a shame we don't see more of it.

A friend of mine married a Danish chap and his family were all in "gowns" rather than day dresses. To be fair, the bride's mother had done her homework and looked equally OTT amazing.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/09/2018 16:04

Apparently Gabriella is marrying an old flame of Pippa's.
These aristos are so incestuous.

I wonder how her parents will pay for it?
The Kent's are not known for being well off. They will probably have some rich friends host it.

ajandjjmum · 19/09/2018 16:30

What a lovely, under-stated announcement from the Kents.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/09/2018 17:07

And Princess Michael isn't exactly known for understatement! I guess they will be pulling in favours from all their connections, and there's no shortage of royal chapels where they can have the ceremony. I think the Gloucester sisters got married at the one in Kensington Palace.

OP posts:
beanaseireann · 19/09/2018 17:08

Wasn't Gabriela subjected to a kind of kiss n tell in the past year by some odious man ?

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/09/2018 17:22

Yes, from her ex. The tabloids here focused on his claim that they took drugs together and swam naked in the pool at Buckingham Palace but the actual article is a bit more nuanced.

OP posts:
VanillaSugary · 19/09/2018 18:29

Is Gabrielle's brother called Freddie who married Sophie Winklemann (half sister of Claudia and Big Suze?). She had a very bad car accident just before Christmas last year. Does anyone know if she's OK? I can't find any news. Her DD Maud is at Thomas's with George.

Ineedtogetoutmore

Clionba · 19/09/2018 18:55

The last I heard Vanilla was that she was recovering well, but I can't remember from what source. Gabriella and Tom look like a nice couple, she'll be a stunning bride. I wonder what the venue will be? Frederick and his wife Sophie were married at Hampton Court.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/09/2018 18:57

Yes that's her. She was DBIL's study partner at Cambridge but no, he wasn't invited to their wedding!

Seems she's ok now, judging from this Hello interview but it sounds like she had a horrendous time.

OP posts:
IAmWhoYouSayIAm · 19/09/2018 19:20

I wonder how her parents will pay for it?

Or maybe, the two people who are marrying, who work in senior jobs, might pay for it themselves.

These two have kept such a low profile for 3 years and yet seem to be getting a roasting by association to “the royals” and his alledged link to Pippa (7 years ago they were photographed together and apparently were dating Hmm)

I’m happy for them. They’ll have gorgeous children me thinks Grin
