In royal style news, Harry and Meghan will be at an awards night Monday week. And they'll be down under when the Dutch royals visit. So no Max/Meg fashion face-off - Kate will have to do it alone!

Princess Anne went to Benenden. Not sure they would appreciate being described as meagre!

VanillaSugary · 16/09/2018 08:00

This link goes to Wikipedia and is the story of West Heath School where Princess Diana went. Who knew that Tilda Swinton was in the year below her???

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/TheNewSchoolatWest_Heath

Mohammed Al Fayid has been closely involved with its regeneration. Good for him. Finally, something positive to come out of the whole sorry mess.

VanillaSugary · 16/09/2018 08:01

Oh what???? Bloody Wikipedia.

Anyway, google West Heath School and it will come up Angry

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/09/2018 08:15

@missclimpson What I meant was that there was no attempt at educating Anne beyond secondary school, even though she got similar exam results to Charles and could've gone to university.

missclimpson · 16/09/2018 08:44

I think it was probably because Anne wanted to do horsey things. I knew someone who was at school with her and she went on to university.

Quantumblue · 16/09/2018 08:59

Max would wipe the floor with Meg in a face-off. She is so comfortable in her own skin- she rocks!

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/09/2018 09:03

Well I hope Kate has her largest hat and biggest sleeves on standby... Grin

Then again I'm not sure Kate has the personality to carry it off. Maxima gets away with things that would look ridiculous on the likes of Kate or CP Mary. Just look at this, the woman can even wear a blue velvet jumpsuit with aplomb!

Love Max! (she has a mum tum like me Smile). There's an article in the Mail on Sunday (sorry) about the BBC not doing tv coverage of Eugenie's wedding. Andrew is livid and is in talks with itv. The Yorks seem to believe that this wedding should have the same status as Harry and Meghan's. Some anger at the attitude of the BBC (and Sky) who will only be showing images as part of the rolling news. Will post a link when I have a minute.

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/09/2018 09:57

God, Eugenie's wedding is really getting embarrassing. She should just elope at this point as it's turning out to be more about her parents than her.

I wonder if Charles hasn't shot himself in the foot a bit by insisting the Yorks take no official role. They could've been like the Kents or Gloucesters (none of whom are getting any younger) and carried out some duties and been patrons of a few charities.

There's going to come a time when the Queen's cousins are no longer able to carry out official duties and what then? There are plenty of good causes the York sisters could champion. Beatrice is dyslexic and Eugenie has scoliosis - I'm sure charities for both would've been delighted to have a princess on board.

I really can’t see why charities need minor Royals to champion them.

I’m not sure @Queen, I think Charles knows exactly what Andrew is like and has deliver kept him out of the limelight as much as possible.
The Kent’s & Gloucesters are hard working and keep their heads down.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Wessex Children becomes full time Royals. Their parents have a good work ethic.

The York girls, especially Beatrice are just like teenagers living at Home. And both of their parents like freebies and showbiz a bit too much.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 16/09/2018 10:45

@ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual

I hope the Queen does like the Crown. It must be nostalgic for her to watch.
I think Clare Foy plays the Queen very sympathetically. And it would appear it has been pretty accurate.
And the producers have obviously had sanction from the Palace as they are allowed to use the exteriors of the actual Balmoral for filming.

Clionba · 16/09/2018 11:10

I absolutely agree, Curly, the Kents and the Gloucesters were trustworthy. There are concerns about the Yorks for many reasons. The Cambridges, Sussexes and Wessexes can get it covered. They could always bring in the Snowdons. A case in point is this lavish wedding, which the Yorks want on a par with Harry's, to the extent of disagreements with the BBC and relentless self promotion. The BBC and Sky will broadcast images, but don't want a live continuous broadcast programme. That's the problem.

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/09/2018 11:13

Wasn't Eugenie's wedding originally scheduled to be in the summer and had to be moved? I can't remember the reason why.

OP posts:
Clionba · 16/09/2018 11:16

Because it was too close to Harry's. They wanted it 2 weeks after. Plus senior Royals would have had to switch their schedules around too much. I don't think it went down well.

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/09/2018 11:21

That could explain the whole keeping up with the Sussexes thing.

OP posts:
CurlyWurlyTwirly · 16/09/2018 11:21

I think it was just a diary / protocol thing.
Rumour has it that Jack proposed to Euj months before, but Harry & Meghan’s engagement and subsequent wedding was higher priority.

I’m sure Eugenie’s Wedding will be on something like Sky. Some people —me— would still like to watch it. None of the other Royal grandchildren’s weddings have been televised apart from William’s (future king) and Harry’s ( son of future king). Most people would not be able to pick out Eugenie in a line up anyway...

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 16/09/2018 11:24

It’s only because the Queen has lived so long that Prince Andrew gets a look-in.
If Charles was King, Prince Andrew would be the male equivalent of Princess Margaret. Good looking in his youth, petulant and entitled in old age.

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/09/2018 11:25

That'd make a great AIBU wouldn't it? "I've been with my fiancé longer than my cousin's been with his, but we've been forced to postpone our wedding because he thinks he should take priority"!!

OP posts:
ajandjjmum · 16/09/2018 11:37

I thought (not sure where I read it) that Eugenie's engagement was delayed to give Beatrice time to get over her break-up. Although she's no doubt happy for her sister, it's bound to be a bitter-sweet day.

FATEdestiny · 16/09/2018 11:41

I will definitely be watching Eugenie’s wedding. I love a good wedding!
