Or they could give unwanted gifts to the staff, who are not very well paid are they. Terrible waste if it’s true gifts are destroyed.

neffall · 11/09/2018 14:38

Royal list of gifts

From the BBC. Here's the list of presents from 2017 (hope the link works)

neffall · 11/09/2018 14:39

Damn, it doesn't work. I'll try again in a minute.

Good job they've got plenty of spare rooms to keep all the presents in.

I've been sent another random catalogue, this time a company called Fold. It's all a bit Kateish.

I would look like an enormous salmon in those dresses! Grin

Paradyning · 11/09/2018 20:47

The fold does lovely work stuff if you're loaded. Must admit I was a bit pissed off when she wore one of their dresses. Pippa wore one too for Harry's wedding.

Paradyning · 11/09/2018 20:48

Pretty sure that CP Victoria has worn one too

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/09/2018 20:52

Hah, Kate has already worn the white dress I just posted! Didn't realise when I posted it.

Why does Kate always do crazy hands. She can't seem to talk to someone without making wild hand gestures.

Quantumblue · 11/09/2018 22:10

I think she is not a natural extrovert and it is a quick way to signal energy and interest.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/09/2018 22:16

Did anyone watch the princess Margaret doc? I might catch it on iPlayer tomorrow.

SeaRabbit · 11/09/2018 22:20

Has anyone read the P. Margaret book by Craig Brown? Equal parts hilarious and shocking.

neffall · 11/09/2018 22:23

DH was watching it - the bit I saw looked quite interesting.

lightonthewater · 11/09/2018 22:29

Yes, I watched it. Quite interesting. Seems to me she wanted to have her cake and eat it really. Shocking that Snowdon was screwing around even whilst engaged to her and knocked up his friend's wife.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/09/2018 22:35

@SeaRabbit Yes, I read it. It was good fun and had some hilarious bits, but I think Margaret was also a very lonely and bitter woman, despite all her privilege.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/09/2018 22:41

Margaret was unlucky to be born at a time when princesses were neither properly educated or shipped off to marry foreign kings or dukes. It seems she wasn't one who enjoyed playing second fiddle to her sister and I'm sure she would've made a marvellous queen or grand duchess of some other country!

OP posts:
neffall · 11/09/2018 23:21

I listened to her on Desert Island Discs and she was very grand and entitled on that. She spoke to Roy Plumley (sp) as if she had to suffer a lot of fools in her life.

beanaseireann · 12/09/2018 12:15

Sarah Chatto appears to have turned out lovely and low key.
Appears a credit to Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/09/2018 12:31

Yes it's interesting isn't it, how Princess M had the more tumultuous life yet there's never been a whiff of scandal about her children? They both seem happily married and have their own careers. While the Queen has led a blameless existence (as far as we know) and her children's marital woes are legendary!

Those fold clothes are beautiful.
Kate looked gorgeous in that link.
She has got more matronly in the last 3 years.
Less swishy hair and more updos & coatdresses

ajandjjmum · 12/09/2018 13:11

I suppose Princess Margaret had a lot more time to spend with her children?

EmGee · 12/09/2018 13:18

Re Sarah Chatto. I remember watching a programme on TV - think it was to celebrate the Queen's 90th or sthg like that. Sarah Chatto was interviewed and she came across as a truly lovely, kind person. She was asked the question 'What would you like to say to the Queen as she approaches her 90th birthday? SC smiled, and said something along the lines of 'Well, she has been such a kind and wonderful presence in my life, I would just wish her all the best and for her to enjoy her special birthday'. It was so very sincere and sweet, and she looked so genuine as she spoke.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/09/2018 13:22

I saw that documentary too and agree that Sarah came across as lovely. Nice article in Hello about her here - includes photos of her gorgeous wedding dress. And her sons are good-looking boys - I think the one on the left has a faint look of Princess Margaret about him.
