Elizabeth Debicki would be perfect casting for Diana! But Ryan Murphy is also planning Charles/Diana for the second series of Feud.

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/09/2018 09:23

Ah no, Murphy has scrapped that idea.

Just jumping in to ask
WTF was Sophie Wexxex wearing recently?
A blue sack designed by VB ??

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/09/2018 09:32

This? Not the most flattering, I agree. Nice colour, bad cut.

evilharpy · 15/09/2018 11:00

You’d have to be straight up and down and very thin to pull that dress off and even then it’d be a fine line between fashion and frumpy. Not a great look for Sophie. Good colour on her though.

VanillaSugary · 15/09/2018 12:19

Even Kate Middleton would have difficulty with that dress/too. It's the sleeves.

Ophelialovescats · 15/09/2018 12:29

That sleeve length is very unflattering on all arms !

fleuriepeninsula · 15/09/2018 12:38

I have to admit my first thought was it’s a terrible colour on her. It does her skin no favours at all.

VanillaSugary · 15/09/2018 13:32

Maybe VB gave it to her for free as a promotional tool?

user1457017537 · 15/09/2018 13:38

It’s because the fabric is too thick and doesn’t drape. Horror of a dress

YearOfYouRemember · 15/09/2018 13:47

Does anyone know when the new series of The Crown is on please ?

Clionba · 15/09/2018 14:06

Apparently Sophie never accepts freebies and will send back stuff that arrives unsolicited. I think she was very aware of Fergie's reputation. I'm looking forward to the next series of The Crown! In the short term, also looking forward to Princess Margaret documentary pt 2.

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/09/2018 14:10

@YearOfYouRemember I think not til 2019 Sad

Thank you Queen but boo at having to wait so long.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 15/09/2018 17:05

Sophie’s dress is hideous. It looks like a crimplene school uniform.
She wears that sleeve length and neckline often, but agree with pp that tha fabric is completely wrong.
If it’s stretch, it should Roland Mouret style to hold you in properly and not bunch.
Or if tailored, it should be tailored to fir.
The VB dress is an abomination; no wonder the label is losing money. ( perhaps roland mouret has been released from his tenure of designin* for her label.)

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/09/2018 17:08

This interactive royal family tree is interesting. It also shows that all the Scandinavian monarchs have little to no Scandinavian blood themselves! In the case of Denmark, none of the heirs to the throne have any Danish blood either!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 15/09/2018 17:12

Also wanted to say @Queen the suggestion for Elizabeth Debicki is inspired. She has the eyes and the mannerisms to suggest her rather than copycat her.
I think it would be very hard for her boys to watch.
I wonder if an6 of 5ne Royal family watch the Crown.
I suspect thei4 advisers watch it for professional reasons and their extended family watch it.

beanaseireann · 15/09/2018 19:12

Wouldn't it be great to have a series following the children of Queen Victoria through their lives and marriages into the European Royal families.
She seems to have married off her ( many) children into so many different royal houses.
Isn't the dowager Queen of Spain a sister of the 'King' of Greece ?

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/09/2018 19:56

Not quite a dowager as her husband is still alive, but yes! And the "queen" of Greece is Queen Margarethe's little sister.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 15/09/2018 20:01

The majority of European monarchs are descended from either Queen Victoria, Christian IX of Denmark (who was actually German) or both! The only exceptions are the Dutch and Monagesque crowned heads.

I too loved the Crown. Just brilliant. It's the reason I have Netflix. And the only thing I've watched on it!

Aslo enjoyed the PM documentary although learnt nothing new. Have already read Anne de Courcy's bio on Snowden plus Craig Brown's (?) book on Margaret 'Yes Ma'am'. She sounded an absolute horror!! But Snowden was really quite mean to her and she no doubt suffered at his hands once their relationship had gone haywire.

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/09/2018 20:58

I think PM suffered from a lack of purpose in life, and that made her very bitter. All that privilege yet she still seems to have been a very unhappy woman. As I said upthread, it was a shame she couldn't marry some foreign king and be queen of another country - I'm sure she'd have been very good!

@CurlyWurlyTwirly Vanessa Kirby did an interview in the Guardian recently where she said that one of the York sisters said their granny loved The Crown. Not sure how true it is...

Margaret was intelligent and talented, but had no real outlet other than standard royal ribbon cutting. I remember reading in one of her biographies that she felt that she had been under-educated. I also think she should get more credit as a mother. Of course, she had nannies, but by all accounts, she enthusiastically supported her children's artistic interests and endeavors.

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/09/2018 07:32

It's really quite shocking how undereducated aristocratic women were in the U.K. Not just the Queen and Princess Margaret but even Princess Anne and Lady Di received very meagre educations.

Contrast this with Margarethe of Denmark, who attended Cambridge, Harvard and the Sorbonne, and is extremely accomplished.
